Rocks are (typically) artifacts that are used to speed up your library. By running 8-13 mana rocks you can drop your lands well bellow the 38 mark, which will streamline your library. This make it more efficient and consistent. Rocks allow you to amass large quantities of mana faster. A turn 1 Sol Ring + any Talisman or Signet is a NASTY way to start any game. How does 5 mana on turn 2 sound to you?

Sol Ring
Chromatic Lantern
Coalition Relic
Dimir Signet
Expedition Map
Gilded Lotus
Izzet Signet
Mana Vault
Rakdos Signet
Talisman of Creativity
Talisman of Dominance
Talisman of Indulgence
Thought Vessel

Oh baby do I have a treat for you. Planeswalkers are special characters within the magic lore, each of which has special attributes and abilities. The 4 I run in this library are hand selected for my local meta of play. We all enjoy tutoring up the exact card as we need it, or searching for certain lands to obtain color profile, well Ashiok, Dream Render prevents just that. As you saw above, Mana Rocks are good idea, and they're quite popular in fast paced metas. Karn, the Great Creator RUINS everyone else's ability to ramp via artifacts. I love it.
I run two different Nicol-Bolas walkers, solely because they represent the HATE that is Grixis perfectly. Here are the 4 walkers I am currently running.

Ashiok, Dream Render
Karn, the Great Creator
Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh
Nicol Bolas, the Deceiver

Counters prevent spells from ever existing. They are a tool to help you maintain control of the gamestate in order to win. I run 7 in this library. In my opinion these are the best counters in MTG that are <$100.

Counterspell
Delay
Disallow
Flusterstorm
Mana Drain
Pact of Negation
Swan Song

Tutors are specifically designed to allow you to search your library and put a card into your hand, the battlefield, graveyard, etc. They allow you to respond to your opponent by taking something you need out of the middle of your deck and keeping it near by. I have 5 tutors that search any card I want, 1 that searches for any artifact, and one that searched for an instant or sorcery (like Mana Drain )

Mystical Tutor
Fabricate
Sidisi, Undead Vizier
Diabolic Tutor
Diabolic Intent
Demonic Tutor
Vampiric Tutor

I love drawing cards and scrying. I want to have 7 cards in my hand as often as possible. The more cards you draw/scry, the more you thin/filter your deck. A well thinned/filtered deck will produce the cards you want to draw more often, helping you maintain control and win the game. I probably have too many in the library honestly, and may change some out later.

Mystic Remora
Phyrexian Arena
Rhystic Study
Brainstorm
Soul Diviner
Graveborn Muse
Ponder
Preordain
Gitaxian Probe
Serum Visions

Here comes that word again, Control. Control's definition is as follows, "the power to influence or direct people's behavior or the course of events." Grixis is all about directing the course of events throughout the game. Whether it is countering spells, burning lands, sacrificing creatures, preventing players from searching libraries, you name it. Many of the cards already mentioned so far are considered control, but here are some more of my favorites.

Animate Dead
Dance of the Dead
Chaos Warp
Cyclonic Rift
Death Baron
Dreadbore
Reanimate
Sheoldred, Whispering One
Sudden Spoiling
Terminate

Now this is the bread and butter of any deck. The reason you built it. Cards that work almost too well together, break the game, or just cause you happiness to use together in general. Grixis allows for some unfair combos.

Gravecrawler + Grimgrin, Corpse-Born + Thraximundar is honestly just cheesy. Gravecrawler can come back constantly, so that grimgrin and thrax are always gaining counters and grim is always available to block if needed. The synergy is strong with this one.

Fleshbag Marauder + Thraximundar is just rude in those multiplayer games. Easy 3-4 counters onto Thrax, and wiping a little from everyone off the board. This is some rude control that just works almost too well with Thrax.

Speaking of counters, Soul Diviner gives me something to do with them! You know how much I love drawing cards, and this boi really helps. He can take the from any of the planeswalkers, Thraximundar , Coalition Relic , Triskelion , Grimgrin, Corpse-Born , etc.

Entomb + Reanimate + Sheoldred, Whispering One (or Animate Dead , or Dance of the Dead ) just cause there is no better way to tell your opponent to go F___ themselves than a turn 2 Sheoldred.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion because who doesn't want a cheesy infinite win condition? Honestly, I'm just trying to get my friends to hate me at this point.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Zombie Master is another great example of synergy. This library is mostly black, so the more swamps the better, now if every zombie has swampwalk, this game ain't gonna last long...

Speaking of cheesy combos again, Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter (or Mana Drain ) because who doesn't want unlimited mana???

These are cards I just really like. Whether I like them specifically for this library, or just personally.

The Scarab God is just amazing in this library. He allows more scrying, hurting all of my opponents in the process. Not to mention once Thraximundar makes you sacrifice your beloved creature, my God can bring a copy of them back to the field as a zombie. MOAR SYNERGY.

Rooftop Storm cause free creature casts <3

Gravecrawler really doesn't get the love he should. He's the gift that keeps on giving. He will out party everyone in the game.

Sheoldred, Whispering One is a favorite for (what should be) obvious reasons. She is just too rude and synergyistc not to love.

Sensei's Divining Top will forever be a favorite card of mine. Do yourself a favor, and get one! It will filter your deck effectively and allow for that last second card that you really just need to have to live.

Out: Thought Vessel
In: Lotus Petal

This will allow for more consistent turn 1 signets or talismans, therefore speeding up the library just a little more.
