Well, well well.

It seems as though you've decided to check out my deck. Welcome to the deck featuring the token white (and red, and green) guys. Here's a primer or something.

You may enjoy this deck if:

  • You enjoy flooding the board with small creatures
  • You like being able to rebuild quickly
  • You like playing premium removal and ramp
  • You like to grind out incremental advantage
  • You like winning explosively out of nowhere with combos
  • You hate blue (ef you, blue)

You may not enjoy this deck if:

  • You like more consistent decks that win the same way every time you play
  • You like running lots of tutors
  • You're scared of board wipes
  • You like to lock the game down

The commanders, in case you couldn't tell by looking at the deck list, are Tana, the Bloodsower and Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa. Tana specifically is a strange commander, because it wants to get tall to go wide. However, pumping Tana isn't the goal if this deck. It aims to make her, as well as many other creatures, unblockable with Sidar. this gains us incremental advantage.

In the early game, you want to ramp into your commanders ASAP, as they make the deck go. You typically want to play Tana first, so she can attack unhindered by silly things like blockers. If you have a haste enabler, though, Sidar first is usually better.

From there, you want to gain incremental advantage by chipping in for a little bit of damage at a time, amassing an army of tokens, which can be used in a variety of ways.

All good things must come to an end, including games of EDH. How do we close out the game?

Beatdown. sometimes, having 20+ tokens is just gonna win.

Beatdown with upside. sometimes, having 20+ tokens and a Craterhoof Behemoth is definitely gonna win.

Degenerate combo. Ashnod's Altar? Check. Martial Coup? Check. Goblin Bombardment? Well, you get the idea.

MagicFest Toronto was this weekend, and it was a blast! I picked up/traded for some great cards for the deck.

-Windbrisk Heights and Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion become Stomping Grounds and Temple Garden: Finally picked up some shocks, and I was really struggling deciding what to cut. Decided on the utility lands. Hideaway lands in general have underperformed for me, and I never seem to hit anything good. Plus, the deck needs early game so it entering tapped is a real downside. As for Sunhome, I find I never really need the double strike, and 4 mana is a lot. The deck's pretty colour hungry, so the generic mana isn't ideal either.

-Increasing Devotion becomes March of the Multitudes: I love Increasing Devotion. The effect is quite powerful, and the human token I use is really pretty. But March can just make SO many bodies. Even though it's not repeatable, like Devotion is, it's just a better card.
