Thrasios/Ludevic Tempo

Commander / EDH RUG (Temur)

imnotanerd

This is a deck I wanted to put together since no one was really playing with Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist. He's kind of hard to build around, but my first thought was looking for red enchantments that dealt damage to opponents. I put some that I thought were great with him in this deck, but after a few games, I took out most, and I probably should take out some more. I had cards like Curse of the Pierced Heart and AEther Sting, but after re-reading them over and over again, it turns out that they did not work out as I thought. So the red part of this deck is not really essential, but it does help a bit.

In the end, the deck wants to combo out with infinite mana. This is done through:

1) Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger + Palinchron

2) Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron

Once infinite mana is established, either draw through the whole deck with Thrasios, Triton Hero, play Laboratory Maniac, draw again and win. Or if he was removed, find someway to put Anger in the grave, and smash face with the big creatures in the deck.

In most of my games, I have successfully won through combo-ing out with infinite mana, even though I might not have even damaged the opponent myself once. Sometimes the opponent would just sit back and watch me play by myself, which is not really fun, but it's the best way to close out the game fast.

Another interaction besides the infinite mana:

1) Training Grounds + Thrasios, Triton Hero = 2 mana ramp or draw

1 + 2) Include Seedborn Muse and you can do that every single turn. Watch your opponent fear over the card draw and ramp!

While Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist might be underwhelming, I find that if you have control of the early game, the extra card draw is AMAZING, especially in 1v1. Do not underestimate it. You never know when you will draw that needed counterspell to keep control.
