There might be some typos, but the essential features are covered. I will add more as I learn more.

Arbor Elf might help you with the "nonland permanent that taps for blue, black and red". You could swap it in for Elvish Mystic.

I like that very much. Done

I don't like Zhur-Taa Druid at all, especially without a haste enabler. You give opponent's so much time to answer one of your only win conditions.Winds of Change also seems like it might underperform as it's a very limited use case. Mystic Remora doesn't seem all that great when you have Thrasios, Triton Hero and are looking for a faster game. I still recommend Dark Confidant and Toxic Deluge/Fire Covenant.

Overall, I think this list feels very much like your Leovold, Emissary of Trest + red which isn't bad at all. It's interesting. I was wondering if you play on Cockatrice at all? I really want to see how you pilot a list like this (or your Leovold list) through stax as it seems like both fall to a early Trinisphere or Nether Void or Aven Mindcensor.

iamyoona: Thank you for the feedback. Honestly Guttersnipe is a much cleaner victory but druid has been very good in testing. Keep in mind its my plan c win condition. If it becomes an issue I will likely go back to guttersnipe. I play against alot of blue spellslinger decks so Mystic Remora will usually draw me multiple cards in a single turn cycle. In this way it often functions like an Ancestral Recall with upside. In another meta I agree it can be slow, but for mine its 5x faster than Dark Confidant. I rarely pay the upkeep unless people hold off playing spells, which is fine with me as well. Winds of Change is beyond broken. It is the primary reason I am playing red. It all but wins the game for 4-5 mana most games and is also great with ad naus and other wheels. It can also dock over stax deck by disrupting thier good opening hands.

I cut Toxic Deluge because it hurts me just as much as my opponents since I run alot of dorks. Fire Covenant is really great and will help against hatebears a great deal. Thank you. I dont fear trinisphere much. The tax effect it provides is hardly backbreaking. Other stax effects are more problematic, but then again stax is the rock to my sizzors.

I do not have cockatrice, but I have been tempted to try it out. If I ever do I will definitely hit you up.

One other thing. In my experience very few well constructed decks fold to a single card. For instance people often say stuff like reanimator folds to Rest in Peace. Having played alot of reanimator, that is clearly false. These effects, while strong, are rarely permanent and can often be broken out of given enough time. My decks are usually efficient enough to survive a stax piece or two and I often can counter or remove some before they become oppressive. Where this deck starts to falter is if someone has both null rod linvala and an effect like trinosphere or aven mindcensor. If stuff like that happens I gladly say gg and try to get them the next game. Just my 2 cents on the stax problem.

Those are good points. I agree you list probably doesn't fold to a single stax piece but I was being a bit hyperbolic. Sorry. Most stax lists run quite a few and if they only run the powerful ones then it only takes a couple to become oppressive.

Also have you considered Gemstone Caverns, I think the card is amazing for a combo list.

I can see the argument for Winds of Change actually. Would Liliana of the Veil be too midrangey for this list?

How has Waste Not performed for you?

Please never apologize to me for offering constructive criticism. You are providing me a much needed service when you find find flaws in my brews and I thank you!

Gemstone cavern is perfect. Thank you. Liliana is a bit too grindy and better 1v1. Waste not is very solid but only with a wheel. Its on my potential cut list

Makes sense. I wonder if there's a reason for Stomping Ground over Taiga? Also Elvish Spirit Guide?

January 6, 2017 1:10 p.m.

iamyoona says... #9

Also Ancient Grudge for things like Null Rod?

Sorry one more. Natural State

Ancient grudge is a better fit for the deck. Tiaga was an oversight. Elvish spirit guide doesnt help me because I never need green when I am going off. Just blue, red, and black.

Playtested a lot this weekend. I think Zhur-Taa Druid is unplayable. It doesn't have haste and there's no way to grant it haste in the deck. I think Dark Confidant is still a better card even if you're going off Turn 4 because there's a chance you can't and it lets the deck go through a lot of answers.

I think Carpet of Flowers is a meta call but if you have lot's of blue slingers, it's still a fit as it's basically a ritual.

I found Past in Flames too clunky. I'd replace it with Snapcaster Mage or something to get a cheaper hit. I still felt I needed a Toxic Deluge to deal with Hate Bears. When I was playing, rocks were much more important than the couple dorks I had and Deluge allowed me to get through things like Eidolon of Rhetoric, Ethersworn Canonist. I think Rakdos Charm or Natural State should deserve a slot to get through Null Rod / Stony Silence.

I'll keep testing and let you know what I find. Card's that felt worse were Vandalblast (it's sorcery, I think Natural State is better), Bring to Light (Never found it necessary for the investment), Reality Shift (no great way to recur it), Intuition (I might be playing this less correct but it's middling.).

Also, I'm now praying Paradox Engine isn't banned soon because this list is far stronger than anything else I've tested. Already got it on paper too. Boonweaver Giant combo, Doomsday combo, Food Chain combo are all pretty much less consistent/resilient.

miampizza: Thank you bud. I am glad you like the deck :-)

iamyoona: Thank you again for the excellent feedback brother :-)

I've been a bit distracted with other brews so I haven't been testing this deck as much as I would like. As such my perspective on cards may be a bit biased. With that being said I see what you mean on druid. Its a bad card that just happens to fit thematically. Dark confidant is a slightly worse fit but is 1000x better card.

Carpet of flowers is phenominal, I just hate having mana sources that dont tap in this deck. With that being said I agree in the right meta its perhaps too much value to pass up and sometimes diversity in mana ramp will save your ass (ex. stony silence & linvala).

Your assessment of past in flames is the same as mine was initially. However, the few times it came up for me it flat out won the game. I love that I can wheel it away and go off with it later. I'll keep it on my potential cut radar.

Toxic deluge is a great card, but I hate antisynergy in my decks. Moreover I try to avoid multiple board wipes in my combo builds given my tutor density. Since hate bears are less of an issue for me than for you I will keep just covenant.

I see how natural slate could be very good (especially for your meta), but given that my meta is full of rocks, being able to blow out multiple opponents without losing anything is just too much value to pass up. I will avoid naural for now since I already have 2 other cards in the deck that are essentially strictly better in nature's claim and abrupt decay.

One of the major subthemes in this deck is the wheel+fuck your hand. Bring to light fits that theme perfectly. With my 4 color mana base I can put into play notion thief for JUST 5 mana FROM MY LIBRARY and then winds of change for 6 mana in total. That is below the curve for demonic tutor :-() Or I can just grab a wheel. I love the card in theory, but given your experience ill keep an eye on how it performs in practice.

Reality shift essentially 3 card combos with engine and scepter. Its truly just a replacement for swords after I went to red from white, but the ability to exile all opponents libraries if my primary win condition gets ruined is pretty sexy. Especially since thrasios can use candlabra to gift my opponents creatures with forbidden orchard once I use his infinite mana sink.

Intuition is pretty great in this list, but its sometimes difficult to navigate.

As for your feelings on the list as a whole that makes me very happy that others are seeing what I am seeing. I have never been more excited with a list than I am with this one. It truly puts Leovold to shame. The deck has tested incredibly consistent and fast. I truly think it could give DD zur a run for its money and I dont say that lightly

A couple more quick thoughts for the day because I like this list so much.

What are your thoughts on Massacre and Reverent Silence as answers to hate bears and stax pieces respectively. I feel the former is extremely strong but the latter may be a bit unnecessary.

Lion's Eye Diamond I think still warrants testing in this list as the potential to go off with it is much higher than without. Have you tried it yet?

This deck looks like SOOOOO much fun! Just of curiosity though, do you think this style of deck would be good with Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder? I really like him and he basically helps you go off twice as fast. I'm also trying to build a similar Paradox Storm deck on a budget, do you have any reccomendations for cuts or replacements? Any help would be much appreciated! Anyways, this is a really cool brew and you did a great job on it!

With all of the artifact mana have you given thought to Paradoxical Outcome? You can use it to save stuff from a wipe or you can use it as a draw engine by floating mana, bouncing mana rocks, then drawing that many cards, then use that mana to recast the rocks.

January 11, 2017 12:16 a.m.

Lilbrudder says... #21

iamyoona: I think both those cards could be great. I never thought of LED but it has certainly got potential in this list.

z2aaa: Thanks buddy :-) This deck is for multiplayer. Hurkyl's Recall is very powerful. My only issue with it is that I really dont want to bounce Isochron Scepter and Paradox Engine. Painful Truths is really interesting. Ill have to give it a longer look. Thank you.

Ohthenoises: Paradoxical Outcome is great. Thank you :-)

The reason I thought of it is that silly ass vintage storm deck.

Every Mox you can squeeze in there. Play them all, tap them for 4 mana, outcome, draw, repeat, then tendrils for lethal

DimirAgent8: Thank you for your kind words. Yidris would also be a solid choice for this deck. His cascade is great and synergizes well with what the deck wants. I just prefer Thrasios because his mana sink makes dramatic scepter a 2 card combo and he also can keep the card advantage going if you run out of cards in hand but have a ton of mana off engine. Also Thrasios is not essential to cast or use at all most games, which gives more freedom to how I play the deck.

On a budget I would replace the insanely expensive cards i.e Timetwister with cards like Wheel of Fate since it synergizes so well with Yidris. Cheapening the land base wouldnt hurt the deck too much since I dont use cards like High Tide that need ABUR duals to be effective. I would maybe consider a haste enabler or two. To be honest my knowledge of Yidris is fairly limited. I would also encourage you to look at NarejED's Yidris storm brew as he usually makes the best decks you will find for any particular general.

Here you go

I think Squandered Resources might work here.

January 11, 2017 5:03 p.m.

Lilbrudder says... #25

That sounds very risky but it could be solid since it could accelerate me some and give me some color fixing on the combo turn, which is always helpful. I generally try to avoid blowing up my own lands, but Ill give it a few test runs and see how it goes
