Nekusar is easily one of my favorite Commanders of all time, mostly because he does something different than my usual Commanders. Sure, I have my crazy Necromancer EDH, I have my Zur enchantment EDH, and I have Phenax for mill, but Nekusar does something truly wonderful and bizarre: he weaponizes draw.

The primary damage dealt by this deck comes from overwhelming the opponents with card draw. Cards like Nekusar, Spiteful Visions, and Phyrexian Tyranny, punish the opponents for drawing, using Howling Mine style effects to keep a consistently absurd number of cards drawn per turn.

These work in tandem Iron Maiden to punish high hand sizes, dishing out a consistent amount of damage each turn. Combine that with Sudden Impact, Runeflare Trap, and Stormbreath Dragon, and the hand size is suddenly being thrown back in the opponent's face for heavy damage.

Counterspells and discard cycles serve as my disruption. Having the opponent drawing answers to my draw machine would be problematic, so having cards like Windfall and Sire of Insanity keep the opponents on the ropes, tossing their hand each time they start to get comfortable. Counterspells provide a similar effect, never knowing what might actually get through.

And that's practically it, despite a few one-offs (Damnation, etc.).

Card Draw engines, Card Draw punishment, Counterspells, and Disruption.
