Animation Module+ Metallic Mimic. Disgusting combo for standard. Accompanied by a pretty control shell makes for a mean deck.




This is crazy good. This combo could honestly dominate standard.

Did you consider Mechanized Production? It gives you another win condition by getting to 8 servos... Which with the Hidden Stash card you could do pretty much on upkeep in response to the trigger... Oh shit that's amazing...

With Cryptolith Rite it could go infinite as early as turn 4. I'll need to do some brewing with this. Great idea!

Actually turn 3 if you have an Ornithopter and Servo Exhibition. It would be the nut draw, of course, but hilarious if you can pull it off.

I think you need more ways to re-trigger the combo, since you can't just go off like you can with sword/thopter. Glint-Sleeve Artisan and Weaponcraft Enthusiast would be good cards to keep the combo going and can gum up the board to keep you alive in the meantime.

Could anyone clarify how you would go inf with Cryptolith Rite? Dont the servos have summ sickness? or am I just being stupid and missing something crucial xD

Hey Everyone!! Thanks for all the support. I have read through all of the comments and taken all suggestions into consideration. I will be updating the decklist today with some of the suggestions and some cards that were spoiled yesterday. Thanks guys!!

Most of you have to keep in mind that Thopter =/= Servo. So Ornithopter doesn't trigger the combo (except when you have two Shapeshifter, one naming thopter).

When I suggested Ornithopter, it was only to get another Animation Module trigger for 0 CMC.

Yeah, but you don't get a trigger. Ornithopter is a Thopter, for the Combo you would have to name "Servo" though. Except when you change your build so you can name "Thopter". :D

You also need Master Trinketeer and Marionette Master some 1 or 2 kambal in your sideboard, Authority of the Consuls mainboard along the Trophy Mage i mentioned earlier, maybe some Glint-Nest Crane.

Wow, this has the potential to be soooo powerful. Only problem I'm seeing is mana consistency. You have double white, triple blue and double black cards, and though you are running a lot of duel lands I think you should probably cut some splashy expensive cards like Whir of Invention for easy to cast cards that can get you servos. Another potential option is trying to run more artifacts along with Spire of Industry. Anyway this seems incredibly powerful.

The combo between ballista and the module doesn't work because they have the counters when they enter the battlefield, the counters are not placed on the servos.

Spire of Industry is almost a must for your mana base with all of the multicost cards in here... Maybe even a couple Aether Hubs too..

Walking Ballista will trigger Animation Module. The permanent Walking Ballista ETB, then the effect is put on the stack. So, you have a permanent in play that is getting +1/+1 counters put on it, which puts the module's trigger on the stack.

I really like the combo here with Torrential Gearhulk and Whir of Invention.You can avoid the 3 U mana cost. Tap out mana/artifacts, and grab maybe a noxious.

Xazrael sadly that doesn't actually work. For Torrential Gearhulk any instant you cast for free is paid for by the gearhulk entirely. So that means all X spells have X set at 0. If it was a kicker or an escalate type of deal then it could work because that's additional costs and modes, but straight X spells don't work.

That's a great combo. I'm questioning some card choices like Sram's Expertise and no fourth Animation Module, but this combo is brilliant. Fatal Push is op and will see modern play. 4x? Angel of Invention seems unnecessary as well. I'd cut out white altogether, but you might not want to. Then again, Hidden Stockpile seems really good. Well done!

Oooo I'm sorry VoidDrummer I didn't realize what you were saying and your absolutely right! Metallic Mimic's ability is a replacement ability so no counter is PLACED on the servo it simply comes into play with one on it meaning Animation Module will not trigger

Why the hell is this standard so broken! Seriously, we got this combo, we got jeskai twin, we got dreadnought, and there's probably a bunch of other stuff.

Henryb19 Animation Module's ability will trigger even if a permanent enters the battlefield (no longer: comes into play [C.R. 403.5]) under your control with +1/+1 counters on it, since counters being "placed" on a permanent refers to this case too (C.R. 121.6).

I think Cogworker's Puzzleknot is a much better choice than Servo Schematic. As I see it there is no easy way to get the schematic into the graveyard for the second trigger, apart from the Herald of Anguish of course, but that feel more like a win-more move.

With the puzzleknot you can sacc it at instant-speed in an opponents end-step triggering your module combo and making servos with all spare mana whilst also holdup up for example a counterspell. Its like the Herald without the a big body everyone is gonna focus their removal on.

Just a thought :)

Why not replace Spire of Industry with Westvale Abbey  Flip? It seems you certainly go wide enough with servos to flip Ormendahl, Profane Prince  Flip.

Also, if you can squeeze in Thraben Inspector, they would produce 2 servos when Thraben dies and Clue is sac'ed if Hidden Stockpile is out. Clue would also trigger Contraband Kingpin scry ability.

Why not take your combo to the next level with Fretwork Colony? It pretty much turns it into: pay 1 life and pay X, make x 2/2 creatures per turn.

I've been testing it in GW tokens and it's I save there as well, also it doesn't go infinite with Cryptolith Rite be ause the servo's don't have haste

Hey, I just played your deck against my Kai's GW Servo Tribal about 20 or so times and I have a few comments.

One, I don't think you should be playing white. But if you really think you want you, I think you should really increase the number of lands that produce white mana and increase your investment in white. 30 of those 20+ games you were stuck doing nothing for 4 turns because all the cards in your hand needed white and you had none (Hidden Stockpile, Anguished Unmaking, Sram's Expertise). Additionally, I feel you should make room for Yahenni's Expertise for somewhere in the 75.

Tezzeret the Schemer and Tezzeret's Touch just don't seem good in here. They do nothing the deck wants to be doing, and I would cut both for another Animation Module, two Reverse Engineers and a Yahenni's Expertise

I personally like the Tezzeret's Touchs, they allow your dead Animation Modules to come in for some surprise damage or having a 5/5 on turn 3 (still dies to Fatal Push though)

This isn't a bad deck. It's neat. But there's no way this could be tier 1, because as soon as you get disrupted, you're done. Natural State, Structural Distortion, a bunch of cards that can kill tokens before they get huge...it's just too easy to sideboard against. You should at least have some Selfless Spirit in there to prevent board wipes (other than the -2/-2 Madness card in black).

I tried to build a deck with Azorius colours. I play Inspiring Statuary, Trophy Mage, Sphinx of the Final Word, Cloudblazer and Part the Waterveil.

It works very well.
