Trying to keep this budget for one thing. Elvish Archdruid is perfect and I totally agree he should be in here. But. A lot of my decks latley have been based around elvish ramp. So, I'm trying to keep from using Elvish Archdruid ;). Keeper of Progenitus I might sub in for Llanowar Mentor . Thanks for the comments and +1's :).

Have you thought about using Cloudpost /Glimmerpost /Vesuva or the Urza's Lands? I've been working on a Mindslaver deck with the Urza's lands and am going to use them with Everflowing Chalice and Voltaic Key to get a good amount of mana quickly. I think this could work here as well if you're willing to take ~12 forrests out for colorless lands. None of these cards are that costly either :)

Overgrown Battlement , Vine Trellis , Everflowing Chalice , Cloudpost , and especially something like Ensnaring Bridge to keep anything from attacking you so you don't have to deal with triggers from attackers or creature removal targeting Platinum Emperion .

@ducttapedeckbox. Your Cloudpost /Glimmerpost /Vesuva Comment is valid. But, it seems like once I get Platinum Emperion +Aspect of Mongoose the game is over. I can get Helix Pinnacle up to 100 counters surprisingly easy with Keeper of Progenitus .

Everflowing Chalice could be awesome]]

I would say what I most need help with is the early game. Because of Magus of the Vineyard helping my opponent along, it can get ugly quick. Any cards that just flat out say creatures can't attack me? Ensnaring Bridge seems to tough to utilize

Thanks for the comments and +1's! ;)

Feel free to post any decks you would like me to comment on, and I would be happy to comment and +1 :).

This is a very cheap way around the early game problem... but Fog is basically a green Holy Day . Or for creatures, I can think of two things: Phantom Tiger and Phantom Nantuko could help stall; or, Sprouting Phytohydra keeps coming back, which makes it an effective blocker. Although it has a CMC of 5.. Those are just some random thoughts but I hope they help!

In the meantime could you check out my Mindslaver deck? It needs some work...deck:casual-and-cheap-mindslaverurzatron

Ok, it seems like the problem is Magus of the Vineyard and Keeper of Progenitus boosting my opponent's mana quickly, eventually ending the game. Any suggestions to help with that problem would be awesome ;).

July 25, 2012 10:42 a.m.

Too bad you don't splash blue... Mana Short would be a fix for 1 turn. How about Omnath, Locus of Mana ? Atleast it'll allow you to use the green mana and not waste any

July 25, 2012 12:26 p.m.

Never mind, all of the extra mana would be used on Helix Pinnacle

Mkay, what about Planar Cleansing , Day of Judgment , Naturalize , Erase , Stony Silence to name just a few lol. OH and what about Nevermore .

Oh, and what do you do about Slagstorm ?

August 11, 2012 12:36 p.m.

buffy says...

#13

By turn 3 or 4 I hope to have a Platinum Emperion . They can't kill that with a Slagstorm .

Also, this is a modern casual deck, I'm not gonna be playing in any tourny's.

This deck is mono-green, I'm not sure I wanna splash white.

Playtest the deck, see what you think :). Thanks for the comments!

In my first post I was referring to what are you going to do about those cards?

August 11, 2012 1:29 p.m.

buffy says...

Most of those cards are sideboard cards. Think I should put up an entirely different strategy in my sideboard so I can sub it in when need be?

If you're going to go that far I suggest adding in Genesis Wave lol. Should help.

Well, I can't think of anything to stop the board sweepers :/.

August 11, 2012 1:41 p.m.

minosmagnus says...

#18

Yup, that's why you use G-Wave and add in Fervor to make sure your creatures can attack that turn for alpha and also, if you're worried about board sweepers just add Asceticism .

buffy says...

I went -4 Rites of Flourishing +4 Asceticism , better?

In place of Aspect of Mongoose or Asceticism , I would put Darksteel Plate . No more board sweeper problem, except if it's exiled (so keep a few hexproof stuff).

Soo what turn turn do you normally get out emperion?

3 or 4 :)

Hmm that worries me as with my affinity modern deck: deck:domo-arigato-mr-roboto I'm usually at lethal damage on turn 3-4. You might need some answers to fast aggro decks like affinity, ESPECIALLY playing Magus of the Vineyard . (If you play him turn one I'll dump out 3 creatures and one with a Cranial Plating equipped on my turn 1.) Ratchet Bomb comes to mind for one thought.

August 23, 2012 6:17 p.m.

buffy says...

#26

Yeah, the main problem with this deck is helping my opponent out. It can beat aggro decks, like werewolves and the like. But your right, I need help with helping my opponent along with cards like Magus of the Vineyard and Keeper of Progentius.Any suggestions?

August 23, 2012 11:36 p.m.

buffy says...

#27

Oops, Keeper of Progenitus .

Fog and other similar cards : Blunt the Assault , Clinging Mists , Terrifying Presence ... or in white, Holy Day , Pollen Lullaby , Angelsong , Batwing Brume , Safe Passage ... and Isochron Scepter to cast them all the turns. Check out turbo-fog decks for ideas ?

For your mana, you could also add Noble Hierarch , and card:Avacyn's Pilgrim if you go down the white road.

August 24, 2012 4:32 a.m.

Ohthenoises says...

Fog imo is your best option. Affinity also runs Inkmoth Nexus so you MIGHT need some land hate. (Also, land hate will screw over tron decks.)

August 24, 2012 7:04 a.m.

cosmo0 says...

#30

And for land hate, Acidic Slime is good ; it is versatile, and it also has deathtouch, which could slow down aggro decks if you don't have any fog effect in hand.

First things first. I can't be able to counter EVERY deck. There just isn't enough room. What would I take out if I were to put in some Fog s?

August 24, 2012 3:44 p.m.

Ohthenoises says...

Two of the most common decks in modern, based on recent tourney events, are affinity and Tron. Affinity runs a VERY low land count as everything is a 1-2 drop with a smattering of 3 drops so if you are able to pop that turn 1-2 land Most affinity decks are toast. Tron relys on the urza lands oh so much so if you pop that you have time.

What I think I am suggesting is Ghost Quarter , not a full set mind you, but 2 of them. (A basic will never be as good as a Tron land and affinity doesn't run any basics most times.)

This deck, and me in general, are all for the kitchen table :). I still might go 2x Ghost Quarter though :D.

August 24, 2012 6:12 p.m.

I like the take no damage plus the ability to make it indestructable. That would be a epic deck
