i agree with the Thunderous Wrath i will try taking out one some diff things for them but i cant part with the mortars they are my board wipes
Bonfire of the Damned over Mizzium Mortars , all day every day. Everyone seems to think Mizzium Mortars is this fantastic card when, in actuality, it's fairly average.
2x Desolate Lighthouse over 2x Mountain .
Great Izzet deck! The one I built uses the Izzet goblins a bit more Curious Goblins but it may have a few ideas you'd like for this deck. =)
Also, I love Mizzium Mortars ! 2 mana to fry a single creature, 6 mana for a potential board wipe. Bonfire of the Damned is great and all, but to hard cast it it'd take 9 mana to compete with the overloaded Mizzium Mortars , and if you happen to get a lucky draw of it on the turn you want to use it, it'd still be 5 mana to do the same 4 damage. I prefer the morter anytime.
Mizzium Mortars might deal more damage, but is 4 really what you need? Most decks nowadays would be wiped against a Whipflare .
And you all seem to be forgetting that Bonfire also hits your opponent's life total. Is 5 mana really too much for a one-sided Whipflare and a Shock to the dome? And that's if you just hard-cast it. Miracle makes that 3 mana. You can't get that much value out of Mortars.
i absolutly will put in Bonfire of the Damned when i get them but for now the Mizzium Mortars will have to do. i appreciate all the advice
Seems solid enough, ill have to try it out, more solid that the Goblin Electromancer route. I was talking with a buddy of mine and we honestly cant see delver coming back as strong as it once was. i played a mono blue delver that worked wonders, I'm not sure it belongs in izzet. But i can give you some pointers. 1. devler was perfect before because of card draw, Inaction Injunction is a great card, delays your opponent and DRAW A CARD. awesome. Lastly I'd suggest maybe Cyclonic Rift Pretty cool card, not quite an unsummon but targets more nasties.
i appreciate the advice i personally see the Mizzium Mortars as a better choice than the Cyclonic Rift but i will think about the Inaction Injunction
It isn't really a secret that Bonfire of the Damned is better than Mizzium Mortars , but I think it's more a consistency thing. In my experience, Bonfire is reall hit or miss. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing both in here, Mizzium for early game kill and Bonfires for the lucky draws.
yeah i have been playing this deck for a fe days now and ive come to love the Mizzium Mortars
made a few changes see if you like or not took out Talrand, Sky Summoner just because i dont think he is going to be as good in the new meta and it actually helped alot i did +2Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and +1 card:Devil's Playalso ended up putting in Inaction Injunction instead of Dissipate
yeah card:Devil's Play is a great late game kill for big nasties. i will side board Talrand, Sky Summoner but Tamiyo, the Moon Sage is a great all star for late game especially
Not sure that you need Cavern of Souls for your 2 humans. They might end up gimping you when you go to play/snapcast an Izzet Charm .
ok i like your deck but i find Syncopate card:Devil's Play and Delver of Secrets Flip a little suspect in this deck first for counters may i suggest Essence Scatter or Dispel less flexible but im sure your izzet charms will cover you card:Devil's Play um its flash back is massive and its cmc .. if u pay 5 you still only burn for 3 may i suggest Thunderbolt again a little less flexible but cheap and nasty to flyers im sure your snap caster would like this card a little better to. Delver of Secrets Flip i can see why he is appealing his high chance to transform and low cost is pretty good but may i suggest replacing him with draw cards the more you draw and the cheaper your cards the bigger your burn Guttersnipe loves it when you spam loads of cards in one turn. all in all these suggestions are highly opinionated and whats your thoughts on cards like Unsummon and Peel from Reality . peel and snapcaster + guttersnipe is something i find fun. play snap caster, flash back piller, there turn peel your snapcaster back and now you can snapcast again
i appreatiate the adice but card:Devil's Play is my only ability to kill big nasties i understand that it is not very cheap to do but it can also be a 2 cast 3 damage if Guttersnipe is out. also Syncopate is really good i love it cause say my opponit is at 7 life. i can kill them with 3 mana if a guttersnipe is out. i can Searing Spear and thenSyncopate my own spell taping nothing for x so unless i pay 0 so they both resolve with Guttersnipe thats 7 damage to them. thats why i use Syncopate just cause i can use it for a counter or i can do cool tricks
might i say Syncopate for 0 just to do damage is a dirty trick lol. hmmm card:Devil's Play i still find a little suspect but i guess it is important to be able to kill bigger threats. typically for blue i would just Unsummon big creatures. i had a thought for this deck to change Delver of Secrets Flip to Deranged Assistant , it sounds like it has its risks though might try that in a flashback variant of this deck
What I learned Keeps zombies off is Slumbering Dragon I also run a deck similar to this however its very fast and very dirty. Today we had a tourny and everyone played zombies and I aced them all because I could just bounce everything they had, and burn them or board wipe. Izzet Staticaster is also a friend since many zombies are low toughness early on. The Dragon prevents them from swinging at you and when they do its all but over because you have an 8/8+ with flying ruining their day, plus some snipes dealing that fat 2 each spell you drop, so Unsummon and Cyclonic Rift make a great stall tactic while you burn them slowly. No zobie deck is safe and once you snapcaster pillar of flames to exile all there undying zombies they have no where to run.
For Green white you need to also keep sending card back to there hand, unless its Thragtusk, you want to Searing Spear those. Most g/w have few flyers so Delver can fly right in for great damage.
Also try Vexing Devils, really great for early 4 damage or a nice beefy creature turn 1. Same strat on g/w with zombies the Slumbering Dragon will save your life every time. You pop one turn 1, they cant swing and when they do they will make it stronger and stronger so you can block there big guys or fly over and deal massive damage, all while burning them with direct spells.
is the deck I run and from how it preformed today it was REALLY working well. (other than G/W/R anything with Burn spells, Thragtusk and Resto angle then you can say goodbye and just quit, cause its not possible to beat it. )
Also! I forgot to mention. Vs Zombies Annihilating Fire cleans them up REAL nice.

If I was you, I would take out one Mizzium Mortars and at least one Think Twice and find maybe some low cast creatures who could be a pain like Nivmagus Elemental . Or maybe for 2 Thunderous Wrath because that can be a late draw game winner or with Guttersnipe out its a one cast 7 damage.
