First Ever Gameday! —Feb. 13, 2017

My first ever Gameday and this deck was a blast to play! However, my record was 0-2-1 haha...

Mardu Vehicles...holy crap. Very powerful deck that was pretty consistently awesome. BG counters were brutal. Aetherworks Marvel deck was really interesting to play against and I appreciated how fun it was. Now that I know my current meta better, I'm going to make changes to accompany that.

I'm updating the deck with some changes. Cards I'm now considering even more after learning the Standard meta: Metalwork Colossus, Aethersphere Harvester, Bastion Inventor and probably some others that I will post.

I'm going to play around with some changes and I will update after testing. Cheers!

I've been playtesting this and it seems a little slow. Are there alternate win conditions that i'm missing?

Thanks for playtesting! It's meant to be slow, have answers with spot removal and wide removal and as soon as Marionette Master is in play you can start sacking artifacts. Your opponent will lose 4 life per artifact which is amazing with Tezzeret the Schemer's first ability and things like Renegade Map or puzzleknots. Alternate wincon would be Tezzeret's Touch beatdown and Tezzeret's ultimate. Any suggestions?

I feel like there are a couple popular decks that will go over the top of this, like G/B Aggro.

@TheHolmcross Yeah they might, which is why I mainboard plenty of removal, but I'm really not sure what I should do to make this better. Maybe Herald of Anguish?

My UB deck doesn't run as many artifacts, but I still have 3 Herald of Anguish main. You could swing a playset. Making Fatal Push a playset would be great since you have a lot of free sac outlets. Maybe also consider Metalwork Colossus, since you have so many noncreature artifacts.

Weaponcraft Enthusiast would be good in this deck.

@Wiggyman I like Weaponcraft Enthusiast a lot but since I run Yahenni's Expertise I feel like it might be counter-productive...but at the same time if I have him out there with his two servos + Marionette Master then Yahenni's Expertise my opponent may lose creatures and take at least 8 damage. I'll play around with it. Thank you!

Bastion Inventor seems pretty amazing against control. Dodges Fatal Push and Grasp of Darkness.

@Naj187 I really love improvise and hexproof, so he's a strong possibility. I think you're right with him for sideboard.

I don't really see Spire of Industry good in this deck. But Blighted Fen or Mirrorpool sound better to control the field.

@sandoval1 Spire of Industry is actually very important for mana fixing. If you notice, I have a few cards that use double mana symbols which can cause issues if you don't properly fix, for example imagine I have Yahenni's Expertise and Reverse Engineer in my hand, the chances of having the right mana will be rough with just basic lands.

yea but you fix that bye using Renegade Map and Terrarion bye getting your colors fast and you can add 2 Prophetic Prism it can help you draw and change color.

@sandoval1 Yeah true. I'm going to play around with what you suggested and other utility lands and see what I can do. Thank you for the ideas!

Not a bad build. My current standard deck, Dimir Aetherborn Fun is rather similar to this build, but I try to focus more on getting servos out instead of just any artifacts. 1/1 blockers that count as artifacts are, in my mind, better. Try playing around with some Syndicate Traffickers to get Marionette Master to trigger more often.

Thanks for the suggestion Riclamin_Silentread! I agree servos make great artifacts since they can block and serve as an artifact, but the big reason I didn't want to use them was because I was running 2-3 Yahenni's Expertise and that seems very counterproductive. I'm going to make a different UB build to play with that utilizes more aggro style with artifacts, test that, and see which style I like more. Thanks!

February 8, 2017 11:08 p.m.

Even with Yahenni's Expertise, the Marionette Master would still trigger from the servos dying. It's a great end-game if you have around 4-5 servos on the field. That translates to 16-20 damage to your opponent.

FullmetalWes says... #18

@Riclamin_Silentread Very true, but normally I want to play the expertise on turn 4-5 to clear my opponents board and the Marionette Master doesn't come out till turn 6 normally. If I wanted to play master on turn 6 then expertise wouldn't be until turn 7 and the card will probably a lot less of an impact by then. I'll totally play around with it and see which is more consistent/effective.
