Minor Updates —Aug. 20, 2017

I was able to pick up a number of cards through trades at a recent GP, including some that I never thought I'd be lucky enough to have like a Revised Taiga.

I made some minor adjustments to the mana based like the inclusion of Command Tower, Canyon Slough, Taiga, and Ghost Quarter. I am still torn between Ghost Quarter, Drownyard Temple, and Ghost Town in that slot. All have great utility value, but I am apprehensive of cutting other lands for more than one of those three. I know I could cut basics, but I need a critical mass of those for some of my combos. If you have a suggestions I am all ears.

I swapped Phyrexian Arena for Elemental Bond. While a weaker card all around, Elemental Bond is still quite potent in this deck and a little easier on the mana base.

I am still on the fence about Worm Harvest since this isn't a dedicated Gitrog deck. It has such a high ceiling, but a very low floor. I might replace it with another haste enabler like Anger or Urabrask the Hidden, or one of the many cards in my maybeboard.

Hi, very cool deck! I would suggest adding Scapeshift, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, Cloudstone Curio (free landfall bounce every turn), Prismatic Omen (combos with valakut), and Survival of the Fittest (pitch a creature to Gitrog, while able to reanimate creature later with commander). I've created a 4 color version without red and it is a blast to play with. Feel free to check mine out for more ideas! +1

Thanks Enral for the suggestions. I was originally avoiding Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle because I forgot about Prismatic Omen and didn't have enough mountains haha. I think I didn't include Scapeshift initially because because it is so expensive and I was worried about accidentally decking myself while setting up some of the combos in the deck, but I should revisit its inclusion for sure. What might you suggest taking out for some of your suggestions?

The one thing I'd recommend to make the deck more consistent is the obvious thing: more tutors. Vampiric Tutor and Worldly Tutor are good additions, but other than that, all the cards I would recommend are in your maybeboard. As for the Adun vs Xira debate, I'm a big fan of Xira as she is a sort of mana sink in the late game and a way to protect Life from the Loam from exile.

Thanks PlattBonnay for the suggestions. You make a solid point for Xira. I have been noticing that I need more card draw when play testing the deck, but I think I am settling on Adun. His reanimation ability goes a long way in ensuring I always have a way to reanimate important creatures. However, I am looking to add in Sylvan Library and Vampiric Tutor to help address this issue. I am not sure what to replace yet though.
