I think Red Deck Wins is getting some good options for burning everything that hits the board, Thermo-Alchemist is just a bonus. Aethertorch Renegade is great in theory, but I don't think you have enough ways to get energy counters. Weaver of Lightning is a better blocker and I think he might be better used with the amount of triggers for him that you have in the deck. Harnessed Lightning is a little weak, unless you can stock up on energy counters, but does give you some more options. There is an interesting combo between casting Harnessed Lightning on your own Mirrorwing Dragon and then not using any of the counters for damage. You will get 2 energy counters for each copy that targets each of your creatures. That could be a way to get extra energy counters, if you are dead set on using the renegade. Also, Mirrorwing is incredibly hard to kill, as anything the opponent casts that targets MD is copied and reflected at their own creatures. So, my suggestion is switch out 2 renegades for 2 mirroring and see if that will give you some more options. Good luck with it.

Found this, Dynavolt Tower, may be an answer for your energy issue.

Lol, you're welcome. Make sure you take Weaver out of the description. I love the idea.

Shreds of Sanity seems pretty good

frogkill45 I tried having that in there, but the only cheap options to take back is Fiery Temper, Galvanic Bombardment (which gets worse when you pull it out), and maybe Incendiary Flow. I will add it to my maybes board though because I like the idea of it but I think 28 burn will do just fine without having to bring things back.

its mostly to bring back collective defiance and possibly cast a Fiery Temper

It needs more drawing power. You will either have to burn them slowly, in which case they can still overpower you, or you run out of cards, in which case if you didn't kill them you are screwed. Definitely a playset of cathartic reunion.

Tormenting Voice might be better just incase Catharic Reunion gets countered you dont lose 3 cards.

Bedlam Reveler might give some gas

I had Tormening voice in there previously and I took it out for Dynavolt Tower. What should I take out to add tormenting voices back in?

Maybe Flame Lash?

Kameronmcl to expensive when compared to Lightning Axe / Fiery Temper and Incendiary Flow. Thank you though

I've been fiddling around with a similar build, and here's what I would recommend.

-Ditch Avacyn's Judgment. If you've got enough mana on the field where X spells are a viable option, then the deck is probably too slow. I'd swap out for Flame Lash, you get 4 damage for 4 mana rather than 4 for 5. Not as good as Exquisite Firecraft, but it will have to do.-Sideboard Lightning Axe and put in 2 or 3 of Bedlam Reveler. This card is amazing in a Burn deck, because you get so many S and I cards in your graveyard so fast that it almost always cost 2-3, with the benefit of refilling your hand. The Prowess is just icing on the cake, and can even give you another win-con. Just don't go a full set of 4, otherwise they show up in your hand too often and bog it down.

In any case, +1, and you've given me some ideas for my own deck. If you want to see it, here you go. Thermo Burn KLD

Awesome deck. +1

I'll come back if i happen to find fitting cards for this :)

First off, love the deck! I'm strongly thinking of building a version of this myself. One option I would consider is tossing in a Pair of Goblin Dark-Dwellers over something like Avacyn's Judgment.

If you think about it, you almost never want to for the Hard Cast, it's much better on the Madness, but it is extremely conditional at best. Most of the time you don't want to cast an X burn for less than 5 anyways so it fits the same cost. It hits any spell in your arsenal, plus you get to trigger off the "Flashback" for Alchemist and Dynavolt since the oracle says you Cast the spell for free.

Just a thought to mull over.

Mornelith so the reason I have Avacyn's Judgment is because I consider it a win condition due to it being able to target player. If late game my Thermo-Alchemist get destroyed Avacyn's judgment can deal a solid 5 or six damage to a player. Hence only two of them. However I do like Goblin Dark-Dwellers but and really only Fiery Temper or Collective Defiance would be worth taking from the graveyard. I am going to try and Playtest with that tonight. Thanks!

What are your thoughts on Spark of Creativity? Cheap card advantage or more removal.

Zienem says... #18

Nixin72 so with Spark of Creativity I view it as there are only 3 cards in the deck that have a CMC of 3 giving me about 11 chances to make Spark GREAT, but! 7 of those are creatures I need, the other 4 cards are a card that lets me deal 3 directly to a player for 3 or 1 with madness (Fiery Temper). Then the 2 CMC cards I have all deal more damage than the CMC would offer from spark or they are draw cards that I could use more. So really I view it as a great red deck wins cards for maybe an aggro creature deck but not for this deck. Thanks for your input I appreciate it!

That's a perfectly fair evaluation if you ask me. I totally agree :)
