Sideboard Changes —Aug. 29, 2013

Took out Craterhoof Behemoth for Gaea's Herald. It really had no place in this deck and was pretty much just a win-more in this deck. Also took out Vines of Vastwood. It was hard to keep the G open when I expected a burn spell and it only delayed them a little and me a lot.

I like this deck list a LOT. Very nicely done! The only suggestion I can think of off the top of my head is Wellwisher :] If I think of anything else though, I'll point it out.

Thanks metalmoney, but I not sure how helpful Wellwisher would be. After all, this deck can outrace a lot of aggro decks and can empty the hand on turn three with an Elvish Archdruid and an Arbor Elf . This deck's strategy is just to swarm the opponent fast and with a huge amount of creatures.

Elvish Visionary and Imperious Perfect would be good. Elvish Visionary would up your hand advantage and Imperious Perfect would boost up everything you are putting out. Lys Alana Huntmaster is nice to have in order to get more elf tokens out, and I pair it with Ivy Lane Denizen to boost everything up by putting the counter on Joraga Warcaller . I love having Yeva, Nature's Herald in an elf deck just so that I can have flash for all green creatures once she is out. Most elf decks run around 15 mana just because there are so many opportunities for getting mana in other ways; such as Arbor Elf , Llanowar Elves , Elvish Archdruid , and once M14 comes out, a version of the Llanowar Elf called Elvish Mystic. By dropping your mana down, you can add more creatures without having to sacrifice.

Nettle Sentinel should be in this deck. He is a 2/2 beater, and he untaps when you play a green spell, so you can easily power out more elves with Heritage Druid.

I would play him over Ezuri's Archers . I would also suggest Genesis Wave and Craterhoof Behemoth for huge finishers.

Thank you LeaPlath! I always knew Ezuri's Archers didn't fit, but I could never think of a cheap one drop to replace it with. However, I have already considered Craterhoof Behemoth , and I didn't want to because a), I don't won't to add $16 to the price of this deck, and (b), I want this to stay a pure elf and land deck.

They ain't 16 dollars at the moment :P

But sure, that is very understandable. There is also a new card coming in m14 to replace Arbor Elves.

Another card to suggest is Devoted Druid. With Ezuri, you have a mana engine there.

I understand what you're saying, and I actually was thinking about replacing Ezuri's Archers with Elvish Mystic when M14 came out.

That combo is pretty good, but I would need 3 Devoted Druid s out to make it infinite, and my deck doesn't allow my opponent to survive long enough for me to go 3/4 of the way through my deck. Anyways, it's worth sideboarding, because I could potentially fetch 2 if I start with one in the hand with Elvish Harbinger .

Copperhorn Scout has a very strong interaction with Ezuri and your mana generating elves.

Thanks for the advice Sam_I_am, but I already tried that. If I have enough elves out, I already should have emptied my hand, and Copperhorn Scout will only survive if I use Ezuri, Renegade Leader s Overrun or I already have Joraga Warcaller out. In both cases, that attack that Copperhorn Scout could survive would be the one that ended the game.

If this had a splash of white, I'd suggest Gavony Township , and then if you make it Junk colors, Vault of the Archangel . Otherwise, super awesome deck, man.

Thanks for commenting, Markova. I might have put in Parallel Lives if I had 4 Rhys the Redeemed . However, I don't, and I am not very interested in spending $60 for a playset. Maybe I'll take something out of the sideboard for it. If Theros is disappointing, I might spend some more money on this deck.
