Thelon Casual EDH || The Cabbage Patch

Commander / EDH Aristocrats BG (Golgari) Casual Saproling Tribal

Diddle

WARNING: This deck is dumb and you're dumb if you choose to play it in any serious form. That being said, welcome to a strange guide on a strange commander, everyone's favorite fungusmancer, our boy, Thelon of Havenwood . This mold-growin, field-sowin, crop-hoein elf is here to buff up our assortment of fungus friends as they pump out a hearty serving of saproling supporters. Don't get too attached to those cute little grass-people though, because we thrive on throwing them into a wood-chipper as soon as we possibly can. Our big goal is to create an assembly line where every turn we can create at least 1 saproling, and then sacrifice it for our own benefit to something like Thallid Soothsayer or Nemata, Grove Guardian to kill our opponents dead!

This deck is great fun in the right environment, and may even win some low-power games given the right hand. If you really wanted to try and make this deck functional for some reason, consider picking up stuff like Doubling Season , Grave Pact , or maybe just buy some real cards and build something that isn't fungus tribal.

Ok, now we get down to some of the surprisingly complicated specifics. The first and most important of these is knowing what to choose with your "everything tribal" cards: In most cases we want to name Fungus with Vanquisher's Banner because we never actually cast a Saproling so we would never draw anything, however we do want to name Saproling for Obelisk of Urd because we will probably have more of those at the later parts of the game than we will have Fungi (Funguses? Mold People?). If you really want to go deep, it may occasionally be better to name Fungus with Obelisk if you have a fast start and just want to beat people down with what is normally your value engine.
