The Ur Dragon's Raging Rainbow Party Friends

Commander / EDH Aggro Dragons Five Color Tribal

Creature (1)

The Ur-Dragon has friends who are all colours of the rainbow. His parties tend to get out of hand though. Multiple haste enablers help his dragon buddies smash face quickly, especially that crazy Xenagos, God of the Revels (who invited that guy?). He also likes to engage in a little necromantic witchcraft at his parties, bringing back all his dead buddies with Patriarch's Bidding or Living Death. Please offer suggestions to help the Ur-Dragon party :)

The bane of 5 colour decks is not having the right colour of mana. The land base needs extra care. I've included the following lands to help:

Command Tower, Haven of the Spirit Dragon, and Path of Ancestry: Come with the precon and are no-brainers for keeping by fixing all 5 colours.

Ancient Ziggurat, City of Brass and Mana Confluence: All come with some downside but can tap for all 5 colours.

Crucible of the Spirit Dragon: Acts like a mana bank. Save mana on it in the early game and then spend it on a big dragon.

Ash Barrens: Can be pitched at instant speed for whichever basic land is needed for fixing.

Opal Palace and Cascading Cataracts: Either tap for colourless or allow you to convert mana into any colour.

"Shocklands": for now I have included the 7 shocks that count as either forests or mountains because red and green are the most important colours in the deck. I may eventually purchase and add the other 3. Stuck to 7 for now to save on costs.

"Fetches": similar to shocks, I don't own all of them and may gradually add more. The enemy coloured fetches are very expensive. If you have them, by all means add them. For now I have 3 of the allied colour fetches which can search for a mountain or forest: Windswept Heath, Bloodstained Mire and Wooded Foothills.

I have not included Transguild Promenade or Rupture Spire. Their tempo are just far too slow. I would only include these if you are on a very tight budget.

Urza's Incubator and Dragonspeaker Shaman: give large discounts on the costs of our dragons.

Birds of Paradise and Selvala, Heart of the Wilds: mana dorks that can tap for any colour.

Chromatic Lantern, commader's sphere , Darksteel Ingot, and Gilded Lotus: mana rocks that also fix colours.

Farseek, Nature's Lore, Skyshroud Claim, and Krosan Verge: Can search for shocklands.

Savage Ventmaw and Ramos, Dragon Engine: Dragons that can ramp for more dragons.

One of the weaknesses of aggro is that it can run out of fuel. Dragons get destroyed and you find yourself with an empty hand. Card draw is vital to keep the pressure going. I've emphasized card draw spells that benefit me from doing what I intend to do anyway: cast dragons and attack with them.

Temur Ascendancy, Elemental Bond, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, and Kindred Discovery all draw cards simply from dragons entering the battlefield.

Kindred Discovery (again), and The Ur-Dragon himself reward me for turning my dragons sideways.

Greater Good: turns dying dragons into card advantage.

Rishkar's Expertise is expensive to cast but so worth it. Even with only a smaller dragon on the field it can draw 4+ cards and then free cast another spell (possibly another dragon!).

Rhystic Study either slows opponents down or nets me cards, both things this deck wants.

Dragonlord Ojutai is Anticipate on a stick, giving card selection and draw every time he connects.

Selvala's Stampede isn't technically card draw but is certainly card advantage. 6 mana to cheat 4 permanents into play is a bargain.

Worldly Tutor and Green Sun's Zenith are the 2 tutors in the deck. I decided to opt for these instead of Sarkhan's Triumph just for their flexibility. Xenagos is a powerful win condition and these tutors let me fetch him up.

Fate Reforged Dragons

The 5 dragons from Fate Reforged are all included in the precon and I've found all of them to be helpful. All 5 of them give themselves and all other dragons you control some kind of buff. This is incredibly powerful even with just a couple dragons on the field.

Atarka, World Render: Double-striking dragons...oh my! Very often just finishes games.

Dromoka, the Eternal: Quickly buffs up creatures. Attacking with three dragons means that one of them is getting +6/+6 counters. That's a huge buff. Somewhat annoying when Birds of Paradise is on the field as it will be the bird that gets the buff. However, a 6/7 Birds of Paradise is rather hilarious.

Kolaghan, Storm's Fury: Again with just a few dragons this guy can give each one an impressive power buff.

Ojutai, Soul of Winter: This can be super annoying. It can lock down opponents' armies making retribution impossible.

Silumgar, the Drifting Death: Often acts as a one-sided boardwipe. The hexproof makes him very difficult to get rid of.

Other "Dragons Matter" Dragons

Utvara Hellkite: Poops out 6/6 dragons left, right, and centre. Gets out of control fast.

Scourge of Valkas: Can deliver an impressive amount of burn per dragon entering the battlefield.

Scourge of the Throne: Untaps all your dragons so they can swing in again. Bonkers with Xenagos, God of Revels.

Thundermaw Hellkite: Taps down enemy blockers to help get the alpha strike through.

Bladewing the Risen: Brings back fallen comrades. Bladewing also gives the whole team firebreathing.

The Dragonlords

I wanted to include all 5 of the Dragonlords for the sake of symmetry. However, I found Dragonlord Silumgar just didn't perform. He is much better in a control or aikido deck. The rest of the Dragonlords have found a home in here though.

Dragonlord Atarka: ETB deals 5 damage to creatures or planewalkers. Biggest, scariest dragon of the bunch with the exception of the Ur-Dragon.

Dragonlord Dromoka: Lifelink and some protection for the team.

Dragonlord Kolaghan: May seem like an odd inclusion in the deck but I find he hits hard. Combining him with any of the Fate Reforged dragons can create a lot of value and power out of nowhere.

Dragonlord Ojutai is Anticipate on a stick, giving card selection and draw every time he connects.

Other Dragons

Balefire Dragon: Essentially a one-sided boardwipe on a stick. Hoses "go-wide" token or tribal strategies.

Steel Hellkite: More removal on a stick that can take out key threats or eliminate a host of tokens for 0 activation cost.

Hellkite Tyrant: Steals all the shiny mana rocks and equipment that Commander players love to use.

Savage Ventmaw and Ramos, Dragon Engine: Ramping dragons. Ramos in particular can create a crazy amount of value.

Scalelord Reckoner: Rattlesnake in the shape of a dragon.

Wasitora, Nekoru Queen: Edict effect or token producer on a dragon.

Dragon Broodmother: One of the weaknesses of aggro is the vulnerability to retaliation attacks from opponents. The Broodmother provides chump blockers during each player's upkeep. Also a bomb with any "dragons matter" cards.

Opponents are going to want to destroy our scary dragons. Protection helps keep them around longer:

Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves: Commander protection staples.

Heroic Intervention and Boros Charm: Cheap instant speed protection for the whole team (including other permanents). The flexibility of Boros Charm is nice too.

Asceticism: Hexproof for the team and can regenerate dragons that die to a boardwipe or combat.

City of Solitude: Hoses counterspells, instant speed removal, and pillowfort effects. I love this card in aggro decks. Hurts control players far more than it hurts us.

Dragonlord Dromoka: Similar to City of Solitude. Prevents counterspells and other instant removal.

Scalelord Reckoner: the Karmic Justice of dragons. Makes opponents think twice before using that Path to Exile.

Usually opponents want to try to kill your dragons before your turn comes around again. Haste is incredibly important for getting damage in:

Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves: Commander haste-enabling staples.

Temur Ascendancy and Dragon Tempest: Cheap haste-granting enchantments. Dragon Tempest doles out a silly amount of damage in this deck.

Xenagos, God of Revels: Creates explosive power out of nowhere. Incredibly devastating with the Ur-Dragon himself.

Dragonlord Kolaghan: May seem like an odd inclusion in the deck but I find he hits hard. Combining him with any of the Fate Reforged dragons can create a lot of value and power out of nowhere.

Hanweir Battlements: Grants a creature haste for a small investment.

Inevitably some dragons are going to die. I've included a small reanimation package to get some extra value from our fallen comrades:

Patriarch's Bidding: Yes, this is symmetrical reanimation. However, I'd argue that it gives this deck more value than other decks (even most other tribal decks). Even bringing back 2-3 dragons from the grave for 5 mana is great value. If there is a haste-enabler, this card usually ends games.

Living Death: Another mass reanimator. Similar to Patriarch's Bidding the idea is to have a scarier suite of creatures to reanimate than our opponents. It also acts as a pseudo boardwipe if there is another player ahead of us in board presence.

Animate Dead: Very cheap reanimation spell to bring back a key dragon.

Bladewing the Risen: Mentioned above. Great recursive dragon.

Haven of the Spirit Dragon: Can be sacrificed later game to bring a dragon back to hand.

Every deck needs ways to interact with opponents' threats. Some of the removal in this deck can be found on the dragons themselves and are listed above. However, some instant speed removal and boardwipes are necessary when the going gets rough.

Anguished Unmaking and Beast Within: Flexible instant speed removal.

Swords to Plowshares and Swan Song: Dirt cheap to cast removal and protection.

Crux of Fate: Easy include. 5 mana for a one-sided boardwipe is great value.

Toxic Deluge: I included this one because it's cheap and also often acts as a one-sided boardwipe. It's easy to set X so it takes out other threats but leaves your dragons alive.

Picked up Polluted Delta and Flooded Strand. That completes my set of allied fetches, improving the mana base even more.

Trying out two cards in the deck:

Elvish Piper--->Fist of Suns: People have been encouraging me to give Fist of Suns a try as it does really help with casting my commander. I really like Elvish Piper though so I want to find a way to bring her back in.

Teneb, the Harvester --->Thundermaw Hellkite: I found myself very rarely using Teneb's ability. Again, I may try to fit him back in as he is a very solid dragon. Thundermaw Hellkite is a meta choice. My meta actually does often have a fair number of flying chump blockers, making it difficult for all my dragons to connect. Thundermaw Hellkite is great at ensuring damage gets through by tapping down potential blockers. He's very efficiently costed too as a 5/5 flyer with haste for 5 mana.

Can't build a dragon tribal without Crucible of Fire. To make the casting of dragons cheaper, I'd also recommend Dragonlord's Servant, Dragonspeaker Shaman, Urza's Incubator or Belbe's Portal. My dragon deck also uses Flameshadow Conjuring. Hope this helps; have fun!

NV_1980, thanks so much for the suggestions. A lot of those suggestions are in my maybelist, just trying to figure out where to make room! Flameshadow Conjuring looks sweet! I'll look into getting a copy

It might be worth it to consider running Amulet of Vigor here. Also Enlightened Tutor as a means to find it, or any of your other good enchantments/artifacts present.

Looks like an awesome list though so far, thank you for giving me the ideas of Skarrg, the Rage Pits and Kessig Wolf Run for my own The Ur-Dragon list I am just starting to build now.

Oh and might I suggest adding Chromatic Lantern, Prismatic Omen, and Cascading Cataracts to this.

I'm actually quite annoyed neither of those first two suggestions of mine were included in this precon.

Delta-117, thanks for your suggestions. Chromatic Lantern is already on my list (and I agree that it's annoying that it isn't in the precon). I'll throw in Cascading Cataracts...hadn't thought of that! Prismatic Omen I totally would...but I don't own one and it is a little pricey.

What leads you to suggest Amulet of Vigor? Because of the tapped "tri-lands"? Just trying to understand your reasoning.

thanks again for the feedback!

one lesser known way to make your drakes cheaper is Planar Gate - but at least in my country a buyout pushed it over 50 recently (thank goodness I was quicker). Check out if you can still get it cheap where you are.Beastcaller Savant is also a cheap and nice way. Considering lands, there was a new tri-land in the new Planeswalker Deck of Nicol Bolas. Maybe get a hold of it.

MegaMatt13, I'm still in the progress of putting up all the decks my wife and I own on tappedout. It's a bit of a slow process because of being busy and stuff; I've posted 11 now, still 32 commander decks to go ... I'll let you know as soon as the dragon deck is posted.

Id say you are in dire need of removal. Id eliminate alot of the double strike and pillow fort effects. Focus more on getting the dragons out fast and reliably, also draw power, and like i said before some removal or maybe counters instead to stop removal and boardwipes that head your way. They already hit like trucks. Dont really need to beef em up.

August 16, 2017 2 p.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #10

NV_1980: A total of 43 commander decks? oh my! you make my addiction seem reasonable hehe

Revenantmike: Really appreciate the feeback. I agree that the deck is lacking in removal. the card draw is decent but could be increased a bit too. The double strike, extra combat, and pillow fort effects were my attempt to make the deck a little bit more unique than just swinging with dragons. However, I agree that may not be necessary. If you had to choose between keeping double strike or extra combat...which would you keep? Any card draw suggestions you can think of?

Liscom, yeah Planar Gate is just too far out of my price range. Also, since my commander gives me a cost reduction from my command zone...i'm not actually sure how many more cost reduction effects I need. The deck runs quite a lot of ramp and cards like Elvish Piper and Selvala's Stampede which cheat stuff into play. I'll think about other cost reduction cards though! Thanks

August 16, 2017 6:33 p.m.

Revenantmike says... #12

Well for card draw luckily you are in five colors. I prefer stuff like Phyrexian Arena, Staff of Nin, and Mind's Eye, they arent too overpriced and do a decent job. Id go with extra attack phases if i had to keep one of those. I like the stuff that makes your dragons hexproof too id just keep that and ramp my dragons to hell. Add in Anguished Unmaking and Utter End maybe some counters to prevent board wipes nd id call it good. If u wanna do double strike or anthem effects id add in True Conviction and things like Akroma's Memorial and Eldrazi Monument.im personally thinking of adding in Dragonstorm and the worldgorger combo along with things like Purphoros, God of the Forge

HungryWampa says... #13

I am curious as to why you aren't running Scourge of Valkas? It has fantastic synergy with Utvara Hellkite, Dragon Broodmother, and Dragon Tempest. Personally I would have it replaceNiv-Mizzet, Dracogenius, because it offers far more ability damage, and it's cheaper. The only drawback(get it?:P)is you don't get the card advantage he offers, but you still have several other options available to you for that already, so its not hurting you very much in that regard.

August 17, 2017 4:10 p.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #14

HungryWampa, Scourge of Valkas isn't in the deck right now because I'm not sure how much damage he would actually do with his ETB. I don't envision my opponents allowing me to have many dragons on the battlefield at once. I agree Niv-Mizzet is one of the weaker dragons though. I've kept him so far simply for the card draw but he's on the chopping block. I'll put Scourge of Valkas on my maybe list. Thanks for the feedback :)

Revenantmike, Anguished Unmaking was already in there but I've added Utter End. Thanks for that suggestion! I'm not sure about the anthem effects. Eldrazi Monument is fantastic in token decks. I don't like the idea of sacrificing a 6-mana dragon every upkeep though. True Conviction could be good though. The double strike and lifelink make a potent combo. Of the card draw options you suggested, I really like Phyrexian Arena. Low casting cost and accrues value over time. Since it's a creature based deck, I'm thinking more creature-based draw spells could be good. Thanks again :)

Revenantmike says... #15

yes i forgot bout the sacrifice part of Eldrazi Monument. Perhaps adding something like Avacyn, Angel of Hope instead. Umm as for draw i forgot to mention Rhystic Study. Also a dragon wheel effect may be good with Dragon Mage. Im plannin on building ur dragon as well. When i get a list made ill link it. Might give ya some ideas.

If card draw is in question, Skyline Despot may be worth looking into. Though may under preform, depending on your play group, as the monarchy can be taken from you. Though, if they attack you, it procs O-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami.

August 20, 2017 5:19 p.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #19

jamindragons, I considered it. My deck is high CMC as it is with all the dragons. I wanted my boardwipes to be relatively cheap. That's why I've stuck with Toxic Deluge and Crux of Fate. Thanks for the suggestion!

KylerStar, I've played Skyline Despot in other decks and my experience is that it encourages people to attack me. I rarely got much card draw/tokens out of it. Appreciate the feedback.

High cost dragons decks really like Cryptic Gateway. Maybe yours has a spot for it?

August 22, 2017 2:38 a.m.

TheRedGoat says... #21

I figure you're limited by your collection, but you'll want less of the dragonlords and more of the fate reforged versions if you want really good tribal synergy. Otherwise you're really just running a goodstuff dragons build.

Though however you build I can safely recommend Celestial Dawn as one of many things you can use to instantly be color fixed. Joiner Adept works too.

August 23, 2017 12:24 a.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #22

TheRedGoat, thanks for those fixing options. I had forgotten about Celestial Dawn and had never heard of Joiner Adept! I'll look into them. In terms of the fate reforged dragons, I believe I'm only missing Silumgar, the Drifting Death and Ojutai, Soul of Winter. I've considered Silumgar as he effectively counts as a removal spell. I'm not sure about Ojutai though. Is 7 mana for a creature that taps things down worth it? I already have more 7-drops than I really want. What are your thoughts on Silumgar and Ojutai?

Etoilebane, I could see Cryptic Gateway being a great tribal card in a "go-wide" strategy. I'm not sure about it in here though. How often will I have two dragons I want to tap down (as opposed to attacking)? Appreciate the suggestion.

August 23, 2017 10:48 a.m.

Rabid_Wombat says... #23

Ojutai, Soul of Winter is most definitely worth it- I lost a game yesterday due to the dragonbird tapping out all of my draconic defenders...hella annoying.

I'd choose Quicksilver Amulet over Cryptic Gateway...like you said already- tapping down dragons is not the best way to play aggro.

plasmor99, they were here but have both been cut. Dragonlord's Servant was cut for Urza's Incubator which gives a better cost reduction and is an artifact (less vulnerable to removal). Fist of Suns only really gave me a deduction with casting my Commander...that's nice...but I rather run other ramp spells that can be used on anything. Thanks for the suggestions :)

September 8, 2017 7:34 p.m.

Revenantmike says... #28

I think you underestimate Fist of Suns. Getting it out and being able to cast your commander is amazing. He is a huge draw engine and lets u play a card for free. complete gamechanger once he comes out. Also i think Intet, the Dreamer and Scion of the Ur-Dragon deserve a spot. Intet also lets you play cards for three measly mana and scion is another gamechanger. From the last few games ive played these cards have completely changed the game in my favor.

September 9, 2017 12:31 a.m.

Rabid_Wombat says... #29

I run a few Tutors and Fist of Suns is my go to card for the same reasons..anything that can get the Big D out fast is an auto-include in my book.

September 9, 2017 4:44 a.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #30

Revenantmike and Rabid_Wombat: I've thrown in Intet. I was on the fence about him but I think he's worth trying out for the card advantage he generates. You may be right about Fist of Suns. I just don't know which ramp card to cut to make room. I'm hesitant to cut the ramp cards that fix my colours or reduce the cost of my dragons. I'm thinking maybe Mirari's Wake? Fantastic card though...I dunno lol. Fist of Suns is on the maybelist now though.

Revenantmike says... #35

MegaMatt13 I would say mirari is pretty weak in five color. You want as you said before color fixing. Getting double of the same color mana isnt nearly as helpful in five or four colors as it would be in three or less. Especially when your game changer needs all five of those colors. That being said mirari is still a great ramp card. i think fist will surprise you on its usefulness.

September 14, 2017 12:55 p.m.

I would replace the Crucible of the Spirit Dragon with Unclaimed Territory once Ixalan comes out. Also, have you considered Dragon Arch?

September 16, 2017 9:55 a.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #37

Attack_of_Mogis, definitely adding unclaimed territory when it comes out. I've thought about dragon arch but I would use Elvish Piper before it. I had Elvish piper for a little bit. However I found with all the cost reducing and ramp the deck didn't really need her. I may reconsider her though. Thanks for the suggestions :)

Rabid_Wombat says... #40

New mana base looks sweet...sure the shocks are expensive but you will be impressed by how much faster the Dragons hit the battlefield. Maybe consider Prismatic Geoscope due to the extra land types you are now running thanks to the shocks?

Running all ten fetches in my tribal Dragon deck means I don't have any spare for my other edh decks- trying to stuck to a budget yo!

October 1, 2017 12:26 a.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #41

Revenantmike, Unclaimed Territory was already in there :) Don't own Descendants' Path but I'll think about picking one up.

Rabid_Wombat, yeah the enemy fetches in particular are very expensive. I may stick with just the allied ones. My only problem with Prismatic Geoscope is that it enters the battlefield tapped. When I run a mana rock over land ramping it's because I want the benefit of being able to use it right away. The geoscope has the potential to generate a ton of mana though.

October 1, 2017 7:18 p.m.

New mana base looks pretty awesome. I have some recommendations though. The enemy fetches are expensive, but the Mirage slow fetches aren't. (Bad River, Rocky Tar Pit, Mountain Valley, Flood Plain, and Grasslands). I know that Prof over at Tolarian Community College recommends 10 fetches, so you could try those.

I still don't like Crucible of the Spirit Dragon, but that's because I was losing badly, and I had a chance to hang on if I drew any land that could produce colored mana the turn that it came down. Crucible is a pain to use. I would replace it with something else. Personally, I feel lands like those belong more in an Atraxa deck.

Also, have you thought of Sarkhan Unbroken yet? Even if you can't ultimate him, you still get mana fixing, card draw, and Dragon tokens.

October 2, 2017 9:20 p.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #43

Attack_of_Mogis, Sarkhan is definitely on my list of cards to pick up. Its price spiked after this deck was released. I have a hunch it may drift back down again after the hype wears off. I know that sounds weird considering I just spent a lot on lands but I just think it may come down in price (the lands on the other hand were just going to gradually keep rising)

You're probably right about Crucible. It's been ok but not great. I may swap it for Polluted Delta when I pick one up.

I thought about the Mirage fetches but decided they kinda defeat the purpose of why I invested in fetches: to speed up the deck. I'm trying to reduce the number of tapped lands in the deck.

Really appreciate all the suggestions!

October 2, 2017 11 p.m.

Rabid_Wombat says... #44

Mirage fetches are too slow...that's the reason they go for a buck each.

Sarkhan Unbroken will come down in price...however that ultimate takes way too long to trigger, sure it's awesome but he is like a giant bullseye for everyone round the table as they freak out over 20+ Dragons hitting the battlefield so they either attack him or you until he's gone. I'm running Sarkhan the Mad instead, he's cheaper and if you have two or three dragons he can Ultimate the turn he comes into play which takes out the player who is the biggest threat...he is totally mad bro!

October 3, 2017 1:38 a.m.

You don't even need the ultimate on Sarkhan Unbroken, though. The +1 is card advantage and fixing, and the -2 makes more Dragons. He's relatively good even without the ultimate. Sarkhan the Mad seems good, but you can't get too much out of him.

October 3, 2017 3:53 p.m.

Rabid_Wombat says... #46

Attack_of_Mogis we both know you don't need the ultimate...but everyone else will see us as Archenemy while Sarkhan Unbroken is on the board. If you can get away with saying: "Hey guys, I'm just running Sarkhan Unbroken for mana fixing and card draw....nothing to do with that crazy ultimate!" you are playing a lot more casually than we are....Sarkhan the Mad has won me games on the turn he drops - ending a Mexican stand-off with 50+ damage against another Tribal Dragon player made that guy order Sarkhan el Loco for his The Ur-Dragon deck ;)

Rabid_Wombat says... #47

Back to the deck I notice that Lurking Predators is glaringly absent...so good in multiplayer- have you considered it MegaMatt13?

October 4, 2017 7:17 p.m.

MegaMatt13 says... #48

Attack_of_Mogis and Rabid_Wombat:

I appreciate the discussion surrounding the two Sarkhans. Sounds like 2 different philosophies when evaluating the cards. I usually don't evaluate planeswalkers based on their ultimate abilities (unless they can be used the turn they drop or perhaps one turn later). Planeswalkers are inherently fragile in Commander because opponents can always agree to send creatures at it. Both Sarkhans generate good value at different times.

In terms of Lurking Predators, I really like the card. I had it in my Xenagos deck. My only concern here is that I'm not sure I have enough density in creatures to make it worth it. It costs 6 mana (the same cost in this deck as a 7 mana dragon effectively). I'd be worried about spending 6 and then not hitting anything. Still, I've put it on the maybelist as it is a card a I enjoy :)

October 5, 2017 11:20 a.m.

Revenantmike says... #49

Ill give you my reasoning for Lurking Predators. Yes it costs about the same as a dragon. However most dragons should cost less because of the amount of cost reducers in the deck. Now you cast lp in place of a dragon but for rest of the game you get to play dragons for free if they r top deck. If they get rid of it then good. They wasted a card that couldve been used on your dragons or commander. Plus you should have other cheat in cards. However i do think its less useful in your deck because you are running less dragons than most tribal decks would.

You ought to end Tooth and Nail nothing more fun than tutoring for xenagos and another beater (a personal fave of mine is Dragonlord Atarka).

demonicgrizzly, Tooth and Nail is a great finisher. However it is banned in my playgroup (plus it's a rather expensive card I don't own).

Really appreciate the suggestion :)

Fair enough. Good deck otherwise!

I like your deck a lot and based a lot of cards according to yours in my dragon tribal. What do you think of a Thunderbreak Regent in a similar deck ?

Narrash, thanks for your interest in the deck! I considered Thunderbreak Regent. His casting cost is great. However, his 3 damage isn't really that much of a disincentive for opponents to target your dragons. 3 damage is a tiny price to pay in commander. I much prefer Scalelord Reckoner as opponents are much more reluctant to part with their best permanent.

having said all that, Thunderbreak Regent may still be a decent option based on low casting cost alone. you may find it worth testing :)

i also want to chime in on Thunderbreak Regent - it is really better in multiples, which isn't really possible in commander unless you can copy it.

I'm always running Thunderbreak Regent now since he enabled me to win against a more expensive Tribal Dragon deck...Ojutai, Soul of Winter's abilty triggered ten times - take 30 damage to the face beeyotch!!

Hey MegaMat have you yet read the card The Immortal Sun? Might be worth considering either here, or for one of your various other edh decks I see you have on here.

If not here it is:

, Legendary - Artifact

Players cant activate Loyalty abilities of Planeswalkers.

At the beginning of your draw step, draw an additional card.

Spells you cast cost 1 less to cast.

Creatures you control get +1/+1.
