Welcome to my primer for the Boros partner commanders, Akiri, Line-Slinger and Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder . The single-card discussion section is due for a overhaul to explain the modular packages that are in the deck and what those packages are designed to do. I'm also planning to slowly transition this deck to include a stax package that hinders opponents while leaving my game plan in tact. I think Akiri, Line-Slinger would be a solid finisher for a staxed out deck.

I play in a meta that ranges from relatively casual to just under competitive EDH.

This deck can be a lot of fun in pods from pre-cons to optimized decks.

You want to win via commander damage.

You've accepted the challenge of building a combat focused commander deck.

You love aggro.

You love equipment.

You want to eliminate someone every game.

Boros colours leave little room for mistakes.

You dislike making enemies early.

You prefer lying low on the threat assessment radar.

You passionately hate overpriced equipment cards.

The main win condition of this deck is to load up Akiri, Line-Slinger with equipment to deal lethal combat damage.

The alternative win con is to get Sword of Feast and Famine equipped to any creature with Aggravated Assault in play to kill opponents with infinite combat steps. There are several lines to getting the sword out of the deck. However, only Enlightened Tutor can grab Aggravated Assault so enlightened tutor should be saved for this purpose if possible.

Sword of Feast and Famine can be tutored with Steelshaper's Gift , Open the Armory , Stoneforge Mystic , Stonehewer Giant , or Enlightened Tutor .

Sword of Feast and Famine can also be found via Imperial Recruiter / Recruiter of the Guard into Stoneforge Mystic .

Aggravated Assault can only be tutored via Enlightened Tutor .

You could consider Idyllic Tutor in a more enchantment-heavy build of the deck, but I think the card is far too narrow to consider in my version.

Gamble is a card I may consider in the future.

Armory Automaton : Equip cost reduction. Usually played after Akiri, Line-Slinger has died.

Balan, Wandering Knight : Equip cost reduction. Usually played after Akiri, Line-Slinger has died.

Bastion Protector : Protection. Great with in partner decks.

Grand Abolisher : Great to know you can do things on your own turn.

Imperial Recruiter : Tutors for nearly every creature in the deck. Can be used in tutor lines to get Stoneforge Mystic to get Sword of Feast and Famine .

Leonin Abunas : Protection for equipment against things like Vandalblast and similar effects.

Mother of Runes : Protection and often grants unblockable to Akiri, Line-Slinger .

Puresteel Paladin : Card draw in white and a massive equip cost reduction with 3 or more artifacts in play.

Recruiter of the Guard : See Imperial Recruiter .

Remorseful Cleric : Graveyard hate that can also hold a equipment on an evasive body.

Serra Ascendant : Evasive tutorable beater.

Sram, Senior Edificer : Card draw in white. Not as good as Puresteel Paladin . This deck was actually once a Sram, Senior Edificer deck but it folded to Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite , which this deck does not.

Stoneforge Mystic : Tutors equipments. Cost reduction.

Stonehewer Giant : Tutors equipments. Cost reduction.

Sun Titan : Equipment, creature, and enchantment recursion.

Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle : Recursion for 37/99 cards in the deck.

Basilisk Collar : Lifelink is handy to help us last in longer games and deathtouch makes Akiri, Line-Slinger into a useful blocker.

Blackblade Reforged : An upgraded Strata Scythe makes our commanders large!

Bloodforged Battle-Axe : An snow-balling equipment that gets out of hang fast.

Bonesplitter : A cheap equipment that curves nicely into Akiri.

Darksteel Axe : An indestructible Bonesplitter .

Darksteel Plate : An indestrctible equipment that makes a creature indestructible too!

Flayer Husk : Usually used as a one mana Fog because most people don't want to waste an attack on a 1/1 Germ token.

Hammer of Nazahn : Acts as a second copy of the best card in the deck Sigarda's Aid .

Hero's Blade : Makes legendary creatures large and forgoes equip costs.

Loxodon Warhammer : Trample matters a lot to close out games and lifelink is a bonus.

Mask of Memory : I often tutor for this card in the early game when I've kept a questionable hand.

Prowler's Helm : Evasion!

Sunforger : All of the instants in the deck are tutorable via this card.

Swiftfoot Boots : Hexproof and haste are great.

Sword of Feast and Famine : Very useful on its own. Combos with Aggravated Assault for infinite combat steps.

Sword of Light and Shadow : Recursion and protection from most relevant removal spells in the format.

Sword of Vengeance : Grants trample and haste. Will eventually be replaced by a Sword of X and Y.

Tenza, Godo's Maul : Trample and +3/+3 for only 3 mana and 1 to equip.

Trailblazer's Boots : Usually reads unblockable.

Umezawa's Jitte : One of the best equipment cards in the game. Works great with double-strike.

Boros Signet : On colour ramp.

Expedition Map : Ramp or find a utility land.

Fellwar Stone : Ramp that usually gets one of our colours.

Key to the City : Unblockable for our commanders and card draw.

Mind Stone : Ramp and a cantrip.

Mox Amber : Mana-positive ramp when a legendary creature is on the battlefield.

Sol Ring : Mana-positive ramp.

Welding Jar : Protect one of the many artifacts in the deck for one turn.

Apostle's Blessing : Protection for equipment and creatures.

Boros Charm : Double strike enabler or protection.

Disenchant : Artifact and Enchantment removal.

Dispatch : Removal that's great in artifact decks.

Enlightened Tutor : Usually tutors for Aggravated Assault or whatever equipment or enchantment that might be relevant.

Path to Exile : Creature removal.

Psychotic Fury : Cantripping doublestrike for explosive turns.

Swords to Plowshares : Creature removal.

Teferi's Protection : Protection for a turn. Great against combo players.

Temur Battle Rage : Suprise double strike and trample when no-blockers are declared.

Wear / Tear : Artifact and Enchantment removal.

Cleansing Nova : Flexible mass removal.

Open the Armory : Equipment tutor and can get the only aura in the deck Gryff's Boon for evasion.

Steelshaper's Gift : Equipment tutor for one mana.

Terminus : Mass removal that is usually cheap to cast. Definitely a replaceable card.

Nahiri, the Lithomancer : Equip cost reduction. Emblem is relevant but don't expect it to happen.

I have played a Daretti, Scrap Savant in a previous iteration of the deck but found it was not that valuable since I never really want my artifacts to hit the graveyard in the first place.

Aggravated Assault : Infinite turns with a creature equipped with Sword of Feast and Famine .

Sigarda's Aid : Equip cost reduction. FLASH allows this sorcery speed deck to operate at instant speed.

Ally Encampment : Can bounce Akiri, Line-Slinger to protect her from commander tax or bounce Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder to reuse his ability.

Ancient Den : Artifacts matter, even lands. Also tutorable with Enlightened tutor in a worst case scenario.

Battlefield Forge : Both colours and colourless.

Buried Ruin : Artifact Recursion.

Clifftop Retreat : Untapped boros land.

Darksteel Citadel : Indestructible Ancient Den / Great Furnace .

Flooded Strand : Finds Sacred Foundry or Mistveil Plains .

Great Furnace : See Ancient Den .

Inspiring Vantage : Fast-land of boros colours.

Mistveil Plains : Recurs destroyed equipment to find again later.

Rogue's Passage : Grants unblockable.

Rugged Prairie : Boros filter land.

Sacred Foundry : Fetchable boros dual land.

Secluded Steppe : Cantrip land.

Slayers' Stronghold : Haste enabler.

Spire of Industry : Effectively a dual land in this deck.

Strip Mine : Land destruction that can be tutored by Expedition Map .

Temple of Triumph : Smoothes out draws. Not ideal for opening hands.

Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion : Double strike enabler.

Windswept Heath : Finds Sacred Foundry or Mistveil Plains .

Wooded Foothills : Finds Sacred Foundry .

Some of the cards listed here are obviously superior to some of the cards already in the deck.

The single-card discussion detailed a few cards worth cutting as new cards are acquired.

Potential WAR additions: Heartwarming Redemption, Blast Zone, Feather, the Redeemed, Tomik, distinguished advokist, Dreadhorde Arcanist, Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion.
