Five Card Combo - The Ref is in!

Standard Combo Competitive GU (Simic) Show and Tell Zoo

Sideboard

This is a fun and powerful deck to play - just make sure you have enough room on the table. It's okay to just ignore your opponent while you play a 5-minute turn.

While a lot of cards in this deck will work well on their own, there is a combo system that works real well. It looks like a complicated combo, but parts of the combo will already work well - the complete combo will have your table overflowing with cards.

  • Arbiter of the Ideal can move cards from the library to the battlefield just by untapping. This goes for artifacts (Springleaf Drum, Witches' Eye)
  • Courser of Kruphix will show you what card is next. It will also get your lands out faster so you can cast the big spells faster, and it will also thin out your deck and make recycling more effective
  • Witches' eye will allow you to cycle instants or sorceries that you no longer need. It will also allow the arbiter to tap.
  • Springleaf drum may provide mana in dire siutation by allowing you to tap the Courser or the follower for mana. It also allows for tapping of the Arbiter.
  • The prophet of kruphix will untap your Arbiter and mana required to tap the arbiter each untap phase - you can scry and play creatures and lands in your opponent's turn this way, doubling the power of the arbiter
  • Kiora's follower will allow for even more use of your arbiter(s)

The big creatures will all come into play sooner than later when using the Arbiter to its fullest extent.

Stalling methods for the popular heroic or goblin decks are Kiora, which will negate damage from one creature and the Hornet's nest which will turn into 2 deathtouch tokens when killed. Negate will of course further help you stop the onslaught of weenies while the sideboard is essentially packed to deal with these types of decks. Nissa, Worldwaker, is also a great way of dealing with lots of enemies. While it's risky to convert your land to 4/4 creatures than can be killed, they may provide the last stand and keep you alive long enough until the Arbiter starts pumping out the big ones.

Finally, Jace, the Living Guildpact will allow for even more card cycling and eventually recycling your graveyard into your library, restoring your counters and creatures that got destroyed or otherwise sent to your graveyard.

Enjoy. When the deck fully unfolds, you'll have a good time tapping and untapping the Arbiters while scrying for your big hitters and pumping them out one by one during your opponent's turn, ultimately freeing your molochs from summoning sickness and allowing them to attack!

Updates Add

Major overhaul. I removed the big creatures of the previous version and added more diverse creatures with added abilities that are annoying. I also added two other planeswalkers: Jace, the Living Guildpact for graveyard recycling and card cycling and Nissa, Worldwaker for her ability to convert lands into 4/4 elemental creatures. Always welcome when facing an extreme aggro deck.

I also added some counterspells, added 2 Springleaf Drums instead of Witches' Eyes so I can generate mana with the creatures that have no use other than their abilities, like the Kruphix cards.

I tried this version against some of the tournament winning decks, and it seems to perform well. The constant onslaught of creatures and the added counters seem to balance the deck better and make it a worthy adversary. Please playtest against your own deck.
