Helmed by Captain Kayto Shields, The Sunrider (Ramos) is an Assault Carrier created by the Ceran Space Force (Mishra, later repurposed by Urza), after PACT's attack on Cera resulted in its surrender, The Sunrider continued the fight, becoming the head of a resurgent resistance against it's expansion. Equipped with the finest weapons money can buy and with the Anti-Dreadnought Vanguard Cannon, it is widely considered to be one of the finest ship's in the galaxy.

Using its variety of weapon emplacements, The Sunrider seeks to overwhelm the enemy with sheer firepower (storming off), or, if that doesn't work, use its compliment of Ryders to take out one enemy ship at a time and defend it from counterattacks. Should all else fail, after charging up (casting enough spells) the Vanguard Cannon has historically proven to be far more than enough to take down several ships and is not a weapon to be taken lightly by enemy naval commanders (hitting enough counters on Ramos can be a win condition on it's own).

Ryder Compliment Show

Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder: The Paladin is an anti-capital ship Ryder that is as heavily armed as it is armored. Its heavy kinetic cannons and missile banks should be taken seriously by any opponent, and should be dealt with immediately unless they want their lives to end very quickly.

Yidris is something that is either killed immediately, or wins you the game the very next turn after her comes down. Hell, even if he doesn't he's going to give you so much advantage that you might as well have already won. Giving Ramos four counters immediately means that something like a Mystical Tutor is all you need to turn your next turn into your storm turn.

Deadeye Navigator: The Black Jack is about as subtle as a blow to the head and is armed with virtually every type of weapon you can conceive of without sacrificing too much in the way of speed or armor. It is an excellent multi-role fighter that is never a fish out of water in any sort of fight.

Yeah yeah I know Peregrine Drake combo blah blah blah... Yes that is the biggest purpose Deadeye has, but if I don't have that then I still have the ability to pair him with any of recursion creatures to give myself a veritable unlimited supply of spells and, consequently, counters. On top of that, when Black Jack pairs up with The Sunrider herself, you can flicker Ramos when you've still got spells after removing five counters to serve as a combo extension.

Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  : The Liberty is a support-oriented Ryder dedicated to ECM warfare and is also capable of conducting emergency repairs. Because of this and its shield generator, the Liberty is considered an invaluable resource to The Sunrider.

Another piece of our spell recursion engine as well as a great way to fig us deeper. As they do in Legacy, this deck gets great use out of him due to all our fetch lands allowing us flip him lightning fast.

Chandra, Acolyte of Flame: In the same vein as the Liberty, the Bianca is a support Ryder, however is a different flavor of support compared to her sister Ryder. The prime draw of the Bianca is its arm-mounted gravity gun which allows it to pull enemy Ryders out of formation as well as strip them of their weapons and fusion cores under the right circumstances.

Another key part of our spell-recursion engine, as a good portion of our key spells fall under her requirement as she lets us rack up card advantage, or even flashback a spent wincon such as an Exsanguinate or Comet Storm that happened to wind up in the graveyard.

Maelstrom Wanderer: An ancient piece of barely understood Ryuvian technology, the Seraphim is among The Sunrider's most valuable asset due to its high-powered kinetic rifle that could shoot the wick off a candle from thirty miles away. Due to this, it is the sharpshooter in the Ryder compliment and is best employed to take out high value enemy ECM Ryders or capital ships.

A wincon that I'm sure need no introduction and little explanation. Unless you get absurdly unlucky, just casting him should net you five counters on Ramos that you can spend on further spells and, since he brings two spells with him to add to your storm count.

Kess, Dissident Mage: Though lightly armored to a dangerous degree, the Phoenix is an absurdly quick, fuel-efficient Ryder best deployed as an interceptor to hack enemy Ryders to bits before they can even come in range of The Sunrider's point defense guns. Due to its light armor and otherwise piddly weapons, it is inadvisable to use against capital ships. That said, it is capable of completely massacring Ryder formations single handedly.

To be honest I'm not sure why I didn't put her in here sooner, because she's such a natural fit. Three colors for Ramos, constant recursion to build more counters and recycle burnt or cascaded X-spells, and a decent body to stem some bleeding? Kess is a perfect piece for The Sunrider's arsenal.

Weapon Emplacements Show

Torment of Hailfire: The Sunrider comes equipped with four tri-linked Savior Kinetic Cannons, two mounted on the front and two on the rear. Vicious anti-capital ship weapons, if an enemy ship is caught with its pants down in range of the Saviors, then you can consider it sunk with no chance of recourse.

If this thing goes unanswered, you win. Period. You should be casting this thing with Ramos' counters and, when you do, chances are your opponents are going to wind up with no non-land permanents on board and few, if any cards in hand. Oh, and this deck, you're getting that thing back no questions asked.

Comet Storm: The Sunrider comes equipped with a massive array of heavy ordinance, namely Mirv Quantum Torpedoes backed by several bays of Helldart Missiles. No amount of flack will save your opponent from all this ordinance.

Now I know you're going to hate this, but this card is going to require some maths in order to get the most out of all this damage, namely multiplication. Oh but since you'll already be using storm to win as well, you'redoing plenty of math anyways. That said, play your cards right, and you can squelch two opponents for the price of one.

Exsanguinate: A ship is not complete without some sort of laser weapon, and The Sunrider has multiple Trinity laser batteries on her side and top to snipe targets at range, or switch to pulse fire for enemies caught out of shielding after an ECM attack or interference from the Bianca.

This is, of course, a rather ubiquitous wincon in any black deck, but though we CAN kill everyone with this, perhaps more important is that it can sufficiently dent our opponent's life total, even without killing them, while buying us more time to use a different wincon. Either that, or we can just constantly recycle Exsanguinate and just blast people with it repeatedly.

The Sunrider is rightly just as feared as it is respected. A behemoth of a ship, but also one that is elegant and sleek in design. As it fights against the enemies of Cera, as it faces down the shadowy hands seeking to pull the galaxy's puppet strings, it invites anyone willing to to fight alongside it.
