Introduction:

Hi everyone, this is my personal Mimeoplasm reanimator/combo deck for the 2v2 format. I first started to build it as a Tasigur, the Golden Fang decklist, however after some serious matches in local competition, despite some decent results, i found Tasigur pretty underwhelming and antisinergistic with the deck i was trying to build. After Tasigur i decided to try The Mimeoplasm, and after some months spent behind it i managed to build a deck that fullfilled my requirements for a reanimator deck.

With this deck i also won the 1st place in a multiplayer commander tournament, and this list also proved to be able to win by itself swinging in the first turns.

The deck is built around a simple yet effective synergy: Mill/discard big buddies, reanimate them and in the meantime build a combo or smack an infected Mimeoplasm right in the face of your opponent. Easy right?

The Primer:

Show

Archetype: Midrange/Combo

As a Midrange deck, this Mimeoplasm deck is based on a fairly aggressive gameplan, while having resources for disrupting control decks (Above all Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur and Void Winnower) and mitigate the explosives starts of aggro decks with cards like Massacre Wurm.

As a combo deck, your true gameplan is to end the game as fast as possible with the Necrotic Ooze + Phyrexian Devourer + Walking Ballista combo, by having both Walking Ballista and Phyrexian Devourer in the graveyard and then playing a Necrotic Ooze for damage everyone to death. This combo is quite game-winning in almost every game, because it turns the game for you when combat-oriented strategies doesn't work in determined scenarios.

Why ?

I chose because they offer the best tools for a combo-oriented deck: Mana accelleration, draw/discard power, recursion effects and tutor power. While other combination may excel in some aspects, is a balanced combination overall and one of the most solid performer across all of them.

Why The Mimeoplasm?

As mentioned above, this project was originally a deck designed around Tasigur, the Golden Fang, however for a more reanimator oriented deck, The Mimeoplasm opens up a different perspective on creatures: Every creature in a graveyard is a weapon usable in a lot of different ways, effectively using every graveyard as a pool of tools and utilities.

Damia, Sage of Stone is another great commander for a BUG deck, but she is more control oriented and the reanimator package doesn't work very well like with other commanders out there.

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is probably the second best BUG commander for a reanimator deck. However, it doesn't have any utility and viability better than the one a The Mimeoplasm can offer. She's in the deck anyway as a standard creature because her self-mill power can speed up the deck by a lot, and the Zombie tokens are a decent fillers in the board for disrupting opponents attack.

Vorosh, the Hunter doesn't have any synergy with the combo in this deck and it doesn't offer any utility. Moreover, he needs to attack in order to be truly effective.

Why not counters and/or removal?

This is a personal choice. I've tuned this deck an infinite number of times and i've come to a conclusion: if you want to win fast and you want to be able to do in almost every game, you need to thin your deck from what you don't necessarily need. That's why i decided to build this deck involving only cards useful for my gameplan, rather than play passively. In my experience this kind of deck needs to play on curve and every turn. With a more combo/reanimator oriented deck you have more probability to draw cards useful in that determined situation, and you are safer to dredge what you really need to put into your graveyard.

As of V 1.5 the only counter in the deck is Glen Elendra Archmage since it synergizes very well with the deck sine it's a creature card and it helps in the mid/late game to cover yourself from spot removals, aoe or counters.

Strenghts of the deck:

The deck is thin with almost no situational card; every card is useful by itself and works synergistically with the others. The deck is capable of winning consistently on turn 3/4 with a standard hand and can easily take the edge on attrition matches with enormous tempo swings especially in th furst few turns: cards like Flash on a Woodfall Primus in the first few turns will win the match for you. Overall the deck is capable of explosive opening turns that quickly accelerate it beyond the reach of all but the most tenacious control, while thanks to big creatures with powerful effects the deck can still fight for the win in the later stage of the game.

Weaknesses of the deck:

Like every other grave-oriented decks, this deck suffers a lot grave manipulation: Bojuka Bog,Rest in Peace, Leyline of the Void are game ending if they resolves in the right moment of the match.

Lands Manipulation Cards like Back to Basics, Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon are also threats because of the way the deck's land base was designed. If these cards resolve, you better start another match.

You will enjoy this deck if:

-You prefer playing active turns instead of passive turns: this deck mainly plays his own game and the opponent will be the one who will try to chase you.

-You love combo deck: if like me you love combo decks, this deck is the best choice!

-"Why would i pay 8 mana for a Woodfall Primus?": Cheating death is the most natural thing for this deck; if you love big bad bosses in the table in the first few turns of the match, this is the deck for you.

You will hate this deck if:

-You prefer a passive gameplay: Most of the times this deck doesn't need to wait for the opponent to play his own game, if you prefer disrupting opponent plans with counters this may not be the best deck for you.

-You like different game experiences every time: Since it's a combo deck, you'll end up winning (I hope!) in the same 2/3 ways every game. If you prefer a more various gameplay, this may not be the deck for you.

-You don't like to receive hate from the table: As most of combo decks, this deck will get A LOT of attention from every other player, so every move needs to be really pondered.

General Strategy

This deck was built for high consistency and high proactivity. It is played efficiently using a three-stage approach:

Early game - Cycle, build up graveyard, set up draw or mill engines,

Mid game - Reanimation, build up combo,

Late game - Board control, execute combo.

These stages are discussed at length in the sections below.

Stage I - The Early Game

Main Goals

• Start to cycle through your deck;
• Set up draw/mill engines;
• Extabilish a resourceful graveyard.

The main objective of the Early Game, as a combo deck and midrange deck, is to search for your best tools and try to gather a resourceful graveyard ready to be used from reanimation spells or effects.

In this stage of the game, if you start tutoring, the best general targets are:

• Survival of the Fittest or Fauna Shaman depending from the tutor you're using;

• Reanimate or any other reanimation spell if you have the option to bring back big creatures;

• Buried Alive if you plan to combo-out soon;

• Dark Confidant or Grim Flayer for better/additional card draw if you are searching for a creature that will lead your deck for some turns.

• If you have at least Flash or Woodfall Primus it may be a good idea to search for the other piece for a turn two or three swing. Highly reccomended.

Stage II - The Mid Game

• Start putting down some big creatures from the graveyard, controlling the table;
• Gather Combo pieces/build up a The Mimeoplasm.

Getting straight into turn four or five you need to put some pressure into the battlefield. Since the deck is built around this mechanic, it should be fairly easy to soft-locking your opponent with land destruction or resurrect big guys to contest the board. One of the best reanimation target is Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur to at least ensure you an insane amount of card draw for at least one to two turns. The second best choice is generically Void Winnower to lock some of the opponents' resources.

While controlling the board with big creatures, you should start dredging or sending to the graveyard some of the combo pieces, in order to let your win condition covered from counters, forcing your opponent to TAP everything to contesting some big creatures.

Stage III - The Late Game

Main Goals

• Combo-off;
• Keep your opponents away from outlasting you and controlling every move you could make.

The main objective of the third phase is, of course, winning.

You need to pay a lot of attention to the Late Game setup: since this deck doesn't run any counter the only possible countermove might be Living Death; however you should never rely on this spell to win the game.

Try to disrupt opponents' combo by forcing them to play folllowing your rhytm, and try to find the best moment to combo-out or to play the winning The Mimeoplasm. Remember to not be afraid to cast your commander just for some board control with powerful effects! Just be careful that everything you use as effect or stats will be exiled and impossible to play again.

Mulligan

This deck is typically played in games that use a full mulligan with a free first mulligan.

The first and foremost rule when taking mulligans with this deck is that you must take aggressive mulligans. If a card is dead in the first two turns of the game, you probably don't want it in your opening hand if it isn't a key card such as Buried Alive. One CMC and two CMC creatures are often key cards to search for, as well as tutors and two CMC enchantments such as Sylvan Library or Survival of the Fittest.

Generally speaking, you want to see three or four lands in your opening hand. This gives you security for the first few turns since this deck virtually need four or five lands to run smoothly. Ideally, you'll start with fetches for a quick mana fix.

Card choices explained

Lands

- While not having any dual lands, the deck easily gets every color in the first few turn of the game thanks to the fetch package, shocklands and utility lands. This setup guarantees that the deck will have access to the proper colors at the proper times.

• Ancient Tomb

Staple land in EDH. It can tap for mana at any time, and the investment of life is a low price for the extra mana production. The only real downside is that this land won't allow you to play long term matches if you are forced to rely on it; it will kill you rather quickly.

• Blooming Marsh

This is the only fastland included in the decklist mostly because and are the first color you want to see in the early game.

• Cavern of Souls

Obviously core card of EDH in general. This land synergizes extremely well in this deck, since both The Mimeoplasm and Necrotic Ooze, which are the main wincondition of the deck, shares the same type. The only weak spot of the Necrotic Ooze are counters, so you can literally combo off without any problem. It's decent to keep safe Acidic Slime from counters too. This land is too good to not use it.

• Cephalid Coliseum

This card makes the cut because it taps for and comes with a decent utility ability. Since the deck rely a lot onto the graveyard, is really easy to activate the treshold effect in the early/mid stage of the game, ensuring a lifesaving draw/discard tool if your hand is saturated with too many slow creatures.

• City of Brass, Mana Confluence

One of the best lands out there. You can freely tap for any mana you want at any time by just taking one damage. Plus, Reflecting Pool takes the most benefits from them acting as a second City of Brass or Mana Confluence without taking any damage.

• Command Tower

Staple in EDH, Command Tower is a simply must-have in every EDH deck.

• Drowned Catacomb, Hinterland Harbor, Woodland Cemetery

These cards should almost always enter the battlefield untapped thanks to basic and shocklands; They guarantee dual color production with almost no real downside.

• Sunken Ruins and Twilight Mire

Filters land can help you to fix a bad land starting. They're not really useful by themselves since they only provide , but in most of the cases you are able to make them as the exactly land you need.

• Llanowar Wastes, Underground River, Yavimaya Coast

Painlands are handy and they can tap for dual mana at any time for a really low life price. With 40 or 30 life points you can speed up mana production without caring too much of 1 point of damage.

• Reflecting Pool

This card may act as a second Command Tower. He can help Sunken Ruins and Twilight Mire to work faster and by themselves. In worst cases it's a basic land, however most of the times you're able to make it a Command Tower by turn two or three.

• Strip Mine

This card has the benefit of both producing mana and serving as low-investment solutions to opponents' utility lands. Moreover, with every recursion spell/creature in this deck, you will be able to destroy almost one or two lands each turn.

Ramp Mechanics

The deck only plays mana ramp in form creatures: They are faster than a sorcery and they have better synergy with creature-based cards like Survival of the Fittest.

• Azusa, Lost but Seeking

One of my favourite creature ramp. Azusa, Lost but Seeking allows you to ramp out three lands every turn. The best combination for using her is by having Ramunap Excavator with fetchlands or Strip Mine into the graveyard for three lands every turn or for destroying three lands of your opponents. Another great way to abuse her power is by using every turn Life from the Loam, dredging and taking lands from the graveyard to the battlefield.

• Birds of Paradise

Incredible Mana Dork, every color you need only for . Must have in almost every deck using .

• Deathrite Shaman

Just as Birds of Paradise, this little elf can let you produce every color you need if you exile a land from a graveyard. The best way to use her is by exiling lands from the opponent's graveyard, however it may be worth to exile yours too. Moreover, her ability to exile any other card will hel you to disrupt any recursion or combo from a graveyard.

• Elves of Deep Shadow

Mana Dork producing another color other than her . Starting with a // land and playing her on turn one let you fix every color in your deck in the first stage of the game.

• Elvish Mystic

Cheap mana ramp, you'll never regret playing him on turn one.

• Ramunap Excavator

Key card in a graveyard-based deck; if you can play her on the early stage after you've dredged some cards, you'll always find value by playing her. Strip Mine is the key card with Ramunap Excavator and act as a solid Soft-Lock for your opponent.

• Sakura-Tribe Elder

Fill the graveyard while fetching basic land, making better draws? I'll take it!

Draw Engines

Creatures

• Dark Confidant

Solid 2 CMC who gives you an additional card every turn. The deck is saturated with high-cost creatures, however with Sylvan Library or Grim Flayer you are able to manage what card will you draw first, avoid taking too much damage. High risk High reward, they say, and it's definitely worth the risk.

• Sphinx of Lost Truths

Unusual 5 drop from the ideas of my fellow AleCarbo98. You don't need to kick this creature, the draw/discard mechanic is insane if this deck. Have a big bad creature in hand? Cast this creature and let your graveyard benefit from your old clunky hand!

Enchantments

• Sylvan Library

One of the best draw manipulation/engine of the deck. It let you search what you want among three cards, it synergizes very well with Dark Confidant. Another great synergy is with dredge buddies: if you look at some great cards, you can take the good cards in hand, and then take four/eight damage and dredge the second draw of the Sylvan Library. One of the most important cards in the deck by far.

Sorceries

• Careful Study

This is the one and only 1 mana draw sorcery of the deck, however it gives the advantage of a 3 cmc draw spell for this deck: if you have a reanimator spell and this card in hand you almost instantly won: t1 Careful Study discarding some big guys, followed by a reanimator spell seals the game for you in most of the cases. The only downside is the sorcery-speed of the spell.

• Forbidden Alchemy

Really good draw engine, lets you virtually draw four cards and putting three of them into the graveyard at istant speed. Really good card if followed by a reanimator spell.

• Frantic Search

One of my favourite card of the entire deck. A lot of times this card means reanimation, the untap is an HUGE advantage and lets you play a virtual six-mana turn on the third turn. Incredible card, i just love it.

• Grisly Salvage

Need some lands? Small creatures? This card is insane, 5 cards are a great amount to look at and putting some bad boys into the graveyard while taking good stuff is one of the best turn 2 you can expect. The only downside is the lack of taking sorceries and istant; often you will need to say goodbye (just for now, of course) to some tutors or reanimation spell.

• Fauna Shaman

Survival of the Fittest with a pair of legs. She's too good to not play her, since she helps you to discard clunky creatures for faster and stronger creatures for that situation, The only downside is her TAP effect which makes her fairly slow. She's anyway a must have in order to combo out faster and bring onto the battlefield big creatures.

• Survival of the Fittest

Key card of the deck. You start with a creature and this in your hand? You can even think to keep the hand just for this card. His instant-speed ability is just broken in a deck like this one, it's able to make the deck work just by itself.

• Birthing Pod

The deck is also built around this powerful artifact: every CMC (only the "fastest" ones) has at least two different creatures in order to not get stuck with the Birthing Pod effect every turn. He's also a great way to search for combo pieces and gather them to the graveyard one by one.

• Buried Alive

This card is simply a must-have. It just curves out with Necrotic Ooze and it's one of the easiest way to gather combo pieces or to prepare a big bad The Mimeoplasm.

• Demonic Tutor

One of the strongest tutor out there. You take what you want from your deck and you put directly into your hand. Isn't it enough?

• Entomb

A little, yet deadly, Buried Alive. If you chain it to one of the many reanimator spells used in this deck you can pick up every creature you want from your deck and put it in play.

• Mystical Tutor

With that many reanimator spells and recursive effects it's crazy to not run Mystical Tutor. Every instant or sorcery you want ready for you to draw.

• Vampiric Tutor

Mystical Tutor, Worldly Tutor and Enlightened Tutor in one card. Just crazy! Who cares about two life when you can draw what will let you win?

• Worldly Tutor

You need a Dark Confidant for your next turn? Just search it.

Dredge/Mill Engines

Creatures

• Golgari Grave-Troll

The biggest dredge engine of Magic. While he can come in play fairly big in certain spots, the biggest downside is his mana cost. A slow card overall but definitely worth playing it.

• Golgari Thug

While having a less powerful dredge power than Golgari Grave-Troll, he only cost making him a better card in hand. Moreover, his little recursion effect will help you to recover precious creatures like Eternal Witness or Grim Flayer.

• Grim Flayer

This guy is a simple powerhouse. He puts a lot of pressure on board, his delirium effect is really easy to obtain and after that he hits like a truck! You can literally put in your graveyard exactly what you need and draw what you need. It synergizes very well with Dark Confidant in order to set up the draw.

• Hedron Crab

One of the "funniest" card in the deck. If you are in a good spot and you don't need anything in particular rather than some graveyard consistency, you can use fetches to mill yourself (or maybe the opponent you don't really stand...your call!) for six cards, which is a lot.

• Sidisi, Brood Tyrant

Even if she's not the best option as a commander, this creature still remains a decent fit for the deck. Her ETB effect is really good, and everytime she attacks your graveyard grows. Tokens are not as crucial as in other decks, but they can put a decent consistency in board.

• Stinkweed Imp

Not only he has a really good dredge engine, but he's a flying blocker with deathtouch. A really good defender against commanders like Brago, King Eternal or Kraum, Ludevic's Opus too.

• Mesmeric Orb

One of the most useful artifacts for this kind of deck; not only he helps you to set up reanimation target, but he mostly helps to disrupt opponent's topdeck and strategies: You will feel so good when your opponent will mill himself his win conditon or a crucial card!

Sorceries

• Life from the Loam

While this card doesn't have the same dredge power as Golgari Grave-Troll he's by far the strongest dredge card in the deck. You have potentially infinite fetches but most importantly, you are able to use Strip Mine every turn, soft-locking your opponent. If you manage to keep using Life from the Loam with Azusa, Lost but Seeking on the battlefield you can make an enormous advantage of resources while filling your graveyard.

Reanimation Package

Creatures

• Phyrexian Delver

Even if he is mana expensive, Phyrexian Delver makes the cut into the decklist thanks to the creature tutors in this deck: Survival of the Fittest, Fauna Shaman, Worldly Tutor, Birthing Pod search only for creatures: fitting even just one reanimator creature increases the chances to succesfuly reanimate some big guy.

• Sheoldred, Whispering One

Despite most of the times you'll take her back from the graveyard and you won't cast her paying mana, she keeps reanimate other guys from the graveyard. Moreover, the opponents still need to sacrifice one creature per turn if he doesn't take care of her.

• Animate Dead

One of the most popular reanimator spell. Cheap, versatile and strong. Moreover, if you have the opportunity, you can just cast it onto an opponent creature card in his graveyard.

• Dance of the Dead

Just as Animate Dead, the cheap cost of this card is enough to play it. The only difference between this card and Animate Dead is that it enchant a creature letting him TAPped if you don't pay a tax everytime you want to untap it. Sometimes it just doesn't matter, however sometimes it may be a bit of a problem if you're under pressure and you need a big guy to take some damage.

• Necromancy

Reanimation enchantments are never enough, right? One of the most important aspects of this card is that it can be casted at istant speed, sacrificing the creature at the end of the turn. However, using necromancy as an istant onto a Woodfall Primus, for example, lets you destroy two permanents leaving a 5/5 with trample onto the board.

Sorceries

• Exhume

2 CMC reanimation is always good. The only downside of this card is that it lets your opponent take a creature too; most of the time you won't even care about it. It's really difficult that your opponent has something bigger than your Void Winnower into the graveyard!

• Life/Death

This card is not as cheap and convenient as the other cards mentioned above, but since you will dredge cards a lot of turns, having a backup spell is never a bad idea.

• Reanimate

The reanimation card for excellence; one mana justify the damage you take, and it's definitely worth it. There will never be a situation where you regret taking damage for a Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur.

• Stitch Together

Another backup plan; Treshold is never a problem in this deck and you almost always be able to take back a creature for only .

• Victimize

One of the strongest sorceries in the reanimation package; by sacrificing a little elf you will be able to bring back two creatures from the graveyard. Most of the times this is a game-winning spell.

Reanimation Targets

• Acidic Slime

This creature may not have the best body among the others, but his effect is just too good. Solid five mana creature wich block your opponent from attacking with big creatures too.

• Hornet Queen

Despite having orrible stats for a seven mana drop, this card gives you a hand to contest the board and defend yourself with five deathtouch creatures. Really good against both control and aggro matchups.

• Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur

Here comes the control smasher! This big bad beast is the nightmare of control decks. You get a disgusting advantage from her reanimation with seven additional cards every turn. Even if you prefer discarding or milling yourself in some situations, drawing every turn this creature stays on the battlefield grants you the win. If your opponent doesn't take care of her in the first few turns from her reanimation, you just outlast him with an incredible amount of resources.

• Massacre Wurm

One of the few board control effect in the deck. If you bring him back (or play, that's not so difficult) in the right moment you can seal the match and aim for the win. The additional damages you can make with his effect can potentially inflict a serious trashing to the enemy total life.

• Noxious Gearhulk

The only creature removal of the deck. Other than destroying opponent's creature, he will help you to gain back some life, since you'll often lose some life just by yourself with cards like Reanimate.

• Void Winnower

The brother of Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, this Eldrazi is one of the most annoying creature you will ever play. His direct counter is Toxic Deluge, however it takes nine lifes to bring it down with that, and you can always bring him back whenever you want! You can counter a lot of commanders such as Atraxa, Praetors' Voice and cards like Damnation or Supreme Verdict won't bother you if you have this little guy watching over you.

• Woodfall Primus

An improved version of Acidic Slime; bigger and stronger. Flash + Woodfall Primus when your opponent struggles with lands is the final blow. You can freely sac him with Victimize without losing him, reanimate him with Necromancy at istant speed and leaving him on the battlefield, and if it's not enough, he his almost immune to aoe spells and board wipes.

• Wurmcoil Engine

Just as Woodfall Primus, Wurmcoil Engine can resist to aoe spells and board wipes, leaving behind two tokens with powerful abilities. Moreover, his deathtouch and lifelink helps you to receive some life sustain and guard against non-flying creatures.

Cheap spell to use to take back countered resources or cards you dredged.

• Nostalgic Dreams

This card fuses together Regrowth and any discard spell like Careful Study. This card both takes back resources and discards big creatures, and works as a charm. The only downside is that if this spell gets countered you lose anyway the cards you want to discard.

• Death's Shadow

While this card is pretty useless in EDH in general by itself, it's really versatile and deadly with The Mimeoplasm. Thanks to it's cost you can easily discard him on the first turn in preparation of a big The Mimeoplasm with infect to take down one of your opponents.

• Emrakul, the Promised End

One of the finishers of the deck. You will almost cast it for 8/9 mana wich is great in order to disrupt enemy combos by taking his turn. While he doesn't really synergizes very well with reanimation effects(cast is not played from the graveyard or from the deck, sadly), it's also useful as a stat target for The Mimeoplasm. Since the card says "cast", he's also a great because its effect cannot be countered.

• Lord of Extinction

Same as Death's Shadow this card is mainly played as a stat target for The Mimeoplasm, however his fairly low CMC makes him decent as a creature played thanks to your fairly big graveyard.

• Putrefax

The festival of face damage! This card can result useful by itself too if you can directly hit someone with it and you can reanimate him back next turn. Seems rather strange or hard to accomplish but i won a lot of games thanks to this ugly boy. Of course, his main role is by giving infect, trample and haste to The Mimeoplasm with the stats of some creatures like Death's Shadow, Lord of Extinction or Emrakul, the Promised End.

• Sylvan Safekeeper

One of the most annoying creatures in the deck. His ability makes him really effective in order to protect a giant The Mimeoplasm or a big and useful creature like Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur. His ability can be continously casted every turn, at least if you have lands in play.

Artifacts

• Lightning Greaves

This card makes the cut thanks to its versatility: The most obvious use is for giving a giant The Mimeoplasm haste and hexproof (for example, if you made a mimeoplasm with Death's Shadow and another random guy for the effect), however, since we're playing a lot of big creatures with powerful effects like Sheoldred, Whispering One or Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur it's worth to keep them safe from spot removals or exile spells like Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares.

Enchantments

• Defense of the Heart

Even if this card is fairly slow, it can act as a win condition by just choosing whatever you want from your deck and putting them onto the battlefield. Obviously this card is extraordinary against aggro or midrange decks, while it can be a dead draw against control decks focused more in spells rather than creatures. If your meta is more control-oriented you can swap it for Oath of Druids which is faster to activate but more randomized. It's your call!

Sorceries

• Living Death

Obvious card in a similar deck. It's the only board wipe in the deck but it has two mainly reasons why it's here:

• Everyone need to sacrifice, overtaking every indestructible effect;

• With all the big creatures in the deck, you will almost everytime overtake your opponent with at least two or three big creature. Definitely worth it.

Instants

• Flash

This card is in the deck mainly thanks to Acidic Slime and Woodfall Primus because it both destroy permanent [or two if you play it onto Woodfall Primus) and fills your graveyard with useful creatures. Other than that, it's a cheap way to get rid of creatures in hand, activate ETB effects such as Eternal Witness or combo-off with Necrotic Ooze with less mana.

Win Conditions

Ooze Combo

Necrotic Ooze + Phyrexian Devourer + Walking Ballista is your primary and fastest way to win. With every tutors and discard spells in the deck you have plenty of different way to manage to combo-off.

The combo is around, of course, Necrotic Ooze; Since it takes every activation ability of every creature card in the graveyard, you can exile the first card of your library as if it where Phyrexian Devourer and then remove every +1/+1 counter from it to ping someone as Walking Ballista does. Do it as long as every opponent is pinged to death. The great force of this combo is his instant-speed trigger: you only suffer from counters since you can stack the ooze ability many times you want to bypass every removal. Even if you get countered when you play the Necrotic Ooze you can always take him back with reanimation effects or you can also exile it for The Mimeoplasm and make your commander act as a second Ooze.

Infect damage/Commander Damage

While not being a proper combo, this deck evolves around The Mimeoplasm and candidates him as a backup plan. The easiest and fastest way to win with him is by exiling Putrefax and a creature with at least 10 power such as Death's Shadow: in this way you deal ten or more infect damage (if there is some blocking creatures) in one turn with haste and trample. Easy and clear. If you cannot exile Putrefax you can always rely onto commander damage in one turn (a big Lord of Extinction) or in two turn with 10+ attack targets such as Void Winnower. There are a lot of different solutions and combinations, and remember that you can always use the opponent's creature as part of The Mimeoplasm!

While being a powerful deck as it is right now, every deck needs to improve everyday, experimenting new cards and strategies.

V 1.5

Sidisi, Brood Tyrant ---> Glen Elendra Archmage

Same cmc, different effects. While the first one helps to fill the graveyard and occasionally make tokens, Glen Elendra Archmage helps the deck A LOT by defending every threat you can bring onto the board, giving at least some cover to exile spells like Swords to Plowshares.

Defense of the Heart --> Intuition

While the spot of Defense of the Heart being contended with Oath of Druids, Intuition makes the cut thanks to its versatility for both filling the graveyard and card advantage. A good Intuition can easily seals the game for you.

Triskelion --> Walking Ballista

Seems irrilevant, but this changes makes the deck work faster. Despite losing a 6 cmc drop for Birthing Pod, Walking Ballista is faster to cast (and you can also discard it at 0 mana!). Definitely a fine tuneup.

Sunken Ruins --> Wasteland

Just a matter of time. While providing only colorless mana, Wasteland is nearly as good as Strip Mine providing the same effect: disrupting enemy mana base! The more land destruction the better!
