Sideboard

Maybeboard

My original Selesnya goodstuff deck! The plan is to drop undercosted fatties and pump them up with the best enchantments G/W has to offer. My focus on this deck is to make the creatures as tough as possible to remove while keeping up the pressure. The most common Modern card for creature control seems to be Lighning Bolt, so my creatures try to either get indestructable or have 4+ toughness in order to be harder to remove. Shield of the Oversoul is the best enchantment to put on a G/W creature, which is why almost all of my attackers MD are both colors. Wilt-Leaf Liege is better than any other anthem that I can think of in this deck, and if it's not dealt with quickly it will win the game in the next 2 turns guaranteed.

In the current modern meta, I've found that this deck has really good game against Splinter Twin decks (8 MD cards to stop the combo), Zoo decks, and most types of control decks (both black and UWR). It plays the aggressor against Pod decks, but if Melira Pod is able to slow you down, they will eventually outgrind you with Gavony activations if you don't see a ghost qurater in time. Tron can be tough if you have a slow start (again, Ghost Quarter is key here) so try to start with a good, fast hand before Karn hits the table. Merfolk is 50/50 game 1 but very beatable after sideboarding. Infect has been giving me problems lately, so I've been trying to shore up that matchup, which feels like it's decided by who goes first. Affinity is normally a loss game 1, but SB games get better.

If you'd like to know how this deck matches up against other common modern decks, ask and I'll add a blurb in the description as well as answer specific questions that you may have. Thanks for looking!

Due to the recent pro tour, a deck like this is now on everyone's radar. The only difference is that the pro tour decks splashed black for Siege Rhino and a few Thoughtseize. The real question is if Siege Rhino is worth the splash in the long run? Becaue of the recent bannings, I'm not sure if the Rhino is there due to leftover standard hype and the anticipated pro tour meta that was heavy with burn, or if it really is the real deal. So, should I buy a playset of Rhinos and go Junk? or leave it how it is and perhaps add another few beaters?
