A work in progress "budget" deck for the upcoming The Locust God.

If you enjoy the idea of drawing your entire deck and winning through Laboratory Maniac, then this might be the deck for you. Thanks to The Locust God we have the fun combo of Ashnod's Altar and Skullclamp to draw out our entire deck in one turn and win the game. In order to help us achieve this win, we run cards such as Trinket Mage and Trophy Mage to tutor them out. If by any chance you don't want this to be your main win condition, or your Laboratory Maniac was exiled, then this deck has some other win conditions.

Since The Locust God makes 1/1 blue and red insect tokens with haste when you draw, you can use cards such as Whirlpool Warrior , and Arjun, the Shifting Flame to draw 7-20 cards in a turn. If you combine this with Purphoros, God of the Forge, then all your opponent's die that turn. If you don't have Purphoros, God of the Forge out, then you could always swing at an enemy for 20 damage with the tokens. Add in Windreader Sphinx, and you draw 20 cards when they attack. To add Insult / Injury you can also have Deepfathom Skulker to draw another 20 cards if the opponent is unable to block. As just some added security when attacking Archetype of Imagination makes sure that your opponents won't be able to block.

Since this deck is heavily draw reliant, we are also running cards like Psychosis Crawler and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind to slowly ping our opponent's life totals down to 0. To appear less threatening to the other players we are running some group hug cards such as Temple Bell , Howling Mine, and Kami of the Crescent Moon to allow everyone including ourselves to draw.

Since we sadly don't have as much money available to us as we want, we can't run Kozilek, Butcher of Truth yet, but instead we're running Perpetual Timepiece, and Paradigm Shift to make sure we don't deck our selves and to bring many of our options available to us back in our library. Another interesting card which ended up being a surprisingly great addition to this deck was Library of Leng, removing the downsides of cards like Fateful Showdown by allowing us to return the discarded cards to the top of our library. Library of Leng helps immensely with our graveyard and deck control, making sure that our important cards don't get exiled by graveyard hate such as Relic of Progenitus when we "discard" them.

In the end we thought that we made a pretty neat deck, however we are still looking for suggestions. If you enjoyed this deck, feel free to leave and upvote.

Updates Add

I've swapped a number of the basic lands for dual lands with interesting effects, as well as the older cycle lands for extra card draw in a pinch
