Okay, let's get serious:
Jester's Scepter
could be really broken. It exiles the top five cards of the library when it enters play -- that's 1/12th of a deck.
I've done a deck like this before -- Reflective Mockery -- But it wasn't exactly well made. I'm looking to change that.
If Lanterns can be a thing, so can
Jester's Scepter
Let's have a look at the choices:
Mishra's Bauble -- A cost artifact that draws a card and lets you see what's coming. Simple.
Jester's Scepter
-- Here's the deal; Keep bouncing it and exiling cards, it's that simple.
Fabricate -- Artifact Tutor.
Serum Visions -- DRAW! Plus Scry!
Thirst for Knowledge -- MORE DRAW!!
Stoic Rebuttal -- The counter package. I'm torn between this and Remand or something like Mana Leak or
Rune Snag
, but since it has metalcraft it makes more sense.
Ensoul Artifact -- Because sometimes we need a 5/5
Darksteel Citadel
or Ornithopter, hell, go nuts -- 5/5
Jester's Scepter
!
Master Transmuter -- The Bouncer. Switch your low cost artifacts with
Jester's Scepter
or Scepters with Scepters. But it's slow, I know, on top of being VERY fragile...
Vedalken Engineer -- to spend on Artifacts spells and abilities? Yes please. It is, however, on a creature.
Etherium Sculptor -- Cheaper toys. Again, it's on a creature so it's fragile.
Ornithopter -- The Quintessential artifact creature. A costed flying body to switch with Scepter.
Academy Ruins -- Get back the 'facts! I'm torn between this and Buried Ruin which gets them back to the hand rather than topdecking it, or I could always use both!
Darksteel Citadel
-- Indestructible land. Nuff said.
Right now, the issue is keeping the deck together so it can go off:
I'm heavily reliant on Master Transmuter to make the combo. IS THERE A WAY OF DOING THE COMBO WITHOUT IT?
Same with the other creatures; Vedalken Engineer and Etherium Sculptor -- they're Fragile as all hell. CAN WE WORK THE COMBO WITHOUT THEM?
More control/counterspells? If the other creatures are gone, this is simple, just add more.
I'd love to get a playset of Sculpting Steel in there for double the Scepters, or something like Phyrexian Metamorph or at a stretch Clever Impersonator -- But too many would take away slots from counterspells.
In the maybeboard are other cards I've considered for the deck.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to turn this rattletrap into something reasonably competitive.
Let me know if you have any suggestions in the comments below, and toss me a +1 if you like the idea!
