Darien, the last king of Kjeldor. He fights back pound-for-pound against all who oppose him. All damage taken turns into soldier tokens, which lends to a variety of opportunities. The goal of the deck is to outlast your opponents while building up a small militia of token, which are then buffed up. Below is a breakdown of the cards and interactions. These classes are also available in full upon selecting "Custom categories."

Each care here allows me to gain life from the solider tokens that are put onto the battlefield whenever I take damage, making me virtually immortal. With any of these cards out, I am unkillable through damage, unless a huge amount of damage is dealt to me at the same time.
Once I have some life gain cards out, people won't attack me. But I still need tokens, so I hurt myself. These cards deal damage to my, some of them are small amounts, such as Ankh of Mishra, others can deal crazy amounts, like Cold Snap. Building up my militia can be most easily done though these cards.
Taking out Darien, King of Kjeldor is the easiest way to destroy my strategy. As such, I'll need some cards to save him from an early death. Indestructibility or hexproof keeps him around and secures my immortality.
These are my win condidtions. From damamge-based wins such as Devout Invocation and Luminarch Ascension, to forcing my opponents to concede with Smokestack, to going the buff route of Cathars' Crusade/Archangel of Thune.
Basic cards that go in every deck. Tutors that fetch each piece of my combo.

Game Plan

The deck is quite simple. Since Darien creates soldiers, we need to gain life equal to the number of soldiers. All of the "Gain" cards help with that. X Damage -> X Soldiers -> X Life. After putting out Darien with one of these cards, we need to protect him long enough to get out more soldiers. "Protection" giving him resilience so that we have more time to hurt ourselves (since no one will be attacking us). Hurting ourselves may take time if we only have an Ankh of Mishra or Cursed Totem, so protection is important. After we have our army, we pump them up using a variety of cards, such as anthems (Cathars' Crusade) or angels (Devout Invocation). This deck likes a longer game, and so I've included many ramp cards to help us pay for Darien over and over again, as well as some more expensive spells a bit earlier in the game.
