FNM 2-2 —June 14, 2015

So this week, very few adjustments.

Breakdown

Round 1: Sultai Reanimator Midrange (2-1)

Note to move to more swamp.

Round 2: Esper Control (2-0)

Won both games relatively quick.

Round 3: B/W Warriors (1-2)

Extremely fun match-up as we're the only two players in FNM sporting competitive warrior decks. Noticed a few things that I might have to copy, although his deck is a bit slower than mine, it was the 3 colors that really screwed me on the match-ups as I was short a swamp for a while, and the painlands did not help.

  • Game 1: Resolved a Zurgo Helmsmasher and took the game relatively quick. I did notice he was swamp short for about 2 turns.
  • Game 2: Mana short in general :(
  • Game 3: Short on black mana :( (Had one swamp almost entire game)

All in all, we play almost the exact cards, minus him playing a few more one drops and some Valorous Stance, and me having Alesha, Athreos and Fanatics. Looking forward to a rematch.

Round 4: Abzan Reanimator (0-2)

  • Game 1: Didn't play enough threats and he main-boarded lots of removal. He resolved a Siege Rhino and did enough damage to take it down.
  • Game 2: Short on swamp....Starting to see a pattern here...lol.

Also failed to sideboard correctly on game two. Should have added some more removal and brought in Kolaghan's Command to possibly bolt kill a rhino and bring back a creature.

Changes to deck posted:

So now the SB consists mainly of more removal, or more anti-removal. Let's see how this week of casual goes.

Casual Update #1:

  • Removed 1x Blood-Chin Fanatic and 2x Athreos, God of Passage for 3x Blood-Chin Rager. While this card didn't do anything against me on the other warrior deck, it should be faster and more consistent than Athreos, can also be brought back with Alesha if he dies, and gives opponents another early target to waste spells on. It also fixes my mana curve, so there's that.

phDaemon says... #1

After a week of tons of casual play against burn, sligh, and sultai midrange I am ready to try this deck against Esper Control once more.

Let's see how this goes tonight. Will post updates.
