Still looking for advice for adds or replacements! —Aug. 17, 2019

Check the description for the most recent updates. I am always looking for recommendations for decent thematic cards to add.

This is an interesting build.

I would add more multi-colored creatures and/or more angels, 16 creatures just doesn't feel right in a Naya deck. Probably cut down on the instant and sorcery spells and add in cards like Lyra Dawnbringer and Avacyn, the Purifier and Sigarda, Host of Herons and Basandra, Battle Seraph .

Since you're using green to ramp, I would also replace some of your mana rocks with land ramp spells like Cultivate and Rampant Growth . Artifacts get destroyed all the time to Vandalblast and similar effects, but lands tend to be much safer (unless your meta is really mean lol).

You might also consider more card draw. I only counted 3 cards that allow you to draw more cards, none of which were recurrable or particularly potent. I think your deck will be much more powerful if you add more draw effects. Most commander decks are okay with about 10 such cards. For this deck I would recommend Hunter's Insight and Rishkar's Expertise and Lifecrafter's Bestiary and The Immortal Sun and Vanquisher's Banner and Keen Sense .

Also I meant to suggest Archangel Avacyn  Flip who flips into Avacyn, the Purifier .

Thanks austintayshus, I plan on adding some more angels/creatures in the future for sure. I got Rienne, Angel of Rebirth on friday and threw this deck together fairly quickly from what I had on hand.

I typically don't play green outside of a dino deck that I made a while ago, I'm an esper/orzhov guy. I feel that shows in the amount of sorceries and instants here lol. Thanks for the suggestion to push towards lands instead of artifacts. I haven't had too much trouble with artifact hate in my area but can see how it could hurt if this went up against the wrong deck.

I want to test this and see how it goes, but I'd be willing to bet that almost all of your suggestions will make their way into the deck soon. Especially the green ramp/draw cards.

Thank you

Hey, good start for a budget deck.

Unfortunately, doesn't seem like you've done much research for budget card alternatives especially since spent a lot of time on the primer and it's well done for your first primer. I however can't imagine how you're content with keeping cards like Luminous Bonds, Eternal Isolation, Sudden Disappearance, Grow from the Ashes, Gift of Paradise, etc. and writing about them when there's cards that are the same price that are so much better. Too bad you don't have a higher budget because Lyra Dawnbringer , Resplendent Angel and Luminarch Ascension are all excellent Angel tribal cards. There's a nice $50 upgrade you could make here that would improve the deck a lot.

This comment is only about the manabase. Consider improving the manabase with some budget lands? 31 lands is low when playing many high CMC Angels which includes Rienne. Going to have a difficult time supporting a 3.7 avg. CMC with only 31 lands. Consider 36-38 lands? Maze's End looks out of place because when playing it you want to also play all 11 Gates, but can't play them all with only Naya colors. Without five colors going all in with a Maze's End strategy than Gates are not worth it in a manabase. You would be better off simply playing more basic lands than Gates.

Budget lands ($3 or less each) to consider adding:

Could add all these lands for about $15.

Lands to consider cutting:

  • Maze's End
  • Gateway Plaza
  • Boros Guildgate
  • Gruul Guildgate
  • Stone Quarry
  • Tranquil Expanse
  • Blossoming Sands
  • Rugged Highlands
  • Wind-Scarred Crag
  • Unknown Shores

I offer more advice, other budget card suggestions. Would you like more advice? Good luck with your deck.

Path of Ancestry is also a must in a tribal deck. I also think Harmonize kinda has a chorus of the angels thing going, plus helps with your card draw problem. And While you've used pretty much all the multicolored angels you could, I'd give them a few multicolored support creatures to make your commander really pay off. Good-Fortune Unicorn , Gaddock Teeg , and Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas could all really help you out. Many tribal decks throw in an angel or two for support, so why not help out the angels?

Rhythm of the Wild is also just an amazing enchantment for a deck with a lot of high cost creatures, you wanna be able to give them haste whenever possible! Also, Entreat the Angels , Angelic Benediction , and Angel's Grace could help ya flavor it up a bit too...

multimedia Thanks for the input! as mentioned prior to the primer I tossed this deck together from cards I had on hand after getting the commander. I plan on revamping the mana base as well as working on getting some stronger creature driven effects in it.

Phule451 The suggestions rock, especially Rhythm of the Wild and Path of Ancestry .

Seriously, thank you all for the input.
