since you have 4 koths, why not put in a fireball. its simple but koth and fireball go together very well. I would make another comment but the comment i would make would DEFINATELY be inappropriate. Anyway, I do love the concept.

I've never liked Desperate Ravings . The random discard is too much of a liability for me, barring certain recursion schemes.

Gut Shot , either. I can see its useful niche as a free damage spell (so I like it better than Ravings) but Geistflame just seems far and away the superior 1-damage spell thanks to its flashback.

The random discard isn't exactly a liability when i think about it; you don't use it if you have better stuff to cast, but if you don't you get to see 2 cards. This is more useful in a control deck i admit, because you're looking for answers all the time, but i think the card advantage is still good enough here. Do you have suggestions for replacements? Maybe i need to play it more, before i make a final judgment ;)

I definitely agree with you here. I picked gut shot because i just made another deck in which it's a lot better than geistflame (Infernal Control), but i guess the advantages i describe there go less for a deck like this, and i don't get to pump any spheres there.

No prob. The "need to play with it" comment cuts both ways - I haven't really played with either of them, and I'm not in the Standard scene right now, so honestly I don't have a great feel for how they actually play out in practice in a deck like this.

I can see your point about Ravings; it's all in how you use it, I guess. I still don't like it much, but it's also not my style to begin with.

As for other suggestions...Well, Think Twice obviously comes to mind. That doesn't get you as many, though, and it doesn't charge the Shrine.

...actually, really, within Standard that's the only red draw spell. I still think that I'd personally swap them for either Think Twice s, but there's nothing else that both draws you cards and ticks up the counter.

Also, I just now noticed that Ravings is a singleton. Was it that way before and I missed it? Also: Whyfore? A singleton draw spell seems odd to me.

You could play Steady Progress that will draw you a card and could proliferate koth and shrine.

I would really like to keep the deck as low on blue as possible. All i need it for now is phyrexian blue mana and desperate's flashback cost. Mountains are necessary for the hammer.

I had 2 ravings in there but noticed that i had only 3 tezzeret's gambits, so i switched one with the other because i think i prefer the latter. (also pumps shrine, but only once, but is less mana intensive overall but is sorcery but also pumps koth)... Blablabla :p

Turn 4 ultimate Koth of the Hammer is really bad-ass, +1 all the way! You should consider Memnite and Infernal Plunge for a turn 2 Koth and turn 3 ultimate.
