So. I bought the Alela brawl deck. I have no interest in player Brawl so I dissembled the deck and Alela has been sitting around. A friend of my suggested playing Duel Commander. So I brought Alela out, dusted her off and made a Duel Commander deck with her. But now, my friend has already soured on the Duel Commander idea but I really like Alela and I want to keep the deck together but I don't want to invest heavy sums of money into it. Yes, I know there are crazy expensive cards in the deck but these were cards I pulled from collection. I haven't go to a LGS and spent money on this deck.

So, I'm at a loss here. Currently this deck is just straight up, mean esper control. My idea for what I want this deck to ultimately be is artifact and enchantment control. So things like Oblivion Ring, Executioners Capsule, Journey to Nowhere, etc etc etc that help me control my opponents field while generating tokens for me. But, I also like the idea of just straight up, mean esper control. I want the deck to revolve around Alela either way and I only want to run creatures that have a combination of hexproof, shroud, and indestructible. That's it. Maybe Snapcaster can stay. I also need to work out the mana base. I have several decks that incorporate white, black and blue so I didn't really have much of a mana base left to draw from my collection of.

Edit - Okay I went and spent money on the deck to fix the mana base but I kept it to a $50 CAD limit.

Edit 2 - Okay. So, Duel Commander idea is dead. Nobody wants to play it so I added in Sol Ring. I also spent $15 CAD to more go with that enchantment and artifact control aspect in order to help generate tokens.

Edit 3 - Okay. After playing this deck for a bit, without making it faster with more rocks and super artifact/enchantment utility to help spam out creatures tokens and more waves to protect Alela it seems the deck doesn't really work. So, I've changed it for being kind a half way that half way esper control to just straight up esper control. The games I've won came down to control and not Alela. So that's what I am going with going forward.

Edit 4 - Decided to make a cheerios style Alela deck but I really liked the Epser control aspect of this so I changed the commander to Chromium. I debated Sen Triplets but ultimately I wanted to do something different.

Edit 5 - So I'm keeping all the edits I've previously done because the story behind this deck is something else. I've obviously broken that $50 dollar vow and have spent a ton of money on this deck. I really feel this deck could be cEDH viable. It has so much utility and so much oppression and is basically the final form of what I've been trying to do with esper control in EDH for all this time. This is a deck I play a lot because it is super fun to me as a control player and I'm adding things to it still to this day. This deck keeps on getting better and better and I think with my Arcanis deck - this one is my most competitive.
