Brimaz, King of Oreskos and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad would work good in here.

Brimaz is good, I still have yet to even test him. I am not fully sold on him over something like Hero of Bladehold as Bladehold ends the game if left unanswered, Brimaz is generally a token generator with a body.

Same thing with Sorin.

This looks very similar to how my own token deck used to be. It's exceptionally rare that I see good b/w token decks on tapped out. The one thing I do question is Go for the Throat seeing how popular affinity is. +1 from a fellow token user.

I already use Stony Silence and Sundering Growth (sometimes) for affinity. Simply additional SB removal for aggro/combo? decks.

Thanks for the +1, not sure how you got here through.

I've helped most of the token decks on this site. I get notifications all the time, and I usually check them out to make sure no one suggests anything that would be detrimental. You commented on New World Army, and I was curious so I checked out your page for your token deck.

I just happened to see you were working on a primer. Is it for your own deck or for tappedout in general? I was planning on working on one for tappedout as a whole, that's why I'm asking.

NateJH says... #8

Mainly it is meant for my deck. I have a section dedicated to other choices/variants of the deck like planeswalkers, creature token makers, Squadron Hawks, etc. I think I will add a core section to the deck with my personal choices.

I trust you more with a primer though, take anything if you need it.

Sounds good! You have a nice mini-primer going on your deck as it is, nice job. Thanks for the shout out as well haha.

I find primers to be really useful for decks you enjoy, and think fill a really nice spot in the meta.

I'm not a fan of tokens, as they usually have inconsistent matchups. While tokens can be powerful, I still don't think they deserve this much attention on TappedOut. If you did a decklist and primer of one of the lesser known decks, like Eggs, that would be really appreciated.

NateJH says... #11

I plan to do GR Tron and then something like UW Control or Domain Zoo. I am hesitant to do something like Eggs as it hasn't had as much popularity/presence in the metagame lately.

Tokens is a good deck, inconsistency is its big weakness, but it does have fair game against most modern deck and gets better g2/g3.

Nice primer, I agree with all of your points. I played around with B/W Tokens for awhile, but found i wanted something a bit more competitive. But, one question...why no Dismember anywhere in the primer? I run it as a 2-of mainboard after being pestered about it for forever by everyone on tappedout, and find it to be pretty good.

July 21, 2014 12:11 p.m.

NateJH says... #13

I'll add it to the flex spots or sideboard. I haven't tested it in my own build yet as most competitive lists run Doom Blade for additional removal.

July 21, 2014 12:28 p.m.

xzzane says... #14

Dismember makes for a very good sideboard option. Most builds run only 4 Path to Exile though. Certain people, like Craig Wescoe prefer running extra removal with theirs, but the majority stick with just 4 Path to Exile . Also, no offense, Dalektable, but your build wasn't the most competitive version out there. Tokens can be very competitive if built the right way. They do have their weaknesses though. I'm hoping to make a more detailed primer in a week or two for b/w tokens.

Dalektable says... #15

xzzane I'm aware, no offense taken. But even with that said, my current version (the deck is private) is pretty much a standard competitive tokens build. It's very close to the ones that actually show results in big tournaments, but even that wasnt quite up to par. It's a good deck, but really I can handle far more deck match ups and take more down with 8rack or U/R Delver. I just feel there are stronger options out there, even in the tier two category.

xzzane says... #16

I personally disagree, but then I'm a token nut, so I'm biased haha. With my Swarm and Conquer I've been able to reliably take down any tier 1 deck that I face. U/R Delver is very powerful though, it's one of the few decks that I've outright lost 0-2 before in the past.

A explanation on how a deck works.

July 22, 2014 10:29 p.m.

I run Sorin, Lord of Innistrad in mine and it works fantastic, whether to put out a flier or give your tokens another mini anthem it can take over a game if left unchecked.

Also I run a Brimaz, King of Oreskos in the sideboard for more creature intensive match ups, along side with a one off Elspeth, Sun's Champion against control. It is steeply costed but when it hits the board it runs away with it.

Just some suggestions.

Looks good though!

July 24, 2014 10:29 a.m.

NateJH says... #20

I still haven't tested Sorin, I generally prefer Bladehold as she ends games unless dealt with. Elspeth seems steep for a 6cmc with only 23 lands. Might try it though.

July 24, 2014 10:37 a.m.

xzzane says... #21

There are better slots in the sideboard than Elspeth and brimaz. I found what Hero of Bladehold would be destroyed before she could even attack so often that she wasn't worth it. The reason this is is that tokens are not exactly Tarmogoyf s. No one wants to path a token. So they wait for the heros to show. I prefer my two walkers for this reason. But hero can definitely work, several token builds have top8ed running 2 or 3 heros.

July 24, 2014 12:06 p.m.

NateJH says... #22

Yeah, I find that most of the time she doesn't get removed and ends the game the next turn. Might just be my luck though.

Servo_Token says... #23

I'd suggest against having 3x Sorin, as your primer suggests as an acceptable number. He's great, but you will never want to be stuck with two of them.

I'd also have to say that the sword of your choice is meta dependent. W+P is probably the best for an unknown meta, but if you know what you're up against, F+I or F+F are usually the better options.

July 25, 2014 12:06 p.m.

xzzane says... #24

Actually Sword of Fire and Ice is generally considered to be the best sword, especially for an unknown meta.

July 25, 2014 12:12 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #25

Well, I say War and Peace for unknown strictly because it has the most synergy with the deck on the most basic level. Fire and Ice offers the best protection, but against some fields, the 2 damage and a card isn't that impactful. If you're facing down a field of Zoo, Tokens, and Tron, I don't think that Fire and Ice will be much help to you, whereas War and Peace will help you race much more.

Though the above situation is sort of unlikely, and I can also get behind the protection that fire and ice offers against the assumed decks like twin and scapeshift. Your sword choice is really just a meta call.
