Background

I've always wanted to build a sliver deck for casual play with my friends, so here is the attempt at making one. The basics are simple, add more Slivers to the field, buff them and give them different abilities, and run your opponent over with the swarm you have built. Right now, I have Megantic Slivers (only for the added +3/+3 he provides to all Slivers) in place of my desired Sliver Hivelord as he is fairly expensive, but in time I definitely plan to add him to my deck in real life. This is a complete deck and I have it in real life, though it could definitely be added upon and improved. To that end, if anyone has any feedback, be sure to leave a comment so I can make this deck better for everyone.

General Playstyle

This is a very aggro themed deck and you'll want to hit your foe in the face as quickly and as many times as possible, using the quick Slivers to overwhelm and overcome any obstacle that your opponent throws at you. Getting as many Slivers on the field as possible is paramount, and making the swarm larger and stronger is a must. If you like fast paced decks and a lot of creatures on the field with big power and a multitude of abilities, then Slivers are the creatures for you!

How The Deck Works

This deck is quick, agile and most of all, synergistic. Slivers are a great tribal if you really want to have each Sliver pulling their own and making the swarm bigger and stronger. We should try and start out every game with our 1 drop, Striking Sliver, and either of our 2 drop mana producers, Manaweft Sliver or Gemhide Sliver. These cards are very essential to steamrolling into the early game. Giving creatures first strike as well as the ability to fix our mana pool is a great combination in the beginning stages. After that, we want to try and get our friendly neighborhood haste sliver, Blur Sliver, out on the field to have either greater mana or damage output. From this point on, its just a manner of getting more and more Slivers out on the field so we can eventually play Lurking Predators. As this deck is solely creatures, land and the 2 copies of this enchantment, more often than not, you're going to be getting more Slivers on the battlefield each time your opponent casts any spell. Thanks to Modern Horizon coming out, a friend and I have thought of something of an alternative win condition for this deck, that being the addition of Horizon's Spiteful Sliver and Ixalan's Star of Extinction. If you can get our spiteful friend out on the field and cast star of extinction, you essentially win the game by having all your slivers deal 20 damage to your opponent's face. A large and quick horde is essential to outpacing your opponents and getting the upperhand in the fight. If you play your cards right and you evolve this massive swarm properly, victory is at hand.

Strengths and Weaknesses

No deck is perfect, that's to be expected. With this deck, I tried to get an even balance out with the cards included so our swarm could be a very formidable foe, though there are somethings that could be desired. The biggest problem you are going to run into here are board wipes. Anything like Settle the Wreckage and Bontu's Last Reckoning or, in some cases, Gates Ablaze, can spell immediate disaster for our swarm. Luckily, you can build up pretty quickly again if you get the right cards out after the wipe, but most times, it's going to be over.

A high strength of this deck however is its quickness. The swarm can grow and evolve very quickly, allowing you to overwhelm your foe with speed and precision. With very large Slivers thanks to Muscle Sliver and Predatory Sliver our slivers grow stronger and can survive where other creatures couldn't. Combine these buffs with Horned Sliver or Winged Sliver and our foe could be helpless to stop the swarm. Treat the swarm right and cultivate it to its full potential, and it can do wonders.

Overall Thoughts

The state that the deck is in now is playable, I can account for this from my own experiences using it and testing it out. Is it perfect? No. Is it fun to play? Yes. Feel free to take this deck as a baseline and edit it to make the playstyle more you. Maybe you want to take the enchantments out and some Slivers out for some room for instants and sorceries. Or maybe you want to change up the creatures and add others Slivers or stop it from being a Sliver tribal and add some other creature types you think would work well. At the end of the day, I just hope you have fun, whether you take this deck beat for beat or experiment with it and make it your own. Good luck!
