Creature (1)

Blood Crypt

A dark cauldron of brimstone and ichor swirls, forming a portal to somewhere dark, perverse, and of deepest chaos.

Stage one is now complete of the dark ritual. Prototype is now completed! Please help me with any feedback!

Why should we play this deck? Because we want to abuse Rakdos, Lord of Riot's ability to drop big scary creatures after wrecking havoc in combat.

Blood Crypt

Now that we've got that out of the way, lets talk about some of the scarier choices that I've made in this heavy creature deck. Most of my creature choices want to synergize with Rakdos being on the field to provide healthy doses of insanity.

The Red

Heartless Hidetsugu - Yes! Ultimately you should accept that you are insane. We're all free falling towards death, this just gets us there twice as fast. Rakdos will reward you by letting you cast any colorless creatures in your hand.

Combustible Gearhulk - His ETB effect could net you 3 cards or possibly smash the opponent pretty hard and potentially allow you to chain into even more expensive creatures.

Inferno Titan - No finer individual could lead us to the depths of hell. This titan is a staple and will help to ping creatures or opponents.

The Black

Maga, Traitor to Mortals - After a long, hard day of smashing faces, Rakdos loves to fuel the X cost of this creature. Again, there are even further possibilities to chain into large colorless creatures for free off of this.

Archfiend of Depravity - Keeping the opponents field honest! A persistent effect that will "mostly wipe" an opponents creatures at their end step.

Harvester of Souls - Casting big fat creatures all day is hard work. This guy will help to refill those coffers.

Ob Nixilis, Unshackled - Punish your opponents when they go to tutor up. Your tears sustain me.

Rune-Scarred Demon - This staple will help us go find the next devious thing that your opponents will groan over.

Sheoldred, Whispering One - Even the insane must accept that their own creatures will die. This will help bring your own creatures back, thin your opponents field, while guaranteeing that you will not make any friends while on the battlefield.

The Colorless

These are the sweetest part of the deck. Playing big fat monsters for free with Rakdos. If Rakdos is out, then we're swinging with him. That said, I'm anticipating that 6 CMC colorless creatures will be the sweet spot for consistently dropping creatures for free.

Endless One - With Rakdos, this card now reads: "Enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters where X is the amount of life your opponents have lost this turn."

Conduit of Ruin - Tutor up some more fun while further reducing the casting cost of your monstrosities. Yes, please.

Duplicant - A nice targeted exile, while also giving us some flexible options for making this "clone" into a large monster himself.

Scuttling Doom Engine - Rakdos only wants one thing: destruction. This creature is hard to block, powerful, and goes out with a bang. This fits the bill!

Steel Hellkite - Get in that damage and you're set for surgically destroying your opponent's permanents. A very satisfying way to wipe your opponent's advantage.

Wurmcoil Engine - Who wouldn't want to cast this ball of razors for free?

Bane of Bala Ged - This guy does a nice Annihilator impression, but the permanents are exiled instead!

Artisan of Kozilek - Those who have fallen in the name of chaos shall never die. Oh and Annihilator...2.

Void Winnower - This guy is just dirty.

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth - Yes.

Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger - Yes.

The Chaos

Grenzo, Dungeon Warden - Just like Endless One This guy can come in large and in charge. Paying 2 mana to fill your graveyard and possibly your field is a tempting pursuit.

Sire Of Insanity - Do it! Nobody need cards! Just chariots of brimstone!

Kaervek the Merciless - Good thing your opponents didn't want to cast spells.

Rakdos needs to be built around. We're not building tribal demons or vampires here. We're looking to tear down the sky. Lets explore the ways that we can incite a riot.

Blood Crypt

Bloodgift Demon - Most of the time I want this guy to give me card advantage. Those rare cases will emerge that we want to play Rakdos and we've got no way to ping our opponent short of this.

Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh   - Ping machine that can flip into a better ping machine.

Lobber Crew - Ping them good!

Nettle Drone - Riots!

Plague Spitter - A gross little riot instigator! Maybe he can wipe out some other creatures when he dies.

Sin Prodder - This little bastard can be hard to block, but if he can't make it through he can possibly start a riot each upkeep, or just draw some cards. Either way, the dark lord will be pleased.

Thermo-Alchemist - Riots will begin!

Shepherd of Rot - Another riot starter!

Palace Siege - This can either return creatures from the grave or ping each turn depending on your needs.

Retreat to Hagra - Drain life on landfall.

Chandra, Pyromaster - When she is not pinging, she is creating card advantage.

Sorin Markov - If you set someone's life to 10, they have "lost" the difference. With Rakdos present to see this degenerate move, you'll be able to cast any colorless creature. If you're trying to be more gentlemanly about your riots, you could always use his +2.

Why no Sol Ring? Because it won't help us cast Rakdos. Embrace the insanity.

Blood Crypt

Chromatic Lantern - All the color fixing, plus ramp.

Cryptolith Fragment   - There is no better mana rock for Rakdos.

Darksteel Ingot - A persistent little bugger.

Lightning Greaves - Lucifer, please keep my Rakdos safe!

Nevinyrral's Disk - I grow weary of this world.

Rakdos Keyrune - If you really need to incite a riot...but mostly just R/B mana.

Rakdos Signet - Usher the dark lord as quickly as possible.

Whispersilk Cloak - Lucifer, please keep my Rakdos safe!

Talisman of Indulgence - Who needs life anyway. I need R/B mana.

Whip of Erebos - Not the whip! This will keep the fun coming and granting you some life in the meantime.
