Hi, this is an Idea for a Soratami Deck featuring Azusa, Lost but Seeking for Land Play and Amulet of Vigor as well as Training Grounds to bring the double lands into play untapped and to lower the costs for the triggered abilities.

So to break it down on the creatures:

Now the Moonfolk

  • Soratami Cloudskater Carddraw and allows us to get rid of the legendaries which are on our Hand and in Play. Later we can use it to discard lands.

  • Floodbringer Is great for early disturbing and Control, if paired with Azusa, Lost but Seeking and Training Grounds you can seriously block your Opponent from turn 3 on. With 1/2 flying it can also block small creatures and Tokens etc.

  • Soratami Savant is the Control beast in this deck. With Training Grounds on the field, you have as much Counter spells as you have lands.

  • Patron of the Moon The big boss of the Moonfolk. Actually a Spirit, but he can be brought into Play by sacrificing a Moonfolk to reduce the mana costs. He allows us to bring Lands into Play during our opponents turn to create more disturbance. Also gives us an Infinite Mana Combo with Amulet of Vigor and the dual lands Azorius Chancery,Simic Growth Chamber and Selesnya Sanctuary.

  • Meloku the Clouded Mirror allows us to generate tons of Tokens. Enough said.

  • Uyo, Silent Prophet is a flat 4/4 and while the effect is not too useful on our own spells, we can copy the spells of our Opponent (and then Counter it of Course!)

  • Oboro Envoy can make the opponents creatures useless in the offensive. Note that the ability applies the debuff FOREVER. So not until the end of turn but really FOREVER. This can be quite nice with lots of Cards in Hand.

  • Soratami Rainshaper protects our creatures from evil removal. But is actually questionable.

So far for the creatures, now Enchantments, Sorceries and Artifacts.

Last but not least, the lands:

So how does this deck actually win games? Well this is the only Point where everything gets somewhat vague. It is no true Control deck since it is too slow for that, but we also dont really win in an aggressive Fashion. It's somewhere in between and depends on Cards we draw. It's sometimes a simple beatdown with Kefnet the Mindful if the Opponent doesnt run Flyers and sometimes it is more Control with Training Grounds, Floodbringer and Soratami Savant.

The Cards about which I'm unsure are Oboro Envoy and Soratami Rainshaper since they both serve Kind of protective Services, reducing the Overall aggressiveness of the deck, but I'm also not sure about the replacements yet.

  1. I consider Dosan the Falling Leaf to increase the Control part of the deck.
  2. To increase the offensive capabilities, i consider Adaptive Automaton, since it boosts all Moonfolk creatures or
  3. go for Soratami Mirror-Guard and Tamiyo, Field Researcher to get even more Card draw and damage from small creatures.
  4. The fourth Option i considered is to Play Adventuring Gear as for the landfall effect, but since i can only Play lands in my turn, this really leaves me vulnerable against enemy attacks.

So maybe Play more defensive spells like Deluge ? This could also be played as a finisher once you have Patron of the Moon and Kefnet the Mindful on the battlefield and enough Cards in Hand to attack.

I know that this deck is unlikely to be really competitive in modern, but i think it is quite nice for some casual Play or FNM. I know that there exist alot stronger Combos - even some involving the soratami in a landfall deck - but this is not the purpose of this deck, since i try to Keep some flavor in this deck. This is already quite reduced by the Ravnica dual lands but otherwise the deck doesn't work at all. The Focus should be - and is in my opinion - on the Moonfolk creatures disrupting the enemy and being the core concept of the deck.

So i really appreciate suggestions evolving around this central aspect of the deck and maybe other Cards out of the Kamigawa block. Thank you very much in advance!
