PRIMER-The Circle of Life- Budget Endrek Sahr EDH

Commander / EDH* Aristocrats Budget Mono-Black Primer

Welcome to The Circle of Life!

This deck is quite simple, cast creatures with Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder out and sac thrulls for great effect, like card draw or pumping a creature. Once Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder is out, even if your behind you can usually pull through, especially since this deck is at its best in the long game. This deck is all about deception, a lot of the cards in this deck are under the radar and can catch your opponents off guard when you use them at their true power.

Before Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder is out however, the deck is very fragile and weak. Since most of this deck is creatures your opening hand has a high chance of being filled with them, which is a bad thing. A lot of the creatures in this deck are useless without creatures to sac, forcing you to save them for when Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder is out. This can be a massive problem in the early game, a perfect opening hand would be one with 3 lands and 2-3 ramp cards with 1 card draw card and if possible one creature. But once Endrek Sahr is out the deck has so much synergy that winning from that point forward isn’t hard to do, especially with Skullclamp or any sort of card draw engine as any time you cast a creature you will essentially draw cards equal to that creature’s cmc. With any sort of sacrifice a creature draw a card effect it is very easy to keep on casting spells over and over again since this deck ramps so hard. And if you keep drawing cards eventually you will draw a draining effect such as Zulaport Cutthroat which will kill your opponent’s. Because of this if you have Endrek Sahr out, a card draw engine, and a creature in your hand you will accrue such an advantage and possibly win the turn after or the turn after that.

The most crucial part of this deck, the sac outlets. Since Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder has a cap to how many creatures he can make before being sacrificed, this forces the deck into a sac deck rather than a token deck. The following are sac outlets that are included in the deck and there descriptions.

Bloodthrone Vampire / Nantuko Husk / Phyrexian Ghoul / Vampire Aristocrat / Carrion Feeder : These cards are probably the most simple and underestimated part of the deck. Someone Cast Toxic Deluge ? Sac enough creatures to make these cards survive. someone attacks you with their 6/6 creature(maybe their commander)? Block with one of these then sac creatures before damage step to kill the creature without letting your own creature die.

God-Eternal Bontu : A creature version of Reprocess which was previously in the deck but was taken out due to it not being reliable enough. This is a different case as with the commander out he will instantly net us 5 thrulls to be able sac and draw on top of him being able to periodically come back to our hand and do it all you over again and again.

Flesh-Eater Imp : Also similar to the previously mentioned cards but at the same time quite different. First it has flying making it harder to block, but more importantly it has infect. When people see this card they will try to destroy it, but killing at least one person with it(which is quite easy) is well worth it.

Phyrexian Plaguelord : One of my favorite cards in the deck. He enters the battlefield with 5 creatures, allowing you to instantly sac those 5 creatures to kill one or two of your opponents creatures, then later in the game he can keep providing you with removal. Great Card.

Bolas's Citadel : Can work as a sac outlet but because we can only have 6 thrulls at a time it doesn’t happen often, it’s mainly used for being a super broken version of Future Sight .

Dimir House Guard : This card is super versatile. Tutor for Pitiless Plunderer almost always to make your creatures free or if you either already have him out or think you can win without him Flesh-Eater Imp and Falkenrath Noble can win you the game quick. Crypt Ghast can be tutored for tons of ramp. Also can only be countered by cards that counter activated abilities.

Sadistic Hypnotist : can use the 5 creatures he makes to right away force your opponents to discard 10 cards. Pretty much none of your opponents can keep cards in hand.

Viscera Seer : Classic sac outlet that gives you ways to churn through your deck and is cheap to cast

These include the cards that are in this deck that warrant a description.

Butcher of Malakir : Whenever you sac a creature you make your opponents sac a creature? This basically means your opponents can't keep creatures on the board. Be careful since this card will make you sac your commander.

Brainspoil : Tutors for Black Market , Phyrexian Plaguelord , Custodi Lich , Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Sadistic Hypnotist , Dictate of Erebos , Magus of the Coffers , Shriekmaw , God-Eternal Bontu , and Krav, the Unredeemed , Massacre Girl . Can be removal, card draw, mana ramp, damage/lifegain, emptying your opponents hands, a board wipe or making your opponents sacrifice creatures. As with Dimir House Guard , it can't be countered traditionally.

Gift of Doom : This card is very good at protecting our commander, which we want to do. You can sacrifice a of thrull to turn this card face up, not only giving your commander indestructible but also deathtouch which could be useful in response to a block on top of protecting our commander.

Massacre Girl : With my commander out she will basically wipe out the whole board. With nothing else but the thrulls she creates and my commander everything will get -6/-6, but if your opponent’s have creatures she’s pretty much a guaranteed clean wipe. Also ignores indestructible and she is still left on the battlefield.

Endless Cockroaches : As long as you have 3 mana you have creatures to sacrifice with this card, can also be used as a blocker and is completely broken with Pitiless Plunderer .

Falkenrath Noble / Zulaport Cutthroat / Vindictive Vampire : Enters the battlefield with creatures and causes your opponents to lose life and you gain life whenever you sac creatures. Pretty much the main win condition of this deck, most of the time you will be draining your opponent’s out to victory with at least one of these cards.

Fleshbag Marauder : makes 3 thrulls and forces your opponents to sacrifice a creature.

Kuon, Ogre Ascendant  : Makes 3 creatures and if all those creatures die you cause everyone to sac creatures at the beginning of their upkeep. This doesn’t hurt us at all while putting pressure on our opponent’s boards.

Pitiless Plunderer : Ridiculous card. So he makes four creatures which you can sac to refund his cost and you can do the same for the rest of the creatures in this deck? With your commander he's Omniscience for creatures.

Pontiff of Blight : Does your playgroup have Ghostly Prison , Propaganda and the like? well this allows you to have an alternate win condition. This with Black Market , Magus of the Coffers or Cabal Stronghold and you're set.

Reaper from the Abyss : This allows you to sac a creature every turn and destroy one of your opponent’s non-demon creatures, that means every rotation of the table you are able to destroy 4 creatures. Basically no one can keep a decent board unless their demon tribal.

Bontu's Monument : Makes your creatures cost less and drains your opponents? Auto-include.

Skullclamp : Everyone knows that any deck with lots */1 creatures needs this card.

Black Market : Perfect in this deck. Not only do you get value for sacrificing your creatures but also when any creature dies including your opponents? This can easily get 20 charge counters if it stays on the battlefield.

Phyrexian Reclamation : Allows you to recur your creatures and recast them for more thrulls.

Dark Prophecy : Draws you tons of cards but be careful, the loss of life can start to be a problem especially when your at single digit health

Genesis Chamber : even though its a symmetrical effect, it’s usually a lot better for you an its effect is quite powerful.

Urborg Justice instant speed target player boardwipe if you sacrificed enough creatures

Shriekmaw 2 mana kill a creature create 5 thrulls? Yes please.

You will need a sac outlet, Endless Cockroaches , Zulaport Cutthroat / Bontu's Monument / Falkenrath Noble , Pitiless Plunderer Part of this combo is the Pitiless Plunderer strategy. When you play Endless Cockroaches , you get 4 creatures, the 3 tokens and Endless Cockroaches . When you sac all these creatures, if Pitiless Plunderer is out, you make 4 mana. Then with 3 of that mana you can replay endless cockroaches, creating infinite mana. if you have Zulaport Cutthroat / Falkenrath Noble , each time you sac a creature you deal damage to your opponents, since you can sac infinitely thats infinite damage. Bontu's Monument works in the same way, instead its whenever you cast a creature, since you can infinitely cast Endless Cockroaches , etc. This combo takes quite a few card and isn’t really competitive but with how much card draw and mana this deck can generate it’s still pretty reasonable to pull off.

Ophiomancer : Makes tokens every turn including your opponents as long as you can reliably sac them every turn, making it pretty amazing especially if your opponent's have a lock on your commander.

Cabal Coffers : The better more expensive Cabal Stronghold .

Necropotence : this probably the single most powerful card draw card in edh period, only thing that is better is Ad Nauseam .

Liliana, Dreadhorde General : More card draw and is a token generator with an edict effect. Does everything this deck wants.

Grave Pact / Dictate of Erebos : The enchantment version of Butcher of Malakir which also doesn't make you sacrifice your commander and is a good amount cheaper to cast.

Toxic Deluge : Obvious boardwipe upgrade.

Vampiric Tutor / Demonic Tutor / Imperial Seal / Diabolic Intent : Extremely expensive but a 1/2 mana tutor is to many very worth it.

Beseech the Queen : Not super expensive or powerful but very serviceable tutor.

Phyrexian Altar : Makes your creatures basically free with your commander. Since Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder turns cmc into creatures, Phyrexian Altar turns creatures back into cmc/mana, very expensive though.

Sidisi, Undead Vizier : makes thrulls and tutors for a card. Definite include in the deck if you have the money.

Massacre Wurm : makes thrulls and is a one-sided boardwipe.

Black Sun's Zenith : Board wipe that destroys indestructible creatures and also can just make your opponents creatures smaller.

Jet Medallion : An expensive but amazing ramp card.
