A "Shocking" Update! —June 28, 2017

Just bought all the on-color shock lands for the deck, including Drowned Catacomb, Shivan Reef, City of Brass, and Mana Confluence. Feels good to finally have no tap lands!

davidsays1 it's a solid list imo too haha, the only thing I'm really looking to upgrade is the mana base, and it's not gonna be that much of a hassle. Probably gonna be adding in at least the pain lands, and maybe some shocks. I also know some sleeves that would fit this deck perfectly, it's just a matter of finding those haha.

Besides that, you can definitely add in cards like Mycosynth Lattice, either of the Tezzerets, and Wurmcoil Engine. But like you said, it's a pretty solid list to me too. Thanks for the upvote! :)

Fancy budget Breeya. I like it. Wurmcoil Engine, Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, Darksteel Forge, Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast would all be great additions.

Cravinovv I'll definitely consider Darksteel Forge for the deck. The rest are rather pricey for me at the moment, but they'd be great additions for sure. Thanks for the upvote and suggestions!

Mana Echoes also doubles for Altar and KCI in that combo, you just have to invest more for Deathmantle to kickstart the combo, after that it's self sustaining. Keep in mind that mana echoes will count a creature that has no matches on the field. (Breya + 2 tokens = . In the case of Deathmantle you use to sac Breya + Thopter then use your then add to return her, then you get mana)

I like Altar of the Brood for another funny way to win. I also enjoy Bitter Ordeal for your constant recursion.

Triton says... #7

Ohthenoises Mana Echoes will be added as soon as I can afford it, never realized it can be the third KCI or Altar.

mdc7233 Bitter Ordeal is really good in the deck, I think I'lol take out some cards I've been meaning to cut for the card. Altar of the Brood is good, it's just a matter of me knowing whether or not my playgroup uses Eldrazi Titans.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Mana echoes is also supremely stupid with panharmonicon, breya to an empty field is 34 mana.

Are you interested in the other 3-card combos involving Breya? One such example is the Palinchron combos, which would be 5 cards for 4 more possible win combos. I'm acquiring a list of all of them at http://tappedout.net/mtg-forum/commander-deck-help/how-many-3-card-infinite-combos-involve-breya/

So I've been considering adding Grand Architect to the deck, should I add in Pili-Pala? It's an infinite mana combo, and the former makes Breya combo off with Nim Deathmantle, but the latter seems weak on its own. Opinions? :)

Nice deck, I would suggest you replace Hellkite Tyrant with Spellskite. It is just too risky with the amount of steal spells in commander.

December 18, 2016 5:22 p.m.

Triton says... #12

Enral it USB true that Hellkite Tyrant is risky, I swapped Master of Etherium in favor of it because the Tyrant could steal opponents' mana rocks and possibly win me the game (though unlikely). Spellskite is very good, but he is currently out of my budget, are there any more similar ones to him, perhaps? Thanks for the suggestion!

something like Sadistic Sacrament would be amazing at picking out artifact hate.

Nice deck... +1 from me!

I don't know what your budget is for this deck, but Demonic Tutor is amazing.

December 18, 2016 6:49 p.m.

Triton says... #15

Wurmlover Sadistic Sacrament is great, but is really hard to play in four colors, and even if mana fixing wasn't an issue, I'd run Necropotence over it due to the large amount of card advantage it gives me. Thanks for the suggestion, however! :)

ObamaIsIlluminatiOhYeah currently the budget is around $110-115 lol. I'be heard white-bordered Demonic Tutor is cheap, so I'll consider adding it in sooner or later. Thanks for the suggestion!

I've always liked Beseech the Queen for a "budget" tutor. Yeah you have to reveal but if you are tutoring for a combo piece you play this turn it really works wonders.

Also, the fact that it can be cast for rather than is really quite cool when most of the combos net colorless mana.

Ohthenoises I completely forgot about that card haha, I'll definitely consider adding it in, thanks for the suggestion!

Just wondering if you find Grand Architect + Pili-Pala and Sydri, Galvanic Genius + Aetherflux Reservoir combos too clunky and gimmicky? I would honestly replace them with more protection, reanimation, and card draw like Windfall/Thirst for Knowledge.

December 19, 2016 noon Edited.

Triton says... #19

Enral Grand Architect combos with Breya and Nim Deathmantle/Pili-Pala. It is true that Pili is a tad clunky on its own, however.

I do agree Sydri + Aetherflux are probably a little too gimmicky, so I could most likely take them out and the deck will run smoother.

Thanks for the input!

Not a problem, feel free to check my deck out too!

I have a Grenzo, Dungeon Warden combo deck that has about six or seven ways to go infinite. The only issue with playing a deck like that at a table over a long period of time is people know what to expect and will just take the linchpin out of your combo. I like your list if you just want to blow out the gate and say "I win" sometimes but be warned people will meta against you and make it harder for you to win. I can't keep my Ashnod's Altar on the table for longer than a turn.

December 20, 2016 7:22 p.m.

Triton says... #22

KroggandMohawk I kinda realized that as soon as I tested this and combo'd out consistently relatively quickly haha. I do have a couple combo decks in my meta, along with two more cutthroat Breya decks that pretty much sneeze out their hands by T4. The deck I'm usually gonna be playing is Angry Omnath and this deck is meant for when my playgroup members whip out powerful decks.

December 20, 2016 9:04 p.m.

Triton I get you. Me and my guys all have our big boy decks, too. XD

I've actually been pretty consistent at outpacing/ignoring Narset, Enlightened Master with my own Breya deck. I didn't really expect this deck to be that powerful, but it is usually!

Narset was my absolute best deck, meant for those revenge kills after a few salty defeats, or to play against more cutthroat playgroups, but Breya has proven just as powerful most of the times, and a lot more fun for everybody, in comparison. I've had people borrow my Narset deck against my Breya deck and I won, whenever I didn't end up mana screwed.

And even if you don't go all in with a big budget for those expensive cards, the deck is actually pretty affordable. I'm shifting my deck a bit more into what yours look like, with less creatures and less token generators, to favor some additional control - if I'm comboing off it doesn't matter if I have 2 Thopters or 20 on the battlefield by that time, it matters if I am still alive. So countermagic, all sorts of removal, Baby Jace, and Torrential Gearhulk, instead of big bombs like Hellkite Tyrant and such. I really wanted to make Blightsteel Colossus work, but then I faced a Sen Triplets deck, filled with Acquire and other theft cards like that. I ended up having to get rid of Blightsteel Colossus 3 times in one game and I still won, but it's more of a liability than a game ender and it's the perfect example of why the more controlling route is probably the best for Breya.

I really liked your list, well deserved upvote ;)

Feel free to check out my own as well, I'm thinking about those changes to my own list so any suggestion is welcome!

GS10 I agree completely! Usually in my playgroup, when I whip out Breya, people take extra efforts for me not to combo out, and when I do I usually win. I've been considering more draw power and tutors in place of the general goodstuff cards that I added. Thanks for the kind words and upvote, and I'll for sure check out your list!
