I played at a standard tournament Wednesday and these are the results.

Round 1: BG aggro

First game I had to mulligan to 5.. bad start, He quickly played Dreg Mangler and Knight of Infamy. I played Intangible Virtue and Gather the Townsfolk. He kept swinging for 3 until I could regain board control. I tragic slipped his knight and double blocked his Dreg Mangler, but he destroyed Intangible Virtue with a Golgari Charm and killed my humans. Game was very close. Life:2 - 0---- Second game I quickly won with tokens and a switch to Silverblade Paladin and Falkenrath Aristocrat.---- Game 3 ended quite long. I don't quite remember how it played out, but I lost relatively badly because of his Dreg Manglers. He played an Increasing Savagery on one of them and I couldn't kill it.

Round 2: BG graveyard Easy 2 wins. This deck was poorly made. He had Boneyard Wurms and Splinterfright, and well as ghoul tree which was easy enough to block with tokens. I made quick work of his deck.

Round 3: Pillow Wall

By far the weirdest deck I have seen. Game 1 he kept Oblivion Ringing and Detention Sphereing my creatures. He then played Curse of Death's Hold and played 2 Sphere of Safetys. keeping me from doing anything. ---- Game 2 I quickly played tokens and buffed them. Silverblade Paladin with Falkenrath Aristocrat to make a quick win.---- Game 3 he played the same game as 1, but I oblivion ringed 2 of his oblivion rings. He then detention sphered mine and made quick work as he put down 2 more Sphere of Safetys and I conceded. ---- His win strategy was Nephalia Drownyard to mill you out.

Round 4: Game 1 he mulliganned down to 4 and I quickly sped ahead to kill him. ---- Game 2 he played Avacyn's Pilgrim to a turn 2 Arbor Elf and Farseek to a turn 4 Angel of Serenity. He quickly made work of my deck.---- Game 3 I Pillar of Flamed his ramp and quickly Silverblade Paladin and Hellrider for 12 damage turn 4. He had no rebuttal and conceded.----

There it is 2-2. Fun tournament, but I didn't get to test on any America control or Naya midgame.

I did have that in before and it worked great as long as I had the humans to feed it. I could only feed it for so long before it killed me so it needed to be a game-ender. It takes too long to get out and the deck has become more quick aggro.

very true. perhaps card:Altar's Reap for card draw and an excuse to sacrifice Doomed Traveler . Undying Evil might be funny too

Murder or Victim of Night contribute to Blood Artist . Maybe even Killing Wave if you feel like pissing everyone off at once while you fuck shit up with the Blood Artist

Oh yeah, I forgot about Victim of Night . I've been searching for some more instant removal, but couldn't find any other than Ultimate Price , which is still a decent card, if not sideboard material.

Yeah personally I mainboard Victim of Night and then side in Murder if I face vamp/zomb/were. the only issue with that is standard is riddled with those right now, but it is nice to have against the decks that don't have them.

Concievably you could mainboard Ultimate Price and then sideboard Murder for the same effect, but it would be less reliant on black mana. And it would only be effective against mono colored creatures.

I really like this deck; the fact that you can produce so many tokens to sac to Falkenrath Aristocrat is awesome. Also, they can win on their own with Intangible Virtue out!

The only suggestion I have is to try to find room for Silverblade Paladin . If you pair him with Precinct Captain and hit a player, you'll get two tokens!

Or

OR!

Turn 3: Silverblade Paladin

Turn 4: Falkenrath Aristocrat , pair, hit for 8 up top and 4 on the ground!

So, I would say:

-3 Blood Artist

-1 Searing Spear

+4 Silverblade Paladin

You can side in Blood Artist if your opponent is playing board wipes, or add a board wipe of your own, sac a token if Falkenrath Aristocrat is on the battlefield and deal some damage!

P.S.

How do you put a picture so it can show up on the main page?

Thanks for the input my_gizmo! I think you're right... I've had the Blood Artist for probably 2 weeks, and its usually the card that I don't really like drawing. I'd much rather draw a Silverblade Paladin .

P.S.To put the picture up just type the name of the card into featured card under edit deck.

Increasing Devotion is another good human gen card for later in the game. You could also combo Falkenrath Aristocrat with Traitorous Blood or Mark of Mutiny to sac your opponents creatures.

I need to drop Blood Artist for something in my sideboard. Any suggestions are helpful. I'm looking for more instant/sorcery/enchantment that can help me in case the opponent's deck is surprising.

Tragic Slip is always good. Dreadbore is a good creature/planeswalker kill card.

You would benefit greatly from card:Geralf's Messenger. It is very black heavy, but it's definitly worth it.

It's a great deck based around Falkenrath Aristocrat . Don't work in the card:Geralf's Messenger. +1 bro.

I would take out the Precinct Captain, it feels a bit clunky in the deck and over all doesn't give a whole lot even when it does go off. I would suggest Blood Artist in the main board, also you could run Brimstone Volley as a good finisher. Tragic Slip could also work.

You're right. I never really like getting Precinct Captain . I mostly like him because he has first strike and is good for protection, but his ability isn't amazing. I used to have Blood Artist in my main before but it never put out the way I needed it to. It would only work if I had multiple creatures out to either kill theirs or die themselves. It is a good card but standing alone it is one of the worst cards to draw. If I have no creatures and I'm top decking and draw a Blood Artist , I'm screwed, but if I drew even a Doomed Traveler , it could save me for 2 turns, plus if i have Intangible Virtue out I could even swing. I just don't know what to replace precinct captain with.

If you do need more human tokens to sacrifice Increasing Devotion would be a great card to add. It is a little costly but near the end game when you have run out of cheaper tokens it is a good card.

I don't see the point of mucking up your land-base just for Falkenrath Aristocrat and Lingering Souls . Archwing Dragon and Midnight Haunting would keep your mana-base very simple and still bring just the same amount of aggro.

I think you're right. I used to have more black in the deck but never wanted to drop it completely. I had stuff like Skirsdag High Priest and Bloodline Keeper  Flip for token producers. I really wanted Falkenrath Aristocrat s, so I added red, and red is great haha. I don't really like the idea of having to play Archwing Dragon every turn to put in the 4 damage, but I'll play around with it. Plus Falkenrath Aristocrat is great trade bait!

zandl says... #25

Don't view Archwing Dragon 's continual cost of 4 mana as a negative thing. View it as 4 mana to make it immune to Sorcery-speed removal, which is 80% of the removal currently.
