Tezzerets Deadly Puppet Show

So this deck is kind of just a prototype to see if I like the play of the deck. The idea is to drop creatures and artifacts and having a huge creature base and also having some marionette action for game winning strategy with ethrium cells, clues, or walking ballistas. I use tezzerets -2 in a pinch to destroy opponents big creatures if needed.

if you're going to run blue, at least make roo for at least 2 counterspells (Negate) in the sideboard, if not mainboard

you do realise that Marionette Master's trigger ability bury, not remove from battlefield, don't you?

euananddalesaccount I will add negate to the deck, your second comment has me a little confused. I realize that she can't cause the artifact to go to graveyard but that's what tezzeret(tezzeret produces artifact cells that have sac for mana) is for along with clues.

I feel like this deck is trying to do too many things, at the moment. Notably there are no 4 ofs, except for land.

It has 9 Creatures that cost 5 CMC or more, but nothing to help Ramp into them, other than As Foretold, which is quite a slow way of achieving Ramp.

What does the deck actually want to do? What are its win conditions?

The plan to use Tezzeret the Schemer's -2 ability on Marionette Master is a risky plan, given that Mechanised Production is in the mix. You could end up just killing Marionette Master.

What I would do is:

  1. Think of two effective ways for this deck to win.
e.g. Through Servos + Mechanised Production
    Ramp into Gearhulks
Using Marionette Master and a bunch of Artifacts

  2. Go through and take out every card that won't achieve those.

  3. Put in some 4 of the cards that will BEST help you achieve those. Think about what other cards might be useful eg. Ramp facilitators.

  4. Clear out the 5+ drops so that you only have four or five.

Let me know when you've done that ground work and I'll swing by for another look.

Argeaux thanks for your input, I will take your advice seriously, what is 4 ofs anyway? And I was ok with the high mana curve due too herald of anguishes improvise ability

4 of a card. 4 copies.

If you want to get Herald of Anguish out through improvise then have three or four copies, and make it the top of your curve.

Then have more ways of putting Artifacts on the field, so you almost always get it out on Turn 4 or 5.

Maybe putting some more Creatures with Fabricate in would facilitate that.

You could also use Tezzeret the Schemer'S ability multiple times on Marionette Master without killing it if you attached something to it like Stitcher's Graft.

Just throwing out some ideas.

But don't tokens Disappear when they leave play? So if you sacrifice one with a sacrificer effect, it would just leave the game, not go to the graveyard (which is the new way of saying 'bury')?

euananddalesaccount anything that's destroyed will hit the graveyard and then it dissolves, so even cracking a clue will trigger marionette

I've made quite a few changes to this and it's starting to look like a fun funky deck, changes will be post tomorrow evening!

Argeaux ok so I've done a bunch of changes what do you think?

I don't think Hope of Ghirapur is the best one drop for this deck.

I would choose one of these instead:

I'm not sold on Vizier of Many Faces. I would take all of them out and put two extra one drops, and an extra Walking Ballista.

So, give this a try:

2x Hope of Ghirapur
3x Vizier of Many Faces

4x Oviya Pashiri, Sage Lifecrafter
1x Walking Ballista

No idea how that will play, but I think it's worth a try.

I should also have said that the mana base seems to be working REALLY well.

Those Spires of Industry should do make a difference.

OK I did a little bit of testing with Oviya Pashiri, Sage Lifecrafter in this deck and she seems to work quite well.

She can keep making little Servos if you need blockers, and all those Servos are good for everything else you want this deck to do.

She brings your mana curve down a bit if you take out Vizier of Many Faces for her.

Those little Servos are also good for making Fatal Push hit a 4CMC Creature, as you don't really care if you sacrifice them. You know you can just make another one.

EnderPlaysCompetitiveMTG I had herald of anguish in here but he was too high of cmc. Argeaux I was think maybe dropping the Hope of Ghirapur for Oviya Pashiri, Sage Lifecrafter, and Vizier of Many Faces I actually really liked the play of this card in this deck because I can copy oppenents stuff or my own, so if someone drops an Ulamog, ceaseless hunger I can copy and gain board advantage

May 19, 2017 1:44 p.m.

Argy says... #20

If you make a COPY of Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger you do NOT get to Exile two permanents, because you did not CAST it.

Just so you realise.

I know why you are using Vizier of Many Faces but you need a firmer idea of what you want it to do than, "I'm just gonna copy my Opponent's stuff".

What if their stuff isn't that good? Then it's a wasted card.

If you are copying something that YOU have, then you may as well just put another copy of that card in.

It works best in a deck where it can copy a really big, devastating Creature that you have out. I mean you could get value out of it with Verdurous Gearhulk, but then you have to wait until Turn 6 to get any value, which means you'll be sitting on at least six of your cards until Turn 5 or later.

You could have just put an extra copy of Verdurous Gearhulk in, which would be cheaper to cast.

Argeaux I think Vizier of Many Faces is a flexible enough card in this deck only because it is a 4 drop and I feel I need to play test with it a little more before it cuts the axe, last Tuesday that card was performing very well for me with how the deck was playing. I will take your suggestion seriously I just feel for now I would like to do some more testing with the deck and see if everything is kosher
