tuning & tweaking —July 17, 2016

Three issues I've noticed myself having with the deck recently. Don't know when they'll be addressed, but they are things I'm keeping in mind when swapping cards.

-lack of mana - I don't have nearly as many mana rocks as I'd like, so I get outramped and outmaneuvered by the decks that are running a bunch of ramp.

-lack of card draw - traditionally one of white's weaknesses.

-vulnerability to wraths - tied in with the lack of card draw - if all my resources are in the form of tokens, wraths hurt.

Another relatively minor issue is the lack of reanimation targets - I have a fair number of reanimation spells in the deck, but few ways to make them relevant.

So, swaps. Was at the EMN prerelease recently - didn't open anything for this (or any of my other decks, for that matter x.x), but did do some trading.

+MImic Vat - a card I've wanted to test for a long time. fairly flexible - utility creatures with ETB effects die all the time.

+Surveyor's Scope - an attempt to keep up with all the green ramp. Don't know if it is any good, so testing. (sidenote: would like an Oath of Lieges to test for a similar reason)

+Altar of Dementia - another sac outlet. Ashnod's/Phyrexian would be preferred, but just testing at the moment. Most likely to mill myself, I guess? Not sure. I'll throw it in the 'attempts to hit reanimation targets' bucket.

+Ashen Rider - speaking of reanimation targets.....

+Avatar of Woe - potentially hardcastable (if enough things go in graveyards). I've noticed that I tend to lack removal outside Grave Pact and Teysa.

-Cloudgoat Ranger, Geist-Honored Monk - pile of bodies, but weak to a wrath.

-Eternal Dragon - cut again. Slower than I'd like, and 5 mana recursion isn't nearly impactful enough.

-Fleshbag Marauder - already have Merciless Executioner, and don't feel like I want two of this effect.

-Treasury Thrull - needing to attack makes it a bit slower than I would like. Probability of getting multiple things back with it also seems low.
