First Blood! —Jan. 13, 2019

This deck has had decent success at this last week's FNM (the first time I took it for a proper spin). It is very vulnerable to targeted removal against my PWs, though, so I'm considering options like Teferi's Protection (and protection like Lightning Greaves for my creatures as well). I'm planning to continue to mess with this deck in the future, it's proving to be a lot of fun!

Hey there! I was called, some things that interest me...

Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants seems really unimpactful to me. I would recommend a different, more high powered walker for this deck, and looking over what is in the maybeboard I think that either Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath or Ajani, Caller of the Pride would be a better fit, as they can play a long game better while working towards their ultimates.

Another walker I'm interested in seeing is Liliana, Death's Majesty. I'm not sure of your personal experience, but wouldn't Liliana Vess be a better fit here? Same mana cost, seems much more versatile. Thoughts?

Also, Oath of Gideon can help speed things along and protect your board.

Something you can think about if you add more walkers is Deploy the Gatewatch, it can put so much more than 6 mana into play.

Again, just some thoughts. Hope things go well!

Given what you said before, I'd feel hesitant to advise and substitutions of one card for another. I am however a sucker for "win more" cards and am curious why you're not using The Chain Veil even though it cannot go infinite in your build.

I would mention that while Teysa does provide protection via removal, I'm not so sure she's the best fit for an Orzhov superfriends deck. Vona, Butcher of Magan or Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim provide non-land removal for one, but Daxos the Returned provides bodies to throw in the way of aggressors (and he could throw anthems and pillow fort down while staying on theme). Worst case scenario there's always the second Teysa.

I do feel at the least that you should look closely at running the Gideon line of walkers. Gideon Jura gives all of your other walkers a reprieve from being attacked. The Amonkhet one can flat stop you from losing (and, mind you, can be targeted by Sun Titan). And lastly the Zendikar one provides free tokens and anthems.

I'll give more specific replies shortly, but holy hell, how did I forget about Peacekeeper???? Thank you for the reminder.

I like the deck idea!

I second the suggested planeswalkers: Gideon of the Trials and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar.

I think both Oath of Gideon and Oath of Liliana are worth running here. Both supply tokens which goes with your protection theme, Gideon makes ultimating faster or using a middle ability safer. Liliana is a nice Fleshbag Marauder which helps protect your walkers too and kills voltrons.

I'd advise against Deploy the Gatewatch... even in my Narset superfriends I wiffed a lot. It's only good if you have a lot of walkers and a lot of deck manipulation.

You might want Selfless Spirit to protect yourself from board wipes.

That's all I can think of for now!

Okay! Now that I have a few more minutes to write detailed responses...

IAmTheWraith: Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants has been...surprisingly helpful? He's not the most powerful walker in the world, but his ult is neat (and this deck can actually get there). The 3 white tokens per turn are one free exile with Teysa. I could see Ajani, Caller of the Pride in that slot I suppose, but I wanted my wincons to not be defeated by a board wipe (hence why I've largely avoided "one-time" token effects). I may rethink this in the future.

Liliana, Death's Majesty has been AMAZING in this deck. Sure, her ult doesn't help much, but her -3 is invaluable and her +1 is really nice, to produce a consistent stream of blockers/sac fodder (not to mention the fantastic art). Liliana Vess is definitely an option, though - I'm still tinkering with my PW composition.

TheRedGoat: I've included The Chain Veil in the newest draft here, but it's been pretty inconsistent. I'll keep testing. I'll also see if I can find a home for Gideon, Ally of Zendikar here.

Suns_Champion: Thanks! I'm not surprised you like it, TBH, since Elspeth, Sun's Champion is one of the central cards XD

I'm not fully convinced by Oath of Liliana, but Oath of Gideon seems pretty decent here. I do not like Deploy the Gatewatch, since you need twenty-eight PWs in your deck to consistently hit 2 in the top 7 cards. And I'll think on Selfless Spirit!

Thank you all for your advice! (And is there anything you'd change in the newer draft?)
