Teysa Karlov's Citadel

Description is still in progress.

Teysa Karlov enables us to get insane value when our stuff dies. We will use this value engine to kill our opponents using drain effects from creatures like Zulaport Cutthroat or pinging with Blasting Station. Some combos allowing us for infinite death triggers will win us the game right away. Vigilance and Lifelink for our tokens is nice to have and we have a lot of cards that synergize with some life gain (like Necropotence, Bolas's Citadel), but often times we will sacrifice them before they are able to attack.
  • Our Main winton is to assemble infinite death triggers and winning the game with cards like: Blood Artist / Cruel Celebrant / Zulaport Cutthroat / Vindictive Vampire / Blasting Station

  • Teysa Karlov + Anointed Procession + Pitiless Plunderer + Reassembling Skeleton + Sac Outlet: Sacrifice Skeleton with Sac Outlet, creating four treasure tokens you can sack for colored mana. Sack two of those tokens to reanimate the Skeleton. Repeat. This gives you infinite colored Mana and infinite death triggers. With Skullclamp in Hand/Play you can draw your deck and win.

  • Phyrexian Altar + Nether Traitor + Token Producer: Sacrifice a Nether Traitor to Phyrexian Altar for colored mana, create a token, sacrifice token for , return Nether Traitor to play, sacrifice Nether Traitor again, creating another token -> infinite death triggers and colored mana. Token Producers for combo: Carrier Thrall, Field of Souls, Ogre Slumlord, Open the Graves, Pawn of Ulamog, Requiem Angel, Sifter of Skulls

  • Bolas's Citadel + Necropotence: This combo enables you to play every card as long as you have life points. Just exile Lands using Necropotence and keep on playing cards. Considering the low average CMC you should be able to win the game. If you don't have Necropotence in play every fetch land (Windswept Heath, Terramorphic Expanse, ...) can shuffle your library if you run into a land on top. So consider tapping them for if you have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play, if you don't need . If you are not on a budget include all Onslaught and Zendikar fetch lands for Swamp/Plains.

  • Bolas's Citadel + Viscera Seer: Sry your lands to the bottom. With enough creatures to sacrifice this can create a long chain of cards you can play.

  • Necropotence + Rally the Ancestors (in hand) + Blasting Station // Drain Effect + Sac Outlet : End of your 2nd Main phase you draw cards with Necropotence until you are at 1 life. Take those cards in hand and discard down to hand size in your cleanup step. Make sure to discard all creatures under CMC X (where X is the X you could cast for Rally for). In response to the Necropotence trigger (which exiles all cards you just discarded) play Rally the Ancestors, bringing them into play and then continuing to sac them one after another to Blasting Station or the Sac Outlet. This combo can sometimes win you the game out of nowhere. If you have enough life you could even risk making this move without Blasting Station or a drain effect in play, as long as you have a sac outlet. There is a high chance you will draw a creature with a drain effect that wins you the game.

  • Liliana, Dreadhorde General: For a 6 drop she simply doesn't do enough. In my meta I'd expect her to live for exactly one turn. Either a 2/2 zombie or every player sacking two creatures is simply not enough. Her ultimate is nice, but I don't expect us to be able to protect her for so long, therefore other wincons are more reliable and often times faster.

  • Black Market: Could get huge, but very slow. I expect it to live maybe one turn, therefore I won't include it in this list.

  • Revel in Riches: Nice synergy with Pitiless Plunderer, but overall too slow, since we win at the beginning of our next upkeep. Also my meta doesn't play a lot of creatures. If you play it, make sure to also include Smothering Tithe

  • Aetherflux Reservoir + Sensei's Divining Top: These two Cards can win you the game with Bolas's Citadel in play. I chose not to include them, because I don't see a fit with my overall strategy.

  • Darkest Hour combos nicely with Teysa, Orzhov Scion, but I think if you want to run this combo you should make Teysa, Orzhov Scion your commander instead. With Altar of Dementia on the battlefield this wins you the game.

  • Merciless Eviction: Potentially worth including, especially if one of your opponents plays a token strategy, relies heavily on artifacts or plays an enchantment deck or many gods. We usually get rid of creatures with something like Dictate of Erebos or target removal. Also we'd run the risk of exiling our own creatures if we don't have a sac outlet.

  • Cabal Coffers for obvious reasons

  • Zendikar and Onslaught Fetch lands

  • Cards I would like to replace with better ones:

I am always looking for improvements on this deck, so feel free to make suggestions in the comments.

It is important to me that the cards in this list revolve around Teysa Karlov. I won't consider wincons that just need colors.

I got original idea for this deck from Commander's Quarters. Be sure to check out his awesome deck techs on youtube.

Also make sure to check out Masterful's Necronomicon | Teysa Karlov | Primer. It's on a higher budget and he has a huge maybe board, so you could build your own list from there.
