Teysa: Combo Aristocrats Optimized

Commander / EDH* WB (Orzhov)

Nethereon

Teysa, Orzhov Scion is an aristocrat centric Commander. In this build, there is a combo heavy focus in addition to Teysa's sacrifice hungry mechanics.

Many of the combos interact with each other and assist with completing infinite loops.

Teysa, Orzhov Scion is a great Aristocrat commander with several different styles of play. This particular build is heavy combo because I rather enjoy unassuming, durdly decks that people lose to out of left field. Half of the time you feel like you're losing, until you're not. The other half of the time, you're in such a commanding (no pun intended) position because of all of the tokens and Teysa's insane removal ability.

This particular build has a great deal of nuance and customization potential, for anyone looking to tweak it. It is by no means in its final form, which is fine because I know there are cards that I need to add in order to make it faster and/or more competitive. It is a lot of fun to play, and whenever I show up at my LGS people know that they should never underestimate my quiet scheming. As is the Orzhov way.

A quick note: My meta is mostly dominated by Mono players, i.e. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir or Keiga, the Tide Star, or heavy aggro/combo decks (Aggro being Edgar Markov, Arahbo, Roar of the World, and Kaalia of the Vast / Combo being Atraxa, Praetors' Voice Super Friends, and Kess, Dissident Mage. I usually find myself staying quiet and leaving others to their own devices, while they enter into blood feuds, until I can end the game...or die, whichever comes first.

The enablers help fuel many of the primary win conditions, but a couple of them are "win out of nowhere" combos that no one sees coming. The primary sacrifice outlets are Viscera Seer, Cartel Aristocrat, Yahenni, Undying Partisan, Carrion Feeder, Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim + an Enabler such as Pitiless Plunderer or Pawn of Ulamog for the free mana.

Anyone who has every played or played against a Teysa deck has probably seen the card: Darkest Hour (USG + Sac outlet combo. If you sac any creature once Teysa is on the field, in conjunction with Hour, her ability will generate an infinite stream of 1/1 spirit tokens. All right, with infinite 1/1's (entering one at a time), what degenerate things can we do?

  1. Making an infinitely large Carrion Feeder that could swing for lethal.
  2. It's possible to drain the table out of existence, with one of the multiple drain cards, i.e. Blood Artist or Zulaport Cutthroat.
  3. It's possible to make infinite colorless mana with an Ashnod's Altar in play, looping Karmic Guide + Reveillark, before finishing everyone with a giant Torment of Hailfire.
  4. Gain infinite life with all of the soul sister effects or draw a bunch of cards off of Dark Prophecy and Necropotence without worrying about dying.
