+1 for the description, classic XD

Emrakool says... #2

Thanks! :) I was hoping to add more to it but ran out of ideas. So far it seems like a fun deck. I'm thinking I might drop one or two of the 3cc cards for extra lands so I'm not struggling to cast later on.

Nightmist says... #3

+1 for flavour.

April 27, 2012 4:45 a.m.

Emrakool says... #4

With all the life gain I've been trying to think of a way to activate fateful hour while keeping with the theme. GriselbrandMTG Card: Griselbrand would be fun but I don't want to deck myself trying to get to 5 life. Any suggestions?

April 27, 2012 5:56 a.m.

Emrakool says... #5

Decided Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave would be perfect for activating fateful hour. Still open to tweaking it a little more.

New changes...

-3 Hero of BladeholdMTG Card: Hero of Bladehold, -3 MortarpodMTG Card: Mortarpod, -3 Gideon's LawkeeperMTG Card: Gideon's Lawkeeper, -1 Tribute to HungerMTG Card: Tribute to Hunger, -1 Increasing DevotionMTG Card: Increasing Devotion, -1 Mirran CrusaderMTG Card: Mirran Crusader

+3 Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave, +3 Altar's ReapMTG Card: Altar's Reap, +3 Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave, +2 Liliana of the VeilMTG Card: Liliana of the Veil, +1 Thraben DoomsayerMTG Card: Thraben Doomsayer

Hex ParasiteMTG Card: Hex Parasite will get you to fateful hour on demand. (just keep paying the phyrexian mana till you are at 4/5 to remove 0 counters.)

May 1, 2012 2:50 a.m.

Emrakool says... #7

This is true, the thought of playing Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave and purposely paying the life while watching an opponent sac everything just feels dirty.

Vman says... #8

i like the desctiption lol....i really do haha..

i dont think ur deck can suport 4x high priests..i run 4 lingy soulies in a deck and find it hard to tappy all.

May 2, 2012 3:51 a.m.

Vman says... #9

other than that +1

May 2, 2012 3:53 a.m.

Emrakool says... #10

I'll probably be updating for the core set cycle and including a little more creature token production for the tapping. wants an army to play with.

May 2, 2012 4:21 a.m.

Emrakool says... #11

Don't have Sorin yet but going to give him a try in place of Hero of BladeholdMTG Card: Hero of Bladehold. Thanks everyone for the +1s!

jwel789 says... #13

Looks good, I like decks that can use . I would suggest you add 2 more Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence to the side board(primarily for those Heartless SummoningMTG Card: Heartless Summoning decks with their Wurmcoil EngineMTG Card: Wurmcoil Engines)and 3x Celestial PurgeMTG Card: Celestial Purge would be helpful as well. Good deck though +1.

May 6, 2012 3:43 a.m.

Emrakool says... #14

Thanks! I've been looking for some good sideboard ideas. Think some instant life gain in case I do the Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave down to fateful hour combo against a burn deck would be helpful?

May 6, 2012 3:47 a.m.

Sobieski says... #15

couldn't you put in a few Lingering SoulsMTG Card: Lingering Souls and take out some Skirsdag High PriestMTG Card: Skirsdag High Priest

May 6, 2012 7:15 a.m.

Emrakool says... #16

Probably. I've been having issues with the playtester, but it looks like I might have issues now and then triggering morbid.

May 6, 2012 7:29 a.m.

jwel789 says... #17

Ya I think it would,I like to use Timely ReinforcementsMTG Card: Timely Reinforcements for that.

May 6, 2012 12:59 p.m.

brenhil says... #18

Hands down the best deck/description I have ever seen. This deserves a medal. And now you win a Pro-Tour with this deck.

May 6, 2012 11:17 p.m.

Emrakool says... #19

Thanks! I'm amazed at all the positive feedback this deck has gotten so far. I've been a little concerned with the playtesting but crappy draws happen to me often in real life so online shouldn't be any different.

May 7, 2012 1:44 a.m.

Kasseem says... #20

You gotta do Wonderboy next =D

May 7, 2012 7:46 a.m.

Emrakool says... #21

Wonderboy would make an excellent EDH idea. :)

May 7, 2012 7:52 a.m.

Ohthenoises says... #22

It would have to be a champion style deck haha

May 7, 2012 8:46 a.m.

Vman says... #23

May 7, 2012 8:50 a.m.

+1 FOR THE SONG MATE, LOVE IT!

May 8, 2012 2:09 a.m.

Emrakool says... #25

Changed over to more of a tokens build running a little smoother now.

May 12, 2012 9:51 a.m.

Emrakool says... #26

Pulled off the Killing WaveMTG Card: Killing Wave + fateful hour combo in casual multiplayer last night with about 15 creatures on the board including 2 doomsayers and killed all but one opponent. They played Akroma, Angel of WrathMTG Card: Akroma, Angel of Wrath on their next turn...

Twosocks42 says... #27

Awesome description, +1 for that alone. Deck looks pretty good though. :)

May 16, 2012 3:53 a.m.

Good deck. Great description. +1

May 19, 2012 1:08 p.m.

+1 for Tenacious D reference, hilarious description, and finally, for the deck itself :)

June 6, 2012 9:31 a.m.

GoTeamJosh says... #30

+1 for the Tenacious D related description. I'm currently bored at work and that just made everything a lot better. I sang along to it and replaced all the words accordingly. If Jack Black and KG don't do THIS version in the near future, I'm going to be quite upset.

June 12, 2012 10:26 a.m.

Emrakool says... #31

Hopefully the card names won't throw the tempo of their rendition off too much. :)

June 12, 2012 7:24 p.m.

Dritz says... #32

The epicness of this deck, it is palpable.

June 26, 2012 4:35 a.m.

Emrakool says... #33

Thanks! Friends are starting to get tired of playing it though may need some new ideas.

June 26, 2012 2:55 p.m.

tuckyt14 says... #34

my thought are to:-1 Vault of the Archangel your never going to need four-2 Evolving wilds These just slow you down -1 Skirsdag High Priest I just feel four of this guy is too many

+1 Plains+1 Swamp+1 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad+1 Timely Reinforcements

July 11, 2012 11:12 a.m.

Emrakool says... #35

Given the deck is geared more toward mid-late game wins, the only time Evolving Wilds really hurts me is if it's taking the place of a colored mana source when I could be playing Champion of the Parish or my 2 drops early on. With 2 in the deck it hasn't been a problem yet.

I might consider dropping a Vault of the Archangel , not sure about Timely Reinforcements as I plan on updating for RtR soon.

Cool like # 70. Dude nice description and Ill have to try this deck out it seems interesting.

August 6, 2012 12:17 a.m.

Emrakool says... #37

Planned on taking it to gameday still recovering from having other decks get stomped. They always play to my liking until I play competitively.

August 6, 2012 12:23 a.m.

Mysnomer says... #38

I don't know if you can make it fit with the theme, but Cathar's Crusade with token generators is backbreaking. Crusade into Increasing Devotion makes five 5/5s because all the tokens enter simultaneously. Even a simple Lingering souls + flashback gives you four 4/4s. Think about it.

August 11, 2012 6:05 a.m.

Emrakool says... #39

I've been using Increasing Devotion mostly to pump the Champion and feed the Demon in the late game. Usually by that time decks without a decent bit of removal are staring down 6/6 fliers with vigilance and a bunch of their little friends.

August 11, 2012 6:18 a.m.

MR H3AT says... #40

Like all your decks that I check out, this one is pretty dang solid. I helped a buddy make a really cheap budget version of this deck 2 weeks back and through all of the play testing, one card that always seemed to have a place in the deck (even as just a 1 of) has been Angelic Overseer . It is one of those cards that just always come through for you.

August 23, 2012 3:02 a.m.

MR H3AT says... #41

Oh and maybe as just a sideboard card or something, Essence Harvest is often a fun card.

August 23, 2012 3:04 a.m.

Emrakool says... #42

Angelic Overseer has kicked my ass before. Might find use for her as an alternate against hatred for the Demon. Might be better off just waiting for RtR for some of the cards instead of what I have now.

August 24, 2012 7:50 a.m.

NDRue says... #43

+1 just because it's tenacious enough.

August 29, 2012 5:21 a.m.

Emrakool says... #44

Thanks! I'm hoping to finally take this out next month. Started working weekends now so getting to FNM has been an issue. Plus it's been collecting dust since I started get bitched at every time one of my friends sees its deck box in my hand.

YEAH!!!! 100th vote!!!! I love your deck btw. Gave me some inspiration for a deck that I made using Blood Artist . Please check it out and give me any feedback you may have. Ravenous Self-Portrait

September 16, 2012 1:12 a.m.

Emrakool says... #47

Thanks! I have a love/hate relationship with Blood Artist as my friend uses him in 3 or 4 decks. Will definitely give yours a look and link it up top!

+1 for the name and this deck is amazing

November 11, 2012 10:28 p.m.

Emrakool says... #50

Many thanks for the +1s. :) Have had a few new members join my usual playgroup so I figure it's time to unleash this deck upon the world again.

November 12, 2012 2:01 a.m.

CrimsonKing says... #51

I think Blood Artist can be a great sideboard card for you. If you are facing lots of board wipes slap him down. He's hungry for blood!

November 13, 2012 2:05 p.m.

Emrakool says... #52

Trying not to get too crazy with Blood Artist . Friend uses him in about half of his decks so any time someone else plays Blood Artist everyone wants to punch them in the face. Plus he'll create math nightmares for me trying to Killing Wave down to fateful hour.

Finally cleared the dust off this deck tonight and everyone started coming at me which triggered fateful hour without me having to use Killing Wave . Two 7/7 demons, an 11/11 Archdemon of Greed  Flip  Flip and Vault of the Archangel took over. :)

November 15, 2012 2:31 a.m.

CrimsonKing says... #53

Freaking sweet man. I was thinking about dusting mine off too! Gotta love demons.

November 15, 2012 2:38 a.m.

i really like all the directions this deck is going in and it seems like it seems like it can shtatter my initial perceptions by performing well. Skirsdag High Priest and Ravenous Demon  Flip seemed to be impossible to me to use correctly due to all the requirements such as tapped creatures, the morbid, etc but major props to you if you can pull it off. personally id love to see this in action, as i could never imagine a scenario were getting them to wokr would be reliable effective or even possible. hey but if your deckmaking skills are anywhere on par with your songwriitng skills id love to see this thing work.

my bad oh but even incorporating Champion of the Parish and Disciple of Bolas impressive!

February 17, 2013 4:47 p.m.

Emrakool says... #61

Thanks! I'm pretty sure this'll get stomped by some of the aggro decks around since RtR and Gatecrash were released. It did at least give my playgroup fits for awhile.

Thraben Doomsayer really keeps things moving once this deck gets started. Most of my creatures and spells have synergy with Champion of the Parish , and I can usually use Vault of the Archangel or Sorin's tokens to keep my life up.

February 17, 2013 7:36 p.m.

YungBakes says... #62

I don't get the description :( just me derping. What's with all the single cards in the deck? Also, there are only 13 in the sideboard, when there should be 15.

Kizmetto says... #63

oh my god yes +1

September 2, 2013 3:07 a.m.

Emrakool says... #64

Haha thanks! It's been awhile since I've messed with this deck but it's still fun to play every now and then.

@YungBakes, the description is a play on the lyrics of the song "Tribute" by Tenacious D. Hence the video link up top with the updates. :) Got the SB updated with Profit / Loss , which can be a nice swing card for aggro matches.

The lone Tribute to Hunger is for the deck theme and an extra morbid trigger for Skirsdag High Priest . Mikaeus, the Lunarch is for extra creature buffs, which stacks up nicely given the amount of tokens.
