The best card advantage spell in modern has been revamped. Life from the Loam gets you 3 lands from your yard a turn. Lands don't affect the boardstate though, so why is it so powerful?
Life from the Loam combos with most of this deck. The strongest combo and the combo you want to assemble is Life from the Loam + Seismic Assault
. Every turn you get to deal at least 6 damage divided among your opponent's creatures and their face. This can be used to lock down the board and then kill your opponent. NOTE It is useful to keep the lands in your hand and deal most of the damage in one shot so if you need to kill a huge creature or a lot of tokens your opponent just made, you are ready.
If your opponent keeps killing your
Seismic Assault
, you have other combos to fall back on. With Flame Jab
+
Life from the Loam
, you can divide a bolt among your opponent's creatures every turn. While this seems lackluster, the key point is that you are casting 4 sorceries. The creatures in this deck all synergize well with this. Young Pyromancer makes 4 1/1 elementals. Monastery Swiftspear gets 4 prowess triggers. Gelectrode can cause the
Flame Jab
to wipe your opponent's board.
Countryside Crusher
not only synergizes with
Flame Jab
, but with
Seismic Assault
as well. This also makes you hit spells which is useful in a postboard aggro plan. You can pull shenanigans with crusher with fetches and Ghost Quarter. If you Ghost Quarter your own land or fetch, it gets 2 +1/+1 counters. Going aggro in this deck in response to little removal is very powerful
So you've locked the board down, and it's now clear after some removal spells. To win, you have Raging Ravine, Skaab Ruinator, and just straight up Assault Loam. Grind out the match and go for the kill.
The strongest thing this deck can do out of board is to go strict aggro. Cut all of the graveyard shenanigans and put in your creatures. As your opponent thins out their deck, mulligans until they find Leyline of the Void, etc, you play card advantage spells like Huntmaster of the Fells
and Keranos, God of Storms. If you win a game one, this can be a great way of throwing off your opponent game 2. If you keep your maindeck, to kill graveyard hate you have Beast Within. Play mind games, see what your opponents have to answer you with and think about you can react to the hate. Remember, you're playing the best card advantage spell in modern, so use the extra cards well.
