Amulet of Vigor and Blood Sun mitigate the downsides of all our Ravnica lands, both causing our lands to come into play untapped. Guild Summit to turn 13x of our lands into draw spells. Karoo Ranvnica lands to pull back Gates to play them again for more value, they also get extra value from Blood Sun and Amulet of Vigor . Blood Sun also gives us the main-board benefit of shutting down Tron and Valakut, and puts a massive hamper on any deck using fetch lands... which is almost all decks in Modern. Tolaria West can search out any of our zero cost spells, which is particularly useful for finding a Pact once Hive Mind is down, or to grab Engineered Explosives / Walking Ballista / Chalice of the Void . Chalice @ 2 will really shut down a whole lot of Modern decks, while not affecting us at all. Sometimes it's even worth it to Chalice at 1, especially if you've already got at least 1 Amulet of Vigor already in play. We can also realistically put Chalice into play at 4 or 5 to target specific decks / cards due to our massive mana ramp once Titans start hitting the field. Same goes for the Explosives, and Academy Ruins can grab any of the aforementioned artifacts from the graveyard for re-use. DEATH TO ALL THE TWO DROPS!

Our primary win condition is Primeval Titan / Wayward Swordtooth beats with 4x Summoner's Pact to ensure multiple Titans hit the board. The 3x Tolaria West can also search out the Summoner's Pact to have even more options to fetch out the Titans. Our back-up win-con is Hive Mind followed by any of the 'Pact' spells in the deck. This forces your opponents to copy the pact, and if they don't have the right colors or enough mana to pay for it, they lose. It also gives us the advantage vs control match-ups, as we get to copy almost all their spells. Can't counter my stuff if I can copy it and counter your counter right back.

My goal for using Guildgates in this deck was not to be budget. It was to take advantage of the massive card draw engine that is Guild Summit . In my experience the only thing that Amulet Titan was missing was a draw engine. The Guildgates draw engine is massively helpful to our game plan, and more often than not our lands aren't coming in tapped. Blood Moon decks can often lead to an early scoop, but considering how many decks Blood Sun and Chalice of the Void does the same for us I think the trade-off is worth it for the crazy draw engine that is Guild Summit .*
