Prospero, The Tempest

Inspired by Celtic Folklore, and Prospero in Shakespeare's Tempest.

This deck is meant to evoke that otherworldly sense of confusion and disturbance, as if you wake to find the world familiar yet warped in a surreal way. Just like Prospero's illusions, Oona can throw a mystical veil over reality to achieve her goals.

With this in mind, just as Prospero controls Caliban and Ariel, Oona exerts her control over the battlefield. Strategically, this is sort of a control deck that tries to ramp high, generally not averse to killing off a few creatures since Oona is always able to bring more fae across the void. We take advantage of the steady flow of tokens through sacrifice outlets.
By constantly shifting the battleground with boardwipes or counterspells the opponents will never feel confident. And by whittling away the library forcing opponents to adjust their strategies as their key cads are in exile, we can create the feeling that players' own decks are alien to them, resisting them. Such is the influence of the fae - it is about deceit, illusion, and trickery.

We also try to do some hand manipulation, whenever it helps us meet other goals (Syphon Mind, Dire Undercurrents, etc.) This again helps to keep opponents from gaining a good foothold.

We will usually win through infinite mana combo and/or token beatdown. Perhaps in rare cases Oona can secure victory using commander damage.

Themes - Lorwyn Block, Sleep and dreaming, Faeries, Impressionist/Surrealist looking cards for their unclear, shifting, and dreamlike properties.
