Maybeboard

A highly competitive Jeskai Ascendancy based combo deck using General Tazri as the commander. The deck uses mana dorks (16 not including Simic Keyrune and Saheeli Rai) to cast cantrips and tutors in order to search up Jeskai Ascendancy or Paradox Engine and proceed to cast more spells. I have been messing around with this deck ever since the card Jeskai Ascendancy was released and I am very happy with it's competitive status currently. Whilst appearing to have little interaction with my opponents, on the surface and in gameplay it looks very weak. Playing a few mana dorks for turns 1, 2 and 3 seems harmless and often gets the deck overlooked and then turn 4 the deck tends to win.

I took a slightly different version of this deck to a Birmingham GP and entered 8 EDH events (4-player pods) and won 7 of them against some VERY good decks. One game I had an opponent play a turn 1 Winter Orb, whilst another opponent played a turn 2 Blood Moon (against my 5 colour deck) and I still managed to win turn 4. On the same weekend I beat competitive builds of Tasigur control, blue/black doomsday and Azami, Lady of Scrolls . These were just some of the notable opponents that weekend!

The choice of commander was very difficult initially; with the goal being to have a commander which would not place a large target on my head. Having looked at the cEDH page and deck lists it would appear I have not made the best choice with General Tazri foodchain being quite the deck! Whilst I could put Progenitus as my commander and disguise my mana dorks as ramping me up, the practial use of General Tazri's search ability has been very useful. On very rare occasions I can struggle to find a mana dork and the ability to search one up using my commanders ability means I always have the back up way of finding one. My deck also tends to need 2 mana dorks to go off and Harabaz Druid as the only searchable Ally card in my deck actually allows me to go off with just one, similarly to Bloom Tender .

I will be adding more of a description in due course - but for now here is the list with all of the current cards so you can play solitaire until your heart is content. Any recommendations are welcome (but please bare in mind that this is a combo deck which relies on card draw and therefore any suggestions will more than likely need to have those three special words, "Draw a card").
