I laughed, I cried, and I wondered if the Whip of Erebos has a place, as the healing could make the taxes all the sweeter.

I thought long and hard about Whip of Erebos
being included and decided i had enough 4 drops. So for now i have left it in the sideboard.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel ensures the tax man always gets his cut

Are you running enough lands? 21 seems light when you want to sink a lot of mana into Rakdos's Return , Rix Maadi Guildmage and Claim of Erebos , as well as having some high cost cards like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Toil / Trouble . Didn't know how much you playtested it but it looks like you could use a few more lands to me, just from an initial glance at it. I love the deck +1

I feel like i need to add 1-2 more land to get the curve just right, but im not sure where to cut a card or 2. Any suggestions?

Also, you have so many double black mana cards and you are really only splashing red by comparison, you may want to push the ratio of rad to black mana sources more towards black. I would -2 Mountain , -1 Erebos, God of the Dead , -1 Mogis, God of Slaughter , -1 Rakdos's Return , +5 Swamp . You don't want to draw too many legendary creatures (especially indestructible ones) and Rakdos's Return is a mana sink so you don't want too many of those either. Just a suggestion, but it may make casting your double black mana cards easier, especially the ones in your sideboard.

fadetoblack1183 thanks man that suggestion helped tremendously for my play test.

Pain Seer could easily take the spot of rix maadi Mage.
They have similar stats, but seer is easier to cast. And seer will draw you cards as long as you're swinging, whereas rid Mage pings for 1 damage for RB if they've taken a hit.

@TEGHabibird Thats why rix maadi is in the deck to begin with. They just have to lose a life on the turn to amplify life lost.
Fate Unraveler allows me to do that on their turn as an extra ping before my upkeep. Thrull Parasite has extort that can be triggered to make them lose life. Claim of Erebos also allows me to get into their life pool to help activate Rix Maadi Guildmage .
and Mogis, God of Slaughter makes them choose 2 to the face with the potential for more through the guildmage or suffer the loss of a creature.
Thats why he stays as he ends up being the superstar at times. He also can eliminate blockers early game.

I'm not saying I don't think you can consistently damage the opponent, I just think 2 mana for 1 damage is a bit lackluster. Pain seer would help yu get to your stronger cards faster.
And he also works incredibly well with claim of erebos

Pain Seer works awfully with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Toil / Trouble . The decks running his older brother in modern are 3< cmc for a reason. Flipping even a Bloodbraid Elf for them was painful- imagine taking 6.

+1 just because the story that you gave behind each card and their secret lives as taxmen made me lol and its a solid deck
