Commander / EDH* Discard Reanimator UBR (Grixis)

Unforgivn_II

The song fit for me. You know, an overlord bringing his zombie horde to war seemed appropriate. And Amon Amarth is awesome.

It was time for me to build a deck for fun only. Sedris + Flicker effects seems fun, both for me and my opponents. For me, because I'm playing fatties for cheap, and for my opponents because the deck is "fair" and doesn't attempts some degenerate combo. Although I suppose Unearth + Deadeye Navigator can be pretty brutal.

So anyway, this may not be the most focused Sedris deck, but it has a good amount of themes in order to keep things fresh. One game you'll win from Warstorm Surge dealing tons of damage, another you might grind out a long game with them having no hand from Sire Of Insanity, and most rarely, you might pull off a Hinder + Tunnel Vision combo to mill them nearly completely. Although Tunnel Vision should primarily be used on yourself to fill up that grave. Flexibility is fun.

As far as budget goes, I am not afraid to spend big bucks on cards that can't be easily imitated (Sneak Attack is a good example). But Fetches and ABUR duals just aren't something I'm willing to spend the money on. My playgroup and I play EDH for the fun of it, none of that French 1v1 tourney stuff. I don't need the most well-oiled machine out there.

The main goal for this deck is to get some sort of discard engine out to pitch your own fatties, as well as to hurt your opponents, so Liliana of the Veil or Necrogen Mists and the like are good for that. Then, depending on the draws, you decide how you want to win. Permanent recursion with Deadeye Navigator or Conjurer's Closet, burn by Warstorm Surge and Flayer of the Hatebound, or just beating face by hasty fatties with cool ETB effects. Tutoring up the Unearth + Flicker effects is probably the most effective way to win, if tutors are drawn.

I'm open to suggestions here, moreso than usual. I mean, I won't just throw anything in here, but I'm taking a much looser approach to this build than I typically do. I'm trying to embrace the spirit of just chilling out and having fun with my deck, as opposed to being in high gear non-stop. I'll save that for sanctioned events.

Updates Add

My log for additions and subtractions to the deck. And a little reasoning behind the choices.

5/1: -1 Malfegor, +1 Slum Reaper: First playtest today! Fleshbag Marauder was a force to be reckoned with today. Especially with Unearth and Deadeye Navigator shenanigans. So I figured I would throw in a near copy, for some consistency. Malfegor came out because I secretly hate him. He seems solid, especially in a deck that doesn't need a hand. But as a player, I can't get over the fact that not only does he leave me at a disadvantage in terms of cards in hand, but doesn't have a concrete effect. Unearth him with a huge hand? Sweet, solid board wipe. Draw him with Sire Of Insanity in play? Utterly useless. From the bounce shenanigans with the Reaper, I can get a similar effect, without ravaging my hand. I'm all for discard, so long as we're all doing it.

5/16: -1 Artisan of Kozilek, +1 Thraximundar: Artisan just isn't that great when it's entering the battlefield from the grave most of the time. Thrax forces them to sac creatures and gets bigger. Less sacrificing, but creatures are typically the biggest threats, and Annihilator will allow them to sacrifice things that are the least relevant.
