Rite of the God-Pharaoh [Competitive]

Standard*

Description

God-Pharaoh is good, God-Pharaoh is great, let us thank him for our win/loss ratio.

The goal of this deck is to pump out tokens and win, whether it be by beating down, creatures big or little, or just straight damage. If you like the list, give it an upvote, it's really appreciated.

Our token generators consist of a bunch of cheap spells that provide as many tokens as possible. Servo Exhibition, Oath of Gideon and Sram's Expertise all make tons of tokens for cheap, while Thraben Inspector and Blisterpod are good one-drops with upside in our deck. Nissa, Voice of Zendikar and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar are repeatable token generators while pumping up our team if we need to beat down.
One of the reasons the deck works so well is our plethora of wincons. We can go wide with tokens pumped up by Nissa, Voice of Zendikar and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, or beat down with nearly unstoppable creatures such as Ormendahl, Profane Prince  Flip and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. Sometimes Worldbreaker can do it on it's own aswell!
Our whole deck works becuase of one card, Cryptolith Rite. This was one of my favourite cards from Shadows Over Innistrad. It allows all of our tokens and one drops to tap for mana towards whatever we want really.
Our removal package is light, but gets the job done. Immolating Glare prevents some early damage and allows us to tap all our creatures for bigger, better things. Stasis Snare helps with gods and sweepers that mess us up like Archfiend of Ifnir. Angel of Sanctions is currently being tested in this deck too.

Wow.

This deck is super hard to beat if Nissa, Voice of Zendikar hits the field early on.

Nice build. +1 from me.

Would you have a problem with me linking to your deck in my Sideboard notes?

It might end up driving some extra traffic your way, but will also tell people how to Board against you.

Cast Out has more versatility than Stasis Snare, in that it can hit any non-land permanent, and it can also be Cycled.

I don't have time right now but I'll throw together a suggested Sideboard later today.

It's a seriously good deck, though.

I was talking about it tonight with my partner. Now he's thinking about whether to play it next season.

Immolating Glare is good for Mainboard removal.

I would suggest Nature's Way, but I don't think your Creatures are big enough to make it work.

For your Sideboard I would go for things that protect your Creatures against board wipes.

Stuff like:

Tireless Tracker can give you draw if games go long.

Dissenter's Deliverance would be useful against Artifacts, but Appetite for the Unnatural also hits Enchantments. There is also Natural State to consider.

Which one you choose depends on what is problematic in your meta.

I would suggest this as a start, for your Sideboard:

3x Appetite for the Unnatural
3x Archangel Avacyn  Flip
4x Heroic Intervention
3x Selfless Spirit
2x Tireless Tracker

You might find that you want to adjust the numbers of Archangel Avacyn  Flip and Selfless Spirit, depending on your meta.

How about Forsake the Worldly in place of Appetite for the Unnatural or Natural State? Same CMC as Appetite, instant speed, and it more effectively answers Scrapheap Scrounger than either. The cycling just makes it even more useful.

after playtesting this for a bit on here i keep falling more in love with it. the ramp seems to be constant, the servo exhibitions and other cards seem to help slow down aggro and just overall im ecstatic i think my earliest win was with ulamog turn 5 summon with cryptolith and like 6 servos 3 plants or something like that thanks to cryptolith rite it just shot right up to ulamog in no time at all! +1 +more if i could!

Nereket Yeah a t5 ulamog or westvale isn't uncommon. Thanks!

You have a lot of low powered creatures. I would watch out for black deck sideboards. They will most likely be running a -?-? spell.

-2 Stasis Snare +2 Cast Out imo. Cycling for 1, ability to remove any permanent instead of only creatures.

Also, the mana base seems weird. Out of 23 lands, you have 6 that only give colorless while you have 11 cards in the main (2 in the side) that require double white or double green. Especially when it comes to the Nissa in the main. You only have 2 Reality Smashers that actually require colorless to be cast. I understand that the idea is to use Cryptolith Rite to then use tokens to generate obscene amounts of mana. However, if you don't draw Crypto or it gets removed (and game 2 it very well might once they see your strat) you're left with a mana base that will have trouble casting double green and double white consistently on turn 3-4. I would recommend either removing 3-4 sources of colorless from your lands (1 Blighted Steppe and 2 Westvale Abbey  Flip seems good) in favor of more colored sources. You could also look into putting a more dedicated mana dork in the main so that it can help fix your mana.

Aether Hub could also work since it would give you a source of color + colorless. Though you don't have energy generation, it could tide you over.
