i'm one of Minelia5's "buddies", and I definitely +1 this deck. This is awesome! If you're looking for more modern infinite combos, 2 Flamerush Riders give you infinite attacking 3/3s. also, Seedcradle Witch and Bloom Tender is infinite as long as you have four colors of permanents on the battlefield.

So you may want to consider Wall of Omens over Perimeter Captain as the card draw is usually more valuable than preventing attacks in the Defender deck.

I still run them in the sideboard of

Basically found that the draw for combo pieces was much more valuable than hedging against Aggro.

Nice to see how your interpretation has evolved over time.

Always happy to help my friend. Yeah, Perimeter Captain definitely has a place in the sideboard to be used against heavy aggro strategies. I would go with Wall of Omens in the main and get the extra card draw. Definitely playtest with it and let me know what you think. I made the switch and haven't looked back. Wall of Omens is a pretty useful card for competitive combo in GENERAL the fact that we're already running a Defender shell and so the body itself is also a combo enabler is just gravy.

Best of luck!

That Godsire + Intruder Alarm combo is priceless.

Why are there over 500 cards in the maybeboard?

Well, it looks like a solid build to me. Honestly, Infinite combos aren't my personal preference, but to each their own. That being said, I do worry that intruder alarm can be fragile, allowing your opponents creature's to untap, while splinter twins decks are huuuuge in modern right now.

Also, I think suspect you have problems with card draw if you don't hit infimana + staff. Have you considered the cantrips available to you, such as Serum Visions?

Rending Volley would be fine unless the opponent's running Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker (which they are). If you're going to that level of reactivity, you might as well just run Dismember to hit effectively anything off of any color mana. You aren't concerned about your life in a combo mirror anyway.

I hear you on the casualness. I'm just missing Sphinx's Revelations, Ghostly Prisons, and 1 Genesis Wave before mine is all set. I've been playing it with proxies, and it's incredibly strong against everything I've faced so far- the weakest matchup being mono red burn.

Can this deck sustain all the damage from the land base?

Hey, have you had to face mono-red Skred decks yet? They're seeing a lot of popularity, and they can be an absolute nightmare if they hit a main-decked Blood Moon before you resolve a dork. Still problematic after with all the creature hate they run.

I ended up having to swap out my Ghostly Prisons for a full playset of Worship, since it + Sylvan Caryatid will help buy time to get some control set up, or Wall of Denial + Worship can allllmost shut it down (making their only out resolving 4 Pyroclasm simultaneously.)

I think your deck is more consistent than mine, so it has a better chance of going off before it gets shut down by something like blood moon, but I'd still make plans to help your matchup against it.

This is hilarious.

Is it worth having Fervor in this if you're only running one?
