Do you like countering, bouncing, and exiling cards? Do you like controlling the board state? How about drawing cards? Do you like causing undue stress among your friends because you never let them resolve their spells?

That’s great and all. By what if you could do all of those things while generating massive advantage for yourself and your board and end up with a massive army of angry flying tokens?

If that sounds like Talrand, Scum of the Sky might be the EDH deck for you.

This is a Mono-blue EDH deck, using Talrand, Sky Summoner as the commander. This deck's core goal is to get Talrand out, then create a vicious army of Drake tokens by casting a lot of instants and sorceries and then generate even more with cards like Metallurgic Summonings and Docent of Perfection. Then, drop in a kicked Rite of Replication, a Clone Legion perhaps, or even use Helm of the Host to make new token generators, then snag them back with a well timed Tamiyo the Moon Sage ult, recursion from cards like Torrential Gearhulk, or copying! You should be using the creatures and artifacts to prolong your game, while using the couple of enchantments to really beef your field up. There's plenty of fun card interaction here, and lots of opportunity for diplomatic play with your myriad counter and bounce spells!

The Maybeboard of this deck contains some cards that you may be interested in running, depending on the type of play you're looking to do. For instance, it contains a few more mana options, some varying counterspell choices, and a few bounce and token spells I chose not to normally run. You may find them more interesting, and choose to mainboard them - please do! They're there to provide some additional options. The Mainboard contains the cards that I personally am running in this deck, so things may shift around a bit over time!

This deck is always a work in progress! If you see anything this deck could do better, please don't hesitate to let me know. Please do keep in mind that it is aimed to be more of a budget build, so cards over a $20 price point are likely not going to sit well, though exceptions can (and have!) been made.
