Hello everyone, this deck is the copy of a deck I have in paper and want to dive more in depth with once I practice and use the text formatting on tappedout a little better. Suggestions are appreciated!

I'll be putting in a ton of work to try and have this listed as a primer if possible so keep an eye out for updates as I'm constantly adjusting and updating this decklist as I play against more Decks

I go by Oak on most channels, Discord or other media and I've been playing magic for 15 years. The main style of deck I enjoy playing is a Combo Control style deck that has both a resilient combo and ways to keep my opponent off of their chosen finishers. CEDH is still a little new to me as a format but I've played a ton of legacy in the past, mostly with death and taxes or miracles decks. I've never been much of a brewer for decks but Taigam inspired me when I saw the lists (listed in the credits section under this one) to create my own decklist. After days of lurking in discords and feeling the general consensus on U/W control decks I decided on and built a Taigam, Ojutai Master Turns deck and have been tweaking and testing it ever since.

Taigam, Ojutai Master is an adaptive combo deck that can threaten wins with as little as a single cost reducer like Sapphire Medallion and 4 mana. It can threaten a win as early as turn 3 with an incredible hand but on average it looks to end the game on turns 5-6 and disrupt the rest of the table with its uncounterable permission spells.

Taigam is a 3 power 4 toughness creature with two extremely important effects.

  • - He makes every Instant, Sorcery and Dragon you cast uncounterable
  • - Upon Declaration as an attacker and being turned sideways he adds a free Cast Through Time to your turn as long as he's alive. This ability because of how it's worded is static, so your spells will gain rebound when they're cast which is the what they respond to. Additionally if he is killed in response to you casting a spell, it will still check to see if he's attacked and give the spell rebound.

The Threat of Taigam, Ojutai Master on your side of the field makes it so that your opponent either requires knowledge of your hand or a removal spell in order for them to combo off or go for a win because the threat of your counterspells having final word on any stack is extremely threatening on its own not to mention that if you untap with him you have the potential to just end the game with an uncounterable time spell loop and 5 mana.

For the purposes of this deck we will be ignoring the Dragon's aspect of Taigam, Ojutai Master and instead focusing on the spellslinger portion for our combo.

You should play this deck if

  • You enjoy creature combat and commander damage
  • You enjoy taking extra turns
  • You like playing a hard to interact with combo deck with a combo unique to only your commander
  • You enjoy drawing cards and always having a line of play to make against something someone is doing.

You should not play this deck if

  • You dislike your commander being removed or interacted with for being a major threat
  • You dislike turns strategies
  • You dislike creature combat

Our combo is very resilient, hard to interact with, and wins off of a single rebounded cast of Intuition every part of this combo can either be used for value including the turns spells as the Call to Mind effects will be able to get them back when going off.

Our Intuition pile for the win is as follows

We start by attacking with Taigam, Ojutai Master and casting Time Warp or any of the other time spells. This gives us an extra turn and places it in rebound. We then can safely go to our next turn's untap step where our Time Warp will rebound and be uncounterable due to our commander's cannot be countered clause. This gives us an additional turn. We then go through first the turn, going to combat and attacking either the same or another open player and cast Call to Mind giving it rebound. We target our Time Warp in the graveyard. We can now safely pass turn and go to our second additional turn. Our Call to Mind will rebound where you can target anything you'd like. We proceed to combat again and cast our Time Warp again, giving it rebound. We can then go through the turn and pass, rebounding Time Warp going to combat and then casting our second Call to Mind effect. These would be Deja Vu or Sage's Knowledge Relearn targeting our Time Warp . We go to the next Time Warp turn and our Sage's Knowledge will rebound targeting Call to Mind . We now have an infinite turn loop set up by rebounding the turns and the two Call to Mind effects.

Combo TLDR

Work in progress
Taigam, Ojutai Master is an adaptive combo deck which can easily switch between a draw go control deck and a proactive combo deck depending on the makeup of the table and your hand. The key to the deck is assessing when you're able to go for it or if you should hold up countermagic and try and gain value off of rebounded cantrips via out commander's attack ability.

These cards can interact with you and must be removed before starting your combo, the Codex Shredder cuts off any sort of Mystical Tutor or Personal Tutor lines and more cards will be added to this list as they come up as things that are red flags or problematic permanents or effects that must be answered before we can win the game.

I'd like to give credit to the two main decklists that inspired me to create this one

-Taigam Xerox/ Control by biopouvoir

-Taigam of the 10,000 fist by Teh-MTG-Doge
