WHAT IS T-RAX?

T-Rax is an iteration of 8 rack, a deck based around The Rack and Shrieking Affliction except it includes Rotting Regisaur as another angle of winning. The goal of this deck is to either beat them down with the Regisaur or hellbent them and punish them with rack effects. Sometimes even both.

LETS BREAK IT DOWN

Win Conditions

The Rack - Racks 1-4 of 8. Get their hand down low and punish them for it.

Shrieking Affliction - Racks 5-8 of 8. Get their hand down low and punish them for it.

Rotting Regisaur - The newest edition to the team, a 7/6 that rarely has a downside because we are hellbent on our upkeep anyway most of the time. It provides a fast clock we didn't have prior. The racks are great, but without more than one, and being able to keep their hand down, it wasn't the most reliable wincon. Now we have another threat, that when paired along side racks becomes a huge issue for any opponent to deal with. In matchups where Regisaur is bad we can sideboard it out for ensnaring bridges.

Liliana, the Last Hope - Not too much of a wincon but still worth mentioning because the ult can end games, and it can end games fast.

Mutavault - Not really a wincon, but it deals damage so I'm putting it in this section as well.

Discard Package

Wrench Mind - This card is great because it is usually a 2 for 1.

Raven's Crime - I would argue this is one of the most useful discard spells in the deck. We typically never want more than 4 lands on the field at a time, because we curve out at 3cmc and we can pitch the rest to keep retracing raven's crime. It also prevents us from flooding because it turns lands into discard spells.

Liliana of the Veil - When building this deck, the first 16 cards you put in are your 12 wincons and this. It is such a good card. It discards (without targeting so no need to worry about Leyline of Sanctity . It removes creatures, and its ult can win games. it is in this section because it discards cards without targeting.

Thoughtseize - 1-4 of our 8 targeted discard spells. This not only gives us information about our opponents hand (which should tell us what deck they are playing as well) it also takes a threat they might not discard willingly.

Inquisition of Kozilek - 5-8 of our 8 targeted discard spells. Much like Thoughtseize, this takes a threat of our choice. The trade off is while it doesn't lose us life, it cant take things above 3cmc.

Removal Package

Fatal Push - Not much to say here. Hits a ton of threats in the modern format.

Liliana's Triumph - An edict that doesn't target so it also gets around Leyline, and has the potential to also force in a discard.

Liliana of the Veil - Ideally you wont have to use the -2 a ton to qualify this as a removal spell but it still was worth mentioning.

Liliana, the Last Hope - not only acting as another way to turn on Triumph, this card also removes small creatures, weakens big ones, gets back Regisaurs, but can even be a win condition. It's in here because of the removal in her +1.

Lands

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - Makes our Silent Clearing s when tapping for black, and makes mutavaults tap for black.

Silent Clearing - Taps for white sideboard cards, and can turn itself into cards if it becomes unnecessary

Mutavault - A land that can turn into a beater for some more damage.

Godless Shrine - Taps for Black or White

Swamp - Taps for Black

Sideboard

Delirium Skeins - Non targeting discard 3. Great against control and decks that have Leyline of Sanctity also helps in other grindy matchups

Ensnaring Bridge - Because it contradicts Regisaur so much, you only side these in when siding out Regisaur. This happens in creature matchups where we cant get dino damage through, and ensnaring bridge just shuts them down. It also works against Hogaak and Dredge which run rampant right now.

Leyline of the Void - Your grave hate. With the help of the london mull, we can much more effectively force mulligan for them. Never side in less than 4.

Pithing Needle - hits a ton of issues like Teferi, Hero of Dominaria , and we can even slow down tron by hitting Expedition Map .

Bontu's Last Reckoning - A 3 mana board wipe. Side it in against most creature heavy decks along with ensnaring bridge.

Anguished Unmaking - quite literally unconditional removal. it hits Chalice of the Void s on 1 it hits problematic plansewalkers and can permanently get rid of Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis for the small cost of 3 mana and 3 life.
